Thank you for this! You make it look so easy that I can do it myself. How do you know which timer to get...120v vs 240v ? Is there an indicator on the old timer? Thanks again!
I replaced JUST the timer motor for a fraction of the cost of a complete new timer. My pool store suggested this route and had the motor on hand. Pull the timer out of the box as if replacing and look at the back side. You'll see the motor is held with one small screw and there are two wires. EASY ..... changed out the motor , put timer back in box, POOF
If I pull the combined timer and motor assembly out of the Intermatic box, as shown in this video, and tilt the assembly towards the horizontal, the small gears start turning. When I put the assembly back in place in its normal vertical position inside the box, the small gear stops turning. Sprayed WD 40 on the gears and shafts, but the small gear remains stuck when the assembly is in its proper place. It appears that the small gear is making contact with the frame that mounts the timer motor, because I can gently move the gear on its shaft and away from the frame. There is a little play, but it always goes back against the frame on its own, when I turn on the power. Is there supposed to be a spacer on the shaft between the small gear and the frame to keep the gear from frictioning against the frame? Or do I give up and replace this 35 year old timer motor?
I have a pool light timer T104, I bought a T101 but there the electrical screws are in a different location. How do I hook up the T101. I think this used to be to control a two speed pump but later they hoooked up the pool lights. Thanks
Make sure the little clip you screw in is all the way pushed in, you should be able to see how it makes contact on the back side by pulling out on the metal time part and spinning it to where the timer clip would line up. If that makes sense, my guess is just that your ON clip isn't far enough in to make contact
hmm, it's hard to see the large dial actually turn. But if it's not working right, I would just do a full replacement since it's pretty cheap to swap it out. If your little gears are turning, that pretty much only leaves something in the timer mechanism to be broken.

Super helpful, just swapped out our old pool timer. Thank you!
The info really help thanks a million great job guys
How do you tell if you need a 240 or 120 version?

I can hear the timer running but it is not turning. Gear issue?
I have this and it is not for a pool. It’s for an outdoor outlet. Good for holiday lighting.

I put the new timer in and it will turn on and run, but the timer is not working. What do I do?
See those words on the time hand that say do not remove. Well I moved. Now I can't get my on tripper to work but the off one does. Any ideas?

@@DarrenG it's all the way in but doesn't seem to connect with thebon tripper since it doesn't turn on. The off tripper does though
Mines is running and everything but it won’t flip the switches. It just causes the switches to scratch the wheel.
I have the same problem. How did you fixed it?
@@ericwang9926 still not fixed till this day. Replaced timers and they’re not in sync with each other.
Now I can see the small gears turning on the inside but the large dial is not. Not good I think.?

@@DarrenG Thanks for the quick response. No, the large wheel is not moving after hrs of observation. Swap out it is.
