Giving him body dysmorphia, and actually making us sympathize with him a little. But what's even more interesting, rather than redemption they chose to keep him as a light-hearted funny villain

Even at the end he did the call back to game show.He keeps failing upwards. They realized real eyes real lies and the comedic genius of the actor. Hughie isn't seen as traditionally tough, but Hughie has his moments where his integrity and courage show, especially when Hughie gets roped into Butcher's dark tendencies where he stands up for himself.
One thing about The Deep: Can he REALLY talk to fish, or is he simply insane, and people are just playing along? It would be the perfect 'final takedown' of Aquaman, saying that he was never able to talk to sea life, but was just crazy 😅 That's not saying that he doesn't have some psychic ability to control sea life, though (and why does he seemingly never take off those damn gloves? 😂)
Not only is he a great character, but Chace Crawford does not get enough credit for how great he is. He's imo, one of the best in the show, up there with Antony Starr, because it's alot harder to be funny and also to sell the comedic/stupid shit Deep does better
I just commented that!!! It's so hard to play an empty headed buffoon as seriously as the actor does. My other underrated actor from The Boys is Colbi Minifie, Ashley, the Vought CEO. She's just doing ridiculous stuff all the time, but she sells it so perfectly. The thing is Anthony Starr is so perfect as Homelander, he eclipses the rest of the cast.
The real genius behind how the writers have handled The Deep is that he never feels like he has been pigeon holed into a purely comedic relief character - he has emotionality and complexity with his actions, and while he is perceived as a laughing stock he never feels shallow, he's deep
I was just saying that Sage’s best move is to go get Soldier Boy. He’ll take out Homelander, the Boys, the 7 that she doesn’t want around. Then they’ll be on top

Also just the raw charisma that Chace gives makes him so likeable. He might say the least self-aware, least intelligent, most out of place shit, but boy will he do that with charm. The one person who could actually kill him is The Deep. This would be a good reason that Homelander keep The Deep demoralized, he is actually afraid of him.
I found The Deep cringy in season 2, but he grew on me. Dude is so dumb and unscrupulous it's hilarious. His interactions with Black Noir 2 in season 4 were a riot.

He could have been a really great environmentalist or even just nice person. Amazing character presence through out the show and in so curious what he final moments will be like.
Even though he treats them like dirt and they are terrified of him, Homelander does have a twisted kind of affection for his fellow members of The 7. He's genuinely hurt when Maeve, Black Noir, and A-Train all betray him in various ways. And I think he does have a certain soft spot for The Deep in particular because even though he complains about being surrounded by pushovers and yes-men, he likes that The Deep doesn't have the brains, courage, or moral fortitude to ever disobey him. I know the show and the comics are seperate, but in the comics starlight and the deep are the only supes that survive in the end. However the deep was more serious and mature in the comics. He also wasnt as depraved and selfish like most other supes.
Deep is one of the best characters, comedic but deeply flawed (pun intended) and stupid Almost makes you forget all the disgusting things he has done. He will stick around until the finale and then get a nice dirty sendoff like he deserves
tbh I kinda sympathise with his saving the marine life thing. Sea is a really rough place and the way we cook or kill fishes, lobsters, squids, octopi is often unethical. It’s funny when his girlfriend is an octopus or how he kidnapped a dophin but if it were a sentient cat or a dog that was abused, it wouldn’t be as funny, would it? I’m not vegan and I love sea food, just rubs me the wrong way how people have almost no empathy towards them
I think in the Boys universe, the deep is actually one of their top supes marketing wise. We know bts that the deep is a bitch, but I think the avrg citizen in the boys love the deep that’s why he gets so much screen time in vought
I also like The Deep. His serious moments are so serious it overshadows the actual serious moments of other characters 😅 Like how he can hear fish talk and tries to save that lobster that just gets cut to death. Or his whale Lucy. I think it might be a factor that I don't want animals to get hurt and he also feels that way but even more so cause he knows how they feel 😂 Although I could do without him doing the nasty with sea creatures on screen 🙈🙈
I HATE the Deep as a person (not that there’s many people in The Boys to love), but he is one of my favorite characters in the show. Every scene he’s in is so funny and Crawford is so good in the role.
My favourite moment with the Deep is tbh not even from the show but it's the new Liquid Death commercial where he talks about the dangers of sugar. The whole thing is just so hilarious. Actually I had never heard about Liquid Death before the commercial and I genuinely thought that it was just a joke

That part was so funny 😭
Firecracker and Sage are giving The Deep a run for his money. Those two have been hilarious lately.
the reason the deep is in so many videos is because canonically the public loves the deep
The deep needs a spin off with his bro
Reminded me how good Chace's delivery is for the "capybarnya" joke, fire writing too
Fun fact: "TheTruthAboutFirecracker" , as of Jun 30th, twitter accounts was captured by Vought and posted a police sketch of Butcher, aswell that Frenche handed himself into custody
I want more of his powers like in season 2 it was so cool even though it didn’t do that much (not just him doing sea creatures)
I know the show and the comics are seperate, but in the comics starlight and the deep are the only supes that survive in the end.
However the deep was more serious and mature in the comics. He also wasnt as depraved and selfish like most other supes.
Deep is one of the best characters, comedic but deeply flawed (pun intended) and stupid
Almost makes you forget all the disgusting things he has done.
I’m not vegan and I love sea food, just rubs me the wrong way how people have almost no empathy towards them
Bro when the deep is clapping cheeks and he looks up at the octopus splaying its tentacles and bites his lip is peak
The Peak was always one of my favorites character lmfao. All his scenes he's doing something funny or being dumb in a good way 😂😂 such a comic relief
the deep joining the church of scientology was so out of nowhere, but it’s by far the best subplot in the entire show so far
I think it might be a factor that I don't want animals to get hurt and he also feels that way but even more so cause he knows how they feel 😂
Although I could do without him doing the nasty with sea creatures on screen 🙈🙈
"Let Me Carve Your Way" caught me totally off guard at the end, good video and a banger song at the end.
⚙️🔥
The song is just so peak but so is all the other guilty gear songs 🔥
so true
Imagine the deep ends up being like the last living supe
When you watched him back in Gossip girls vs now. You know that Chace got the range. I hope he gets more roles.
He’s definitely an amazing actor I agree he should get more roles
I HATE the Deep as a person (not that there’s many people in The Boys to love), but he is one of my favorite characters in the show. Every scene he’s in is so funny and Crawford is so good in the role.
3:22 hey that’s me
*Spider-Man pointing meme*
His octopus death scene was hilarious when it transitions to his rage face
Deep and new black noir is crazy hilarious 😂😂😂
I agree I’m loving the new black noir
My favourite moment with the Deep is tbh not even from the show but it's the new Liquid Death commercial where he talks about the dangers of sugar. The whole thing is just so hilarious. Actually I had never heard about Liquid Death before the commercial and I genuinely thought that it was just a joke
The Amazon book that’s in the perspective of a podcast interview about The Deep’s biography is great. The audio has Chase Crawford doing he voice and he crushes it.
