PLOT TWIST: TH-cam demonetized MY video while still running their own ads, and running ads on ACTUALLY offensive, abusive content. If I can't freely discuss how to better protect at risk communities, and share my own stories of harassment (without going into any detail) without being punished, then what? Stack the cards against those calling for change, and fund those who are propelling the decline. A bunch of people have asked for my cashapp to help cover the loss of monetization, so I made one that will go to funding my films/documentaries: $SwoopFilms (don’t feel obligated to donate if you’re not comfortable, just posting for those asking. And, Welp, You can watch my deep dive about David Dobrik and influencers: th-cam.com/video/nXerct-eN7I/w-d-xo.html

I’m 26 and am very aware that I am mistaken for 18-19 years old all the time. Men (usually late 20s early 30s!) used to approach me at bars/public places and ask “how old are you?” and my response is always “how old do you think I am?” because that exposes them in a way that makes them really uncomfortable and they usually walk away! James says he’s attracted to “younger looking guys” but then also only dates kids as young as a “senior in high school” (his words! wtf!) That’s not a physical attraction, that’s a psychological dynamic he wants, where he’s the “older, wiser” one and therefore holds the power! I dated someone in their 30s when I was 22 and I look back and cringe because WOW that age card gets pulled all the time and makes the younger person in the relationship so easily manipulated and the older person knows it. If it truly was a physical thing, there are people his age who have the “youthful” features and he can go ahead and pursue that if that’s his “type” but your “type” should not include an age range!!!!

I can’t stand when victims are blamed. My mother was sexually assaulted by her uncle when she was about 8 years old and her own mother to this day calls her a liar because it is easier for her to do that then to deal with her own guilt for leaving her daughters with a pedophile. I’ve seen what it has done to her. Her depression, her nearly killing herself, the constant tears...everything...It is a lifelong battle for survivors to overcome their trauma. I wish no child would ever have to suffer any kind of abuse.

I was also 8, and in court I was painted as just being vindictive towards my friend's dad. He sexually assaulted me when I was 7 and didn't tell anyone until the day that their family moved away, so they made it seem like I was just mad at them for the move. Some people will find a way, in any situation, to blame the victims and it's so hurtful and harmful.

I'm so incredibly with you on this! Right at the beginning of quarantine I went through and purged my subs+blocked people because I was tired of seeing the same conversations being had about the same 10% of influencers constantly getting into "drama" or "controversy." Also, we saw over the last year, the complete performativity of some of these top influencers when it came to supporting social justice movements, a real reticence to talk about race, and denial of the experiences of BIPOC. As a person of color, I'm fucking tired of it. As a result, I found myself following more and more creators of color because they are not afraid to talk about race. Some of my favs are Stephanie Soo, Kennie JD, Khadija Mbowe, withcindy, D'angelo Wallace, and Xiran Jay Zhao!
ALSO, BIPOC are not over here "making it about race." The concept of race arose out of European Enlightenment thinkers/scientists trying to classify human beings of different cultures and ethnicities in such a way that always put them at the top (see Bluembach and his color theory of racism) and European imperialism/colonialism. Things are already about race, we're just sharing our experiences. Glad you're talking about it!

I was sexually groomed by three different men when I was 12 years old. They weren’t celebs but they groomed me for a year before my parents found out. It sadly happened again when I was 14-15 with a completely different man. This happened until I was 16-17 and I hid this from my family due to the first situation. I only came forth under a year ago as the guy found me on Instagram and tried to speak to me.
I had a mental breakdown and tried to commit suicide due to the mental and emotional stress I was under. I didn’t feel safe and I was scared and ashamed. I was made to feel like the guilty party when I was a MINOR. I was a VICTIM. My parents supported me but my sisters didn’t understand and partly don’t to this day. This is a reflection of our society. My story, my children’s stories, my friend’s stories, my family member’s stories and millions upon millions of us are enduring the abuses, the residual affects of the abuses & all the consequences, thereafter, having been blamed, shamed, gaslit, turned away, left without supports, lacking resources and for many, fear of trying to be heard AGAIN, trying to seek justice AGAIN, trying to protect ourselves & our loved ones, fearing and yet grateful for each new day that arrives. Yeah. I’m tired. I’m scared. I’m struggling. All we want is peace and safety. Assured peace & safety. There are a trillion reasons, while we’re on the subject, as to, “why don’t you just leave???” (a question so damaging, so soul crushing that just echos there on, as if it’s being said throughout every single day... and that’s from the first time it’s asked). It’s because abusers are protected. Because it’s easier to disbelieve & ignore and this, even, perpetuated by victims, themselves because they’re frightened of these lonely truths. And because who has rights??? People with money enough to purchase them via representation or those with other sources of power or those with large supports that they’ve thoroughly convinced that their character is spotless, all the while, four walls and a locked door, protects their true selves and imprisons their victim/s. These TH-cam & celebrity abusers... they’re literally exposed of their abuses and nothing happens because a gigantic society pads their way. We live in a world where we can literally watch black men die, televised all over the world and nothing happens. We live in a country that’s immovably divided over issues that come back round and affect the very people that support their existence and nothing happens. I don’t know what the answer is but, whatever it is, it isn’t arriving soon enough.

@@MissJiGsSong he has said in the past that he feels like he is an old soul and much more mature for his age. But then says he's attracted to younger guys. That makes no sense at all in my opinion. If you feel like you are very mature for your age, you aren't going to want to chase after young guys. You want someone who matches your goals and is stable in life. Not some kid who lives with their parents and just plays on Tiktok all day. Where he would be more like a parent to them then a boyfriend in a relationship. The fact that there are people who have been canceled for far less. And he's been caught multiple times and still gets sponsors and PR is disgusting to me. I truly feel that he is actually stunted mentally from getting popular at such a young age. 20:39 I recently realized (or rather, BookTube taught me) that almost all my favorite books from middle and high school were stalker romances. I was taught by the media I consumed that abusive behavior from men was the pinnacle of romance. That it was desirable. That it was what I should expect from a relationship or life partner.
And it boils my blood that we're still doing this as a culture. One of the most popular young adult authors right now, to my knowledge, has only ever acknowledged physical abuse in her books, despite the presence of rampant themes of emotional abuse, financial abuse, and more. I get why the books are popular, and I don't think making them unavailable is the answer, but why can't we teach youth that this is abusive? That it's stalking, gaslighting, grooming? And help our young ones understand through these characters why it's so hard to break free when you love someone in spite of their abuse? That's what I'll be doing if I ever become a parent, at least.

As a survivor myself I know that it is not easy to even think about this shit but to talk about it, yeah, you brave.
I'll tell my story now, as I know that everyone who speaks up can courage someone else to speak up - speaking about these things in safe place can reduce the shame so much. Shame should not be in the heart of victim but in those monsters who put the shame on the victim.
I was violently raped at the age of 14. That fucked me up in so many ways, I got PTSD and serious one at that w/ dissociative disorder.
But my story that connects to this victim blaming is this.
I was invited to party at the age of 19 at my friends friend house. I went. I was drunk. I do not remember much after I drank somerhing, that was offered to me. I woked up w/out my pants, next to me was the house owner. I was Hurt. I knew somerhing have happened, something had done to me as it hurted, I could feel it and I crawled into shower. Everything was blurry. I called my bf mom to pick me up and told her. I felt dirty, I felt so ashamed. I still have to Wonder what was done to me, as I am not sure but something bad, bad and abusive.
I did not want anyone to know.
Well, this fcn dude went ahead and told everybody in our friend group that I am lying about that he raped me. I did not want anyone to know but he told everyone AND that I was lying. It was afwul. I had to tell to so many people who asked that yea, he raped me, no I did not want everyone to know. But almost everyobody saw that I spoke the truth. Not all. First, he raped me, then he blamed me.
I went to doctor, older male. He told me "well, at least now you know not to drink !" He blamed me altought I was drugged. This doctor did not offer me any help that he should have had, in Finland, in these cases doctor should offer support services.
That is my story. It was Hard to write. But I am not guilty, I should not feel ashamed. First he took my integrity & then tried to put the shame on me.
I am survivor. I have been in therapy for many years for these incidents and I survived. I am not so scared anymore, ashamed anymore of have such bad panic- & dissociative attacts as I used to. It hurts still, my childhood was taken from me, my youth was taken from me
But my soul, my soul was not taken by those Wolfes, the abusers or victimblamers. My soul is mine and I keep it pure and loving No Matter what.
    That they can not take.🌻🧡🌻
Thia was long one, if you read this, thank you for hearing me & my story.

I think one reason why people are hesitant to admit their favorite influencers are problematic is because no one wants to believe the people they've come to admire are bad people, or they're willing to overlook fault in order to not have to give up watching their content.
I mean I'm sure there's some people out there who just don't care, but I think the majority of people just don't want to admit their heroes aren't heroes, and they're willing to fight to maintain that mental image they have.
Part of being an adult is having the maturity to make responsible decisions, including ensuring you aren't engaging in inappropriate behavior with minors, it's not on them, it's on the adult. I think maaaaaybe 1% of these cases account for minors who lied about their age, but the fact that there's multiple instances should be evidence enough that that's not the case.

Thank you for making this video I’m so glad I found your channel.
I think with the point of abusive men is media often sensationalizes how abusive men or people often act and puts in usually in extreme situations only. Where people who grew up seeing that won’t always realize just cause you were hit or weren’t abused to what could be an extreme of that abusive behavior they met not realize.
Often times people who grew up abused are used to having that type of treatment even if they don’t realize. They treat themselves with whatever standards they grew up with and seek out partners and sometimes the partners take the role and start treating them abusively.
So I think it’s a continuous cycle where people give attention to abusive men and abusive people not always recognizing or ignoring their toxic traits. Or blaming the people who fall out of the norm and speak up since their charismatic or kind boss would never do that. Or someone who has power of them would never.
Abusers like to be in positions of power for control and go exert their power over others in whatever ways they see fit. They’re given places where they can test the limits and figure out how to continually get away with things.
From personal experience both paternal figures my father and my ex stepdad have been abusive throughout my life in different ways. But they’re both likeable people most who don’t know me well or anyone they’ve hurt well are more likely to ignore us. It’s hard sometimes to cut people off as well if you don’t have any support and struggle to just be enough for yourself.
There’s so much to this topic and it’s so upsetting and frustrating to keep watching and see more and more come out about how people and children especially children keep getting hurt.
I was SA as a child more than once and have had to deal with this my entire life like most people who are afab.
The fact I can say my biggest fear in my life for my future is when I have a child and if they get SA cause they’d be the third generation in a row that I personally know of that would’ve had to go through it.
I didn’t mean for this comment to get so long. But I will be watching more of your content. Thank you again for bringing attention to this.

As a survivor of grooming, I saw this a mile away and people always told me I was a crappy person for having a negative vibe about JC...calling me anti-gay, even though I'm Pansexual, telling me I'm bullying 'a kid' when I say there's something off about him besides his obnoxious sense of entitlement...anything to deflect it seems. You took all of the thoughts swirling in my head and articulated them in a way I simply couldn't. To answer the request of my fav non problematic creators atm:
Recently I've been watching a lot of; "Mr Ballen" he is an ex (I believe) navy seal that covers true crime/the occult/creepy stories. His videos are well edited and he had a lot of really interesting knowledge of diving and combat that lends itself to his genre of video very well
    - if you love horror movies and movie reviews good old "foundflix" is amazing, he is so funny and he takes a lot of time and consideration when he reviews/explains a movie. I found him like 3 years ago and I have never missed an upload.
    - a couple amazing LGBTQ creators that I love are "Luxaria" "rolly reacts" and "jammidoger" if you like makeup, reviews of bad plastic surgery reality shows, piercing culture, and wholesome relationships and friendships then all three of these are awesome. (Rolly and luxaria, as well as rolly and Jamie have collaborated which is why they are together"
-I usually recommend Swoop to people 😅
If you want to venture off of TH-cam and you like standup I can't recommend Kumail Nanjiani's comedy special "Beta Male" enough, (I listen to it on Spotify but it is also on Crave) I was in tears laughing, also any of patton Oswald's comedy specials are amazing but talking for clapping and annihilation are two show stoppers
