Although this car can and will be improved, this package was developed by achieving a perfect balance between every component; change one piece and you'll have to find that balance again. I think they went with a 4 banger, instead of five, because it was easier to achieve that balance.
DPi is a BoP (balance of performance) formula. That means you can not get major performance advantage from another type of engine configuration. The car would be faster if the engine just wasn't an under-developed piece of unreliable old crap.
Thank you for posting this. That AER 2.0 T soothes my soul!! Love the shift lights too!
It's inline-4 machine with roar engine sound.. Love it
Crossing my fingers for a trouble free and reliable race. Preferably with a strong finish!
Your wish nearly came true. =[
Stoppahpowah I know right?! So close, such a great job and great pace. Can't wait to see how they do the rest of the season. Great race!
Wow, this looks plenty fast already but imagine what the LMP1 cars are going to do when they come visit the track next year.
I wonder how much faster this would be if it ran a 5-cylinder rather than 4 banger.
Dr. Bananable Lector ... Or a rotary

Well, that and the fact the engines in Daytona Prototype are required to be production based. Mazda doesn't make a 5-cylinder car :-)

Ya, throw an LS crate motor in 'er and go racin'. Enough's enough.
Sounds similar to the Porsche 919 hybrid
