Thank you for giving me time to collect my thoughts. This has been a challenging few weeks, and I wanted to make sure I took proper time to clear my head before I spoke about my thoughts on her apology, the comments, the feedback, and everything that has happened since sharing my story and experience. Thank you to everyone who took time to listen with an open mind and heart, and most importantly, to everyone who shared with me that you have felt less alone hearing my story, and encouraged to share your own. Every single one of you are so beautiful and worthy of being heard. You are not alone in your struggles, and if you've ever experienced racism, or discrimination, or any challenge, no matter how big or small, you are worthy and valid and your story matters. Thank you also to all the allies and those who are learning. Thank you for giving minorities the space to share their stories, and for being a support as we are all equal and all valuable humans. I can only hope that we continue to learn and grow together, and maybe have a few laughs along the way. New films and videos coming very very soon! I'm working to get back on my weekly upload schedule for you guys! Thank you for your patience and support. I love you all.
I’m so sorry you have to deal with all of this. I can’t wrap my head around anyone sending you hate. Just remember there are people out there that aren’t disgusting and horrible and do support you :) Also, I think why people protect the bad behavior is because people can’t fathom the idea of admitting that they are wrong/have done something wrong.
This video and the last one just helped me remember that just because someone says it’s a joke doesn’t mean it is or that it’s funny. I think sometimes people forget how hard it is to be biracial. It’s not harder it’s just a different level of hard in a totally different game. You look truly stunning in this video and it inspires me to keep standing up and fighting. Even on the days like yesterday when I truly didn’t know why I should be breathing
i'm sorry did he just say if I want to hear the struggles of a black person then I want it to be from someone darker??? so now we have parameters of if we can experience oppression??
right? So if a black person is born an albino, they don't count??? the person could be 100% black but no pigment so does Keemstar think they're caucasian? He so fucking stupid.
It's like when valid people talk about disability, I had a valid woman (of course she was white) who said that I didn't get to talk about ableism because all my disabilities are invisible, also for her I was too young to be disabled.
@@helenemuscagorry244 and of course able bodied🙄 I thought about that type of discrimination recently in that way exactly. That shit never comes from a disabled person.
@@Kick0a0cat it's why I meant when I said valid, I didn't know the term in English. In France we said valide for able bodies and invalide for disabled people and ableism is called validisme.
So apparently she's black enough for people to call her the n word but she's not black enough to speak up about it. The amount of hypocrisy is actually insane.
"I want to hear from someone darker." Umm, people who are darker have also spoken up about this. We get gaslighted too. "Sensitive." "It's not that bad." "Aren't you exaggerating?" "It's gotten better." etc So, no sir you don't want a darker person, and Black comes in all shades and are valid.
It’s like when guys whine about men’s rights when feminism is the topic of the day, but never any other time. People never ask to listen to dark skinned people until it’s to invalidate light skinned folks. It’s just derailing the conversation. I expect nothing from keem and I’m still disappointed
Keem-whatshisface was defending a man that assaulted a woman saying "it's on her to say no" so anything he says immediately losses all credibility for me. So yeah... Edit: Him being also racist doesn't surprise me.
remember that guy who left youtube after uploading that video of him screaming and crying that he wasn't a pedophile? keem also was like one of the main people who drove him to that
@@rvrcn He also did that with an old man on twitch, I saw a repost of the live where the old man was crying because he was accused to be a pedophile and harassed by keem's little army.
I dont like mykie I think she's a fake person. Never watched her vids. But as for swoop let her cry and beg to be accepted somewhere. Whatever gets views.
Right? I can only imagine the uniquely difficult experience that people who are mixed race must have being told they're "too black" or "not black enough" and I just can't understand how anyone could actually believe those kinds of harmful statements are NOT racist.
@@nodiggity8746 White people have never been oppressed and have never been systemically discriminated against because of skin color. The definition of racism isn't as simple as it used to be. "prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized." That last part is critical. Are white people marginalized? Mmmm nah.
I love the comment about how "you're not black" because your entire ancestry isn't African but when I tell people I'm Italian they don't seem to mind that I'm also German, Welsh, Irish and Scottish. Weird how racists have double standards for white people.
Same! I have a dark olive complexion, so everyone asks “what are you” and I always say Greek. They are satisfied even though I’m half Greek and half all of the super white things my father is 😂
My friend is blond and super pale although her mother is black! Her daughter has the most gorgeous light black skin and my friend is constantly being asked why they adopted a child of colour!
That’s the difference between race and ethnicity , even though you say youre ethnicity is German , welsh, Irish and Scottish you’re skin colour/race still remains the same , thats why she is getting the “not black comment” because in reality she is not black she is mixed her ethnicity is different and her race is different, if she was a mixture of ethnicity but her race still remained black then yes she would be black because her skin colour/race represents black You’re race describes your physical features like how are you getting the 2 mixed up

Even people that wouldn’t be considered mixed have fair skin. My older sister has super fair skin and a face full of freckles, I have medium dark skin but I was born with red hair - both of our parents and their parents would only ever interpret themselves/be interpreted by others as Black. Africans are the most genetically diverse group in the world - almost all traits occur in the diaspora naturally. It’s one of the reasons race identification has been ridiculous since it’s inception - it’s convinced people that only certain circumstances like being mixed or a condition or mutation can create these specific phenotypic outcomes in the groups we’ve been generalizing
@@powerpuff4ever even in that case. Using myself as an example, I am mixed and I have very light skin. That if it wasn’t for my features I wouldn’t even look anything close to black. The thing is I’ve never been made fun of for my skin complexion. Only ever been criticized for my features. “Monkey lips” people have called my hair a rats nest. I’ve even been called the n word before. I have privilege for my lighter skin. He can’t just say “I have darker skin”, when he doesn’t have any features even resembling a black person. I promise you he has never been racially profiled for his skin color. Or ever having gone under any discrimination. Having tan skin but your white, dare I say probably saves you from discrimination
@@powerpuff4ever also what is this obsession some white people have with being more discriminated against than black people. Everytime a black person or even any other person of color were to bring up their stories of discrimination. They get hit with “oh but I have darker skin then you so you have privilege” or even “I think you have more privilege because you are black.” People seem to be missing the point. It doesn’t matter if you are lighter skin tone black person. Yes that provides you with lots of privilege. Even then they get called an inbreed or an abomination.
@@powerpuff4everEXACTLY! I worked with two sisters who looked similar except for coloration and they got stupid people saying they can’t be sisters, etc. So I’m white-brown eyes and hair. I have blond blue eyed family-does that mean we aren’t related? Just stupid.
It’s literally not okay. I’ve had people tell me I can’t speak on black issues because I’m lighter, and it’s funny when lightskins get hate instead of black people??? How is this racist colourism okay? And keemstar is a white jew why is he even speaking.
as a mixed person, the fact that skin color/appearance is somehow indicative of who you are makes me so confused??? like wtf kind of argument lmao edit: I'm mixed white/asian, but based on my experience, the similar sentiment of being considered "less white" or "less asian" depending on how I look that day makes me 🙄
It’s so bizarre the light skinned comment: as if that’s not something that was encouraged by slave owners and (to my shame) British people when they colonised India. This idea of encouraging discrimination in the POC by making them look down on each other based on the shade of skin, never realising to a racist white person it doesn’t matter how light your skin are, you still aren’t white to them. It’s just a way to divide and conquer. Jeepers.
The micro aggressions in all of the comments about micro aggressions being fake are just ironic gold. You’re amazing, I love that you called all of this out!
But seriously, you are loved and so brave for sharing your experiences as a black woman. I know I can’t fully understand what you’ve gone through but I will stand by you!
@@carsensikyta9421 as a white woman i stand by you both! It's crazy how people are conditioned. they can't open their eyes even when it's so clearly in front of us! Skin color really isn't nearly as easy as people think it is. We are white but most of my family members are still darker than me. A lot of genes decide how you will look like. You don't just end up with a perfect mix between your parents skin tones, can happen but it's kind of random like some people just are lefties because someone in that family was one.
Identity politics works both ways. When you say people can't say certain things or believe certain things because they're white, that encourages people to believe the same thing concerning people who are black or biracial etc. In this way, Keem isn't that different from swoop since swoop thinks white people aren't allowed to hold certain opinions without getting 'exposed'. And keem thinks light skinned biracial people can't talk about racism. Not that I even agree with Mykie and I'm biracial myself but I can understand both sides. Identity politics is toxic, no matter what side you're on.
Dude, in germany we've been going to BLM protests for months ... trust me Keem, it's bigger than just American history. America is not the center of the world lmao
You need to meet some of my fellow country folk , they literally feel everything is owed to them , in their simple incestial minds not just the country (usa) but they are the center of the universe individually!! SMH
A black music producer got physically assaulted by four white cops in France for no reason recently, they beat him up with extreme violence and called some of the friends that came to his aid the n word, so no, it's definitely not just an American problem.
I’m half Native American and half white. Although I could never even begin to understand what it’s like to be black in America, in any way, I do understand what it feels like to be told you’re not what you are. That I’m not, “white enough”, to be white, yet not, “dark enough,” to be native; I empathize with you on that. You did a beautiful job using your experience to educate others, absolutely eloquent and incredibly inspiring. ♥️
But if you moved in with a white Mormon family, they could tell everyone about how you are getting whiter by being near them so you could maybe get into Heaven. Ya got that! 🤮🤬Ignorance is sadly everywhere.
Imagine being Lebanese and Native American (a tribal member) and being a called a racist if I share an honest opinion online. Because if someone doesn't like it, my skin looks white and I'm dismissed, as I can't possibly understand what black people have experienced. I look white, so I must be related to slave owners and have no worthwhile thoughts or experiences to share. This knife unfortunately cuts both ways. Colorism doesn't discriminate.
As an ally in training, I must emphasize the “in training” part because I have a lot to learn and implement in my life, you sharing your experiences was in equal measure brave, helpful, and important. Also if Keemstar and his ilk are the kind of people you’re pissing off, you’ve got to know you’re doing the right thing.
I don't get the "ally in training" thing. I am LGBTQ+, and if someone accepts me for who I am, and embraces me for adhering to my sexuality, they aren ally, period. It feels so damn condescending to even consider a straight cis person an "ally in training", I would be so disgusted with myself.
@@lizthedisjointedzebra692 well I think she was trying to say that she is an ally but she doesn’t know as much as she should. I think an ally to any community should be educated in order to defend and be an ally to said community.
I'm 61, white as hell, straight female, live in a medium sized town in the midwest, with about an 8 to 10 percent black population. I've never experienced racism directed at me, but I've certainly seen it directed at people around me. It's disgusting in any form, shameful, and quite frankly sad. I was raised by a very open minded mother, and have tried my whole life to see a person first, anything else secondary. I have failed many times, but keep on trying. I love your channel, because you open my eyes and make me think about things with a different perspective. Thank you Swoop! You're a treasure

He is one of the very few gems on this platform, and yet another gem completely overshadowed by the ridiculous amount of talentless "creators" who rake in endless views for shitty content
As a light skinned black person that grew up in middle of nowhere Kentucky you are not allowed to have an opinion about racism(because you're half white). Even though racist still hate you because being mixed is NOT being white.
Rebecca Iyoha ...how is she playing the victim? who is the victim in this situation? not to say that she is, specifically a “victim” but she was subjected to Mykie’s manipulation and narcissism. just like others such as james whom Mykie used for popularity and views. calling out bad people in public isn’t a bad thing. letting the public know about ones clear downfalls and bad and sneaky behavior that shouldn’t be tolerated to the point that she has a strong platform where she could make money off her gross attitude etc. isn’t a bad thing.
@Rebecca Iyoha I am also a FULLY black women and I don’t think that’s she’s playing the victim. She was tell her story and how she felt in the situation. She talked with Mykie about the situation and how she felt and Mykie would switch up on her. Mykie was the fake friend. And it’s sad that you would degrade another black person’s experience. Just because she’s mixed doesn’t mean that she’s still not black. She’s experienced more shit than I have and I’m darkskinned.
@Rebecca Iyoha I agree. I find some of the things she says hypocritical, and if things really hurt her that bad then why did she stay friends with her for 7 YEARS.
thats why so many mixed people including myself are scared to or dont know how to label themselves in this world because this shit not only comes from the white people but it also comes from the full black/asian/indigenous people as well.
As a light skin indigenous woman, I’ve dealt with a lot of the “you’re not dark enough to have an opinion about your race” bullsh*t. Just because I’m a shade lighter than your expectation of what my race should look like, doesn’t mean my experiences are invalid. And that goes for every race and culture as well.
I can completely understand this I’m a very pale puertorican / mixed person and I legit get told straight to my face to this day you don’t look puertorican or Latino or you can’t be that much or you don’t count because you’re to white which really hurts and bothers because I was born in puertorico speak Spanish and English yet because of my skin tone I’m told I’m not really Spanish enough because I’m not tan like some of my family
I'm only half indigenous, so I don't know if it counts for much, but I swear if I had a dollar for everyone who looked at me stupid or said some Keemstar type of bullshit to me, I could be rich. Like I'm sorry I'm not dark enough/too white to fit your stereotype of what indigenous people look like; or the number of people who just flat out spout racist bullshit about indigenous people right in front of me, and then find out after the fact, and think I'm just fucking with them cause I don't fit what they think I would/should look like, so I don't get a say/an opinion solely because I'm too white.
Light skinned indigenous are referred to as Métis. I am Métis. I’m confused as to why I have to call myself Métis when others get to call themselves black.
I'm a pale Mexican and I was told once that I can't be Mexican because I have freckles... like please tell me what I'm supposed to look like. What stereotype do you want to throw at me lmao
It doesnt matter if youre mixed or completely black like you're still going to experience racism. That's not even an argument or example to use. period.
LITERALLY!! like i’m white passing as hell, but i’ve still had more personal experiences with racism than literally every white person i know because I HAVE SEEN HOW MYSELF AND FAMILY IS TREATED DIFFERENTLY BECAUSE OF OUR SKIN COLOR AND ETHNIC BACKGROUND
I've had a friend (a VERY white girl) claiming to experience racism because she tans, and therefore is dark-skinned. Long story short, she isn't my friend anymore.
Saying that just because you have lighter skin you haven't experienced racism is like saying you haven't experienced homophobia or transphobia, because you are straight or cis passing. It's sad that rather then hearing peoples voices, people will push them down farther.
@Rebecca Iyoha “genuine frustration”? umm... did you not watch the entire video or did you just watch it for like two minutes and felt educated? there were literal SCREENSHOTS of mykie telling swoop and complaining about how jeffree star (who i wholeheartedly hate btw) and james charles are ONLY where they are *because* they are gay men. how is that genuine? unless you’re a GENUINE homophobe, then yeah. other than that, make that shit make sense. please... enlighten me...
@Rebecca Iyoha imagine thinking that being a good friend means to stay silent while listening to your friend talk shit about others behind their backs. imagine... this is the last thing im gonna say bc clearly im not gonna change your mind. being a good friend doesn’t mean shit when you’re treating everyone else like trash. that “good friend” title is useless and just there for looks
@Rebecca Iyoha I actually kinda agree with you. I don’t like the fact she showed personal messages. It’s actually why the beauty community has a bad name and has a reputation for being messy. But it wasn’t just about Mykie, it was about her experiences with racism. For many people TH-cam is a way to vent their frustrations with the world. It’s not about playing the victim. The things she talked about are valid and what many black people have to deal with and she did try to fix things with Mykie but she kept gaslighting her which is why she made a video.
NO, Systemic racism is over. (Well, not for white people because we have affirmative action... that's racist af!) Also, we know racism isn't over, BLM exists! She thinks some trolls messaging her is so bad, 5 yr old kids are getting shot, people are getting punched, kicked, harassed, killed, JUST FOR EXISTING AND BEING WHITE! I would love to see a collab between you and D’Angelo Wallace. You’re both so thorough in your presentation of current issues as well as your own perspectives. You’re very open minded individuals. I think a really great potential topic to discuss could be cultural appropriation/the over-valuing of Eurocentric features in the fashion and beauty industries as you are both incredibly fashionable. However, I, truthfully, think any topic of any variety would be just as interesting to see you discuss. More than anything I just wanna see you guys bounce ideas and opinions off each other. It’s always wonderful to see two beautiful minds working together. 💖
The people saying you’re “not black enough” are the same people who are confused by Kamala Harris being black, Indian, and American. People who are just so white they can’t handle even a slight amount of melanin
Nuh, nuh, nuh. It's alarming.

I can’t wrap my head around the whole “because she’s lightskinned, she can’t experience racism.” Point is, spankie isn’t a blonde hair blue-eyed all American girl. She is visibly a POC, regardless if she’s mixed or not. As an Asian, I experience daily micro-aggressions too. But is this invalid because I’m not black?
it’s bc she is light skin and gets a quote on quote “pass” apparently coming from WHITE people who aren’t BLACK. mixed / light skins still experience racism. point blank.
@Rebecca Iyoha Is being FULLY black supposed to mean something? Like being fully black gives you more of a say in the topic than anyone else? I’ve been that black friend with white friends making comments about black people, except for me because I’m not like those people. She isn’t playing victim.
@Rebecca Iyoha Lol, did you even watch the original video, she tried multiple times to tell Mykie, who was still blindingly ignorant to everything and she still stuck around because she cared. Also who tf are you to decide whether someone a good or bad friend when the only info you have is from *her* video. You can't dictate what a personal friendship is based on a 1hr edited video 😂. I am definitely an ally in training. I didn’t realize for so many years I was doing things like this without any idea it was effecting people, so now I’m doing my best to never put down someone else’s struggle because I am struggling, honestly just never putting down someone’s struggle period. I now just try to relate the emotions without downplaying emotions. I truly wish people would have told me that what I was doing was wrong because I genuinely was so oblivious to what I was doing, but now I know it wasn’t their responsibility to tell me I was wrong, it was my responsibility to know I was wrong. Thanks to videos like yours and so many others I can reflect back and make changes, which has been such a blessing in this journey to support my fellow brothers and sisters the best way I can. I would also like to add that I didn’t really understand the gravity of problems people of color (is that the correct terminology?) face before this year, which I know is so awful to say, and I feel so guilty for never standing up to racism before. This year opened up channels of communication for me and soooo much information to build my knowledge on how to be a better ally and how to protect the victims and be a part of the solution rather than just ignore the issue/be a part of the problem. My friends really took their time to help me learn, and were very good at explaining why staying silent was indeed picking a side (which I never ever thought of before). I am so glad people like yourself continue to share your stories so I can continue to learn and grow. I am a huge fan of Mykie and it hurt my heart to see the things she was saying, and my first thought was “she wouldn’t do that” but then I realized that kind of behavior is what pushes the victims aside, so I continued watching and it was so powerful. You are so powerful. From the bottom of my heart I appreciate you sitting down to tell your story, which isn’t easy, and being so great at educating without belittling. You don’t deserve all the horrible comments you received, no one deserves to feel less than about something like their color, no one deserves to feel less than because they victimized. You have inspired me to continue to learn and continue to try my hardest to be a better ally. I just think you deserve some more positive comments, and I wanted you to know that you are inspiring, and amazing. And the only thing I will say, or anyone should say, about your skin is how flawless it is, like soooooo smooth!!!
This was a very uplifting comment. As a poc, I'm proud you were able to listen to your friends and willing to learn. That is the first step in a huge change for us, and we appreciate you standing with us. Keep doing your best, we appreciate your support and I wish you well on your journey :) ❤
This right here. I’m also trying to grow as a better ally. A lot of the racist comments that were said are things that you grow up hearing in a predominantly white countryside community and it’s not right.
As someone who has been a fan of mykie for a few years, but doesnt use instagram, i didn't even know she attempted to apologize. I think for such a serious, large-scale issue she should have posted it multiple places if she actually meant the apology.
I use Instagram and I honestly didn't even KNOW that she posted an apology (and I've only remembered to unfollow just now). Seriously, Instagram stories are so easy to miss a lot of the time :/
between the summer events that stemmed from George Floyd and breanna taylot combined with the election and COVID, a lot of people have shown their true colors, and its led me to not only unfollow a lot of influencers, but also reevaluate the people in my day to day life as well
In all seriousness, thank you for educating allies and more, I know that this is emotional labor for you and others in the Black community. You didn't need to do this, you didn't need to publicly call out microaggressions and you did, and that takes strength.
When all these people getting mad at your biracialness don't realize that Obama is biracial... LOL don't act like it's not a factor. I'm guessing you're probably calling Kamala Harris black too? So ironic. I love and respect the way you handled this topic so much.
I know this is old now SWOOP, but I need to say THANK YOU for this. I'm a white woman who has an absolutely beautiful 6mo mixed race granddaughter. She's half black and just like you she's light skinned. I have never dealt with racism and the nastiness that goes along with it so I'm clueless as to what that experience is like. No one should be writing things like that to you or anyone else!! I've been educating myself issues that affect poc youth and culture cuz it'll most likely impact my sweet grandbaby one day and that's heartbreaking!! She's being raised by a white family ( her bio dad chose not to be in the picture and that's not due to him being a black man, he's just an ass. Just making that clear lol ) so is she gonna grow up and be not enough too?? Not white enough? Not black enough? All I know is she's the most beautiful little girl and I'm in love. She's more than enough for me. So thank you for speaking out and telling your personal story. You represent YOU and that's all I was looking for. You are valid and your story is valid. Petty is also my love language lol. You are amazing Swoop! Thank you, ❤️
My grandkids are latino. (They moved in next to me in 2018 & we became family.) My youngest granddaughter ( she was 5 at the time) brought a friend of hers home & I came over and my granddaughter introduced me to her as her grandmother and the little girl looked very confused and said to her you can’t have a white grandma. My granddaughter ( who has way to much attitude for her tiny little body ) put her hands on her hips and got this ver stern look on her face and said she’s not white she’s Spanish English. I said what am I she said Spanish English. I said what are you. She said Spanish. I said what is your mom and dad she said Spanish. I said why. She said you talk Spanish English and I talk Spanish. I said you talk English too. She said but you talk more English so you are Spanish English. It was the most beautiful thing ever. She sees people by the language they speak and who they are on the inside. I’m 43 and alt/goth white disabled woman but they see nothing but their grandma. I wish everyone could see the way they do.
I know this is a really late response to your really late response but I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your comment. I am a 39 year old white woman with a mixed race daughter. Luckily her dad is awesome and we are still together but it would have meant a lot to have family like you.
@@thia41012 Thank you so much for your kind words. I’m the one who is lucky to have them. They are the most amazing and loving family. Just last week when I went over for a visit my grandkids gave me a split dye wig half white hair and half black hair. They had their mom buy it for me because everyone is dressing up for the Barbie movie and I am not the Barbie type, I am the Monster High doll type. They got me this wig so I wouldn’t feel sad or left out since everyone else was dressing like Barbie. It was the absolute sweetest thing ever. So actually I am the one who is blessed. I’m sure you will find a friend that will love your daughter as much as I love my grandkids someday. When you do that friend will probably do what I do and spoil her every time they can. Kids are amazing no matter what is going on or how hard things are they can always seem to make your problems go away and make life seem so much better.
Thanks so much for your replies and stories! I'm so sorry that your family wasn't supportive. I hope you and your partner were able to find that love and support from friends and others. You sound like a wonderful Mom and your daughter is so blessed to have you!! 💕 I hope the world out kids and grandkids live in stops gatekeeping culture and starts sharing it and that they can feel valued and respected for the ppl they are. Update* my granddaughters father is in her life now and he's actually a good Dad! I still don't know why he wasn't there, but I'm happy to have him here as long as he treats my girls with the love, care and respect they deserve.

@Rebecca Iyoha 3 weeks later and I’m reading this crazy ass comment. Please do not get on here and try to make a statement that makes you feel as if you know what you’re talking about. If you actually cared enough to watch her whole video, you would have heard where she stated that she isn’t normally posting things like this on her channel, but as a Influencer, she has a job to do, (We all should learn from this, because we all have a job to do, especially in times that we are going through now.) and she isn’t going to be quiet anymore. If she wants to make this public, she can, that’s her choice as a powerful individual. Maybe you shouldn’t be on here if you have a problem with her content. There is so much more to these videos than just a woman talking about someone she thought was her friend, and to be honest, this content isn’t for everyone. Some people just can’t/ and never will be able to wrap their head around the concept of topics this deep. You don’t know what she has went through, and that does apply to anyone in general..but don’t let someone that looks so happy with life and has thousands of subscribers make you think that that’s just how life is, that they don’t go through obstacles and that there life is perfect, because that’s not so. Everyone goes through hardships, it’s just a matter of if we pull ourselves through it. Maybe you should try being a leader, standing up for what’s right, pointing out those that are wrong by educating them, and making sure that you have your facts in a row instead of being a follower and reacting based off of impulse. It’s time to make a change, and be the change you want to see in the world. No negativity allowed.
@S D didn’t say racism was specific to black people, but this is a video of a black woman responding to racism, being told by white people that racism doesn’t exist. that’s simply not true. don’t tell me to use a dictionary if you can’t comprehend a sentence properly 💞

It sucks when people automatically think that you’re not hispanic or black enough solely because you don’t look the part or speak like however it is they want us to speak. I’ve been told I was the whitest hispanic they have ever met several times making me have an identity crisis lol but we good now👌🏼
Yes im Mexican and some friends from the USA came to visit and where saying that we are the whitest Mexicans they have ever seen, people don’t realize, in the case of Mexicans, that you can find, white, blond, redheads, blue, green eyes Mexicans, as well as afromexicans, Asian “looking” mexicans, indigenous Mexicans and everything in between, all 100% Born and raised in Mexico, is like they get this idea of what other people must look or talk and are blind to the other possibilities ✌🏼
I was told in high school by someone that I was the whitest black person they ever met. Didn’t really think too much on it at the time, but yeah, it was relatively racist. And what do you know, I’m neither black or white. I don’t even know what my race is (I’m Brazilian). I just call myself ambiguously brown lol

Thank you for making a follow-up to the first video, I hope this helps you deal with everything that came as an aftermath. It helps me get more information and therefore more educated about the topic of racism and how much we've internalised a lot of it.
I really think that it is our responsibility to make each other aware of our hurtful behaviors. I would hope that if I ever hurt someone, especially a friend, that they would immediately tell me and not let it fester and build resentment. We need to hold each other accountable and educate each other.

I'm a big Mykie fan, and this was a hard pill to swallow, but I'm very grateful that you explained it to the extent that you did. We, as people, still have so much work to do for equality, it's saddening that it's 2020 and we still have to explain to people why we are ALL PEOPLE and should be treated as such. Thank you for making this video in the tone that its in. You help up a mirror to some people, and I hope they will seriously look at themselves and their actions moving forward. Thank you for your voice here. Thank you for everything.
it's baffling to see people being so casually racist and bigoted, excusing their behavior as opinions, and people defending those who do this i understand it must have been so difficult to do, but thank you for these videos, i'm still learning and they have helped a lot also people apologizing and expecting instant forgiveness is purely them trying to absolve themselves of bad behavior, it's not a real apology true atonement and accountability comes from actions and changed behavior acceptance of an apology takes time and even after any changes you don't have to accept the apology
As a mixed woman, Thank you so much for making these videos. For most of my life I’ve been to white to be black and to black to be white, It took me a long time in my life to find Harmony within myself and not let those negative comments affect how I view myself. I was a fan of Mykie at one point in time and I really did enjoy her talent, but to find out these troubling things and to see how toxic her Fanbase is is really saddening. Thank you so much for bringing this issue to the for front and not hiding it from us. It’s really hard to know what influencers these days are doing it for the love of their craft and to spread positivity or if they are demons in disguise. I also want to thank you for giving me representation as a mixed woman I appreciate how strong you are❤️❤️❤️
I know I am super late to this party.... but I am beyond shocked. Disgusted would be a better word to describe my feelings on some of the comments you have received. There are NO WORDS, I am just thoroughly revolted. How you handle these monstrosities is beyond me but you do it with humor, class and ferocious gorgeousness. Just found your channel and you are wonderful
Swoop, Thank You for this. As someone who followed and adored Mykie for years, when I first heard/saw your video, my immediate reaction felt suuper defensive, because I was tired of unfollowing/cancelling people I originally liked. I so badly didn't want it to be true that I had hoped she had changed by 2020 but the more I sat with it and thought about it, the worse it felt that she didn't reach out to have a serious conversation when she was spamming BLM on her insta stories earlier this year. I consider myself a learning Ally. I started attending protests in 2014 and one of the first things I did was reach out to and apologize to black friends I definitely accidentally used microaggressions against in high school. the fact that people who follow her feel comfortable enough to message you racist threatening DMs sits super gross with me. Unless she better demonstrates change and anti racism and not fake trendy activism and no longer lets those racists feel comfortable on her channel, I probably wont watch her anymore.

I'm late, but I appreciate the thought and effort that you put into both videos. You do a great job of covering complicated and emotional topics without them getting muddled...and with great humor and stern humility.
It’s so incredibly astounding that the people who keep saying that she (and other mixed people) “doesn’t look/ isnt black enough” to speak on black issues are 1. mainly white, and 2. Still have absolutely no problem using the hard r n-word in the same sentence that they are denouncing her blackness. It’s really boggling my mind at how oblivious these types of people are to their own hypocrisy.
I wanted to beat my head on my desk hearing that. I'm Jewish with an iron deficiency. My skin color isn't even close to that of my also Jewish spouse and our kiddo. There are so many reasons in the world why skin color is different for everyone.

Hi Swoop. i am 1/2 asian (mom) and 1/2 Caucasian (dad). I relate more to the asian side because the white side felt mom was beneath them. For context, they were one of the first mixed marriages in Boston's Chinatown post WWII. My maternal grandmother knew how much dad loved mom and would take care of her, which he did until his death. His memorial was 90% HIS Chinese family. He made us all proud.
People simply not watching will do that. People coming after him for having an opinion (even if you disagree) is only doing to him what people deem wrong for others to do to them.

i am apalled, but not surprised, to see the level of confidence these people display when tossing around n-words and other epithets. YIKES. so sorry you had (and have) to deal with that shit.
Spankie was kind and opted to omit the clip of him with his ancestry results saying he was black (some tiny percentage) and could say whatever he wanted. 🤡
I absolutely despise people using a some kind of weird colour chart in their heads to decide just how black you are/should be speaking/are acting. My brother and I are both quarter Jamaican and as you can see from my pic, I’m insanely pale (and get told I’m white passing so often it’s acc annoying) and my brother has a darker complexion than you. It doesn’t matter about percentages or how light or dark your skin is, if you have experienced racism or micro aggressions, you have and that’s for you to tell not somebody else. If you talk a certain way, you do and that’s nothing to do with your race. People don’t realise that these dumb ass comments about your skin colour or actions or speech are the exact reason we’re all made to feel a certain way, they’re part of the problem.
I'm glad you were able to laugh all that hate off. But that shit just pissed me off for you. People are sick and sad. To think most of those people were probably teenagers. I wish you would had went off but you handled this with a lot of maturity. A lot of respect.
Let's SCREAM THIS OUT LOUD "free country" or not, racism needs to be punished by law. And I don't just mean hate crime, I'm talking about any sort of comment or even straight up representative form of racism.
I’m leftist as fuck and that’s how dictatorships start. Racism comes from a place of hatred and ignorance, maybe we should educate and have harder repercussions for blatant racism (like losing more jobs and opportunities, not jail)
As much as I don’t like people looking at anyone differently just for the color of the skin, I cannot agree with this bc it infringes on the constitution. It’s a belief, just because it’s wrong doesn’t make you wanting to punish the person right. It’s how really really bad things start. I know you likely came from a good place but it’s a nah from me. I won’t live in a communist/ dictator regime.
Yes!!! Re-education camps need to be established in every state, and some places, like here in Oklahoma, every county (or Parrish in Louisiana), and lock them the fuck up until they learn how to act right!!!!

You’re amazing, I love that you called all of this out!

the way when someone speaks up about the racism they face then everyone's judging BY THEIR SKIN and saying wether their black or not for them..

Half Native as well but very white passing. No one can ever make me feel aware of my ethnicity like a racist white person

She was tell her story and how she felt in the situation. thats why so many mixed people including myself are scared to or dont know how to label themselves in this world because this shit not only comes from the white people but it also comes from the full black/asian/indigenous people as well.
Why is America so focused on skin tones it's so exhausting. We come in all shades in my country and literally no one gives a fuck.
Right...I've seen my friends whether light skinned, mixed or dark and lovely experience same racist issues.
The fact that yt people make a big deal about the fact that she's mixed and not 100% black is also extremely problematic and kinda racist in itself

I hope the world out kids and grandkids live in stops gatekeeping culture and starts sharing it and that they can feel valued and respected for the ppl they are.

No negativity allowed.
the white people telling a black woman how to feel about racism is so funny to me
RIGHT
@S D didn’t say racism was specific to black people, but this is a video of a black woman responding to racism, being told by white people that racism doesn’t exist. that’s simply not true. don’t tell me to use a dictionary if you can’t comprehend a sentence properly 💞
Not funny, very sad. Its been going on for years.

Being someone who is fully Hispanic, my skin color is pretty pale if I’m not in the sun all the time. It sucks when people automatically think that you’re not hispanic or black enough solely because you don’t look the part or speak like however it is they want us to speak. I’ve been told I was the whitest hispanic they have ever met several times making me have an identity crisis lol but we good now👌🏼
I’m not trying to sound malicious or anything just curious I get ur Hispanic but what’s ur race?
Yes im Mexican and some friends from the USA came to visit and where saying that we are the whitest Mexicans they have ever seen, people don’t realize, in the case of Mexicans, that you can find, white, blond, redheads, blue, green eyes Mexicans, as well as afromexicans, Asian “looking” mexicans, indigenous Mexicans and everything in between, all 100% Born and raised in Mexico, is like they get this idea of what other people must look or talk and are blind to the other possibilities ✌🏼
@@Dont_at_me You are asking what country they are from? Why does that matter?
I was told in high school by someone that I was the whitest black person they ever met. Didn’t really think too much on it at the time, but yeah, it was relatively racist. And what do you know, I’m neither black or white. I don’t even know what my race is (I’m Brazilian). I just call myself ambiguously brown lol
As a Native person, “go back to where you came from” comments from white people to POC always make me want to jump in and be like “you first!”
Right?! Like okay, when are you flying back to Europe? Lol my daughter and her father and Dinè. We had one asshole come up to us and tell us to go back where we came from. He did a spin and said, “WHOA! That was a short trip!” 😂😂

Imagine if Keem Star knew BOTH of my parents are black, both are darker skinned than I am (think Jay Z and Rihanna) and I'm SUUUPER LIGHT SKIN!
Oh Nooooo. I think his head might explode.
it's baffling to see people being so casually racist and bigoted, excusing their behavior as opinions, and people defending those who do this
i understand it must have been so difficult to do, but thank you for these videos, i'm still learning and they have helped a lot
also people apologizing and expecting instant forgiveness is purely them trying to absolve themselves of bad behavior, it's not a real apology
true atonement and accountability comes from actions and changed behavior
acceptance of an apology takes time and even after any changes you don't have to accept the apology
I also want to thank you for giving me representation as a mixed woman I appreciate how strong you are❤️❤️❤️
Everytime I'm amazed at how hard some people can miss the point, how ignorant and hateful someone can be. Just wow.

Women should support women no matter the color. All the women discriminating because of her color should be ashamed..
It shows that no one hates women more than some women. It's so sad seeing how many women sent hate to her for speaking up and using her voice.
Everyone should understand that color means nothing. But its so weird that racism happens so often within women.

i assumed the reason she responded on her insta stories was because she had been publically mentioning dealing with an unknown illness and hasnt filmed any videos of her own either prior to your video coming out.
Hi Swoop. i am 1/2 asian (mom) and 1/2 Caucasian (dad).
You have such beautiful history❤️
I was so embarrassed by this Keem person... Not as a white person, but as a human.
The fact that keemstar said that- he needs to be cancelled ASAP

Spankie was kind and opted to omit the clip of him with his ancestry results saying he was black (some tiny percentage) and could say whatever he wanted. 🤡

It doesn’t
@@PamsPrettyPlants honestly tho. he is so ignorant. Imagine having to pay to take an ancestry test to figure out you are "black". hes such a tool.
