My ancestry DNA results changed as well. The main change was that my Eastern European DNA somehow went from 21% to 5%! Not too happy about that, especially since Croatian is next on my list of languages to learn (I learned Spanish as an adult, and am currently learning French.) My maternal great-grandmother, who I knew quite well (she lived to 93) was half Croatian and half Slovenian (one parent born in each country,) so I'm kind of doubtful that the Ancestry update is more accurate than it was. It does still show 26% European Jewish, from my Jewish paternal grandmother, all of whose 19th c. ancestors lived in Eastern Europe or the Baltic region (Ukraine, Belorussia, and Lithuania.)
Thanks so much for sharing your results. Yea it stinks when the percentage changes so much, same happened with my French dna, originally I was much higher then i went to the single digits lol.
DNA percentage is also based off of your relatives that have already tested. I kept showing up with more eastern European after my mom and her brother tested. We're part Czech and Hungarian and Slovak. However, a there's also a ton of overlap in these groups with Germanic, which I show up as half of. However, my English kept dropping and southeastern European kept showing up (we're part Austro Hungarian, and the Balkans are next door) That's also because my whole dad's side tested. And they're largely colonial German and not quite as English as they thought (they're half, not all )

The north african component may also be from the guanche of the canary islands as many of them came to puerto rico when theyvwere colonized, north africans were arabized not europeanized although there were many cities, particularly on the medditeranean coast during the roman and greek periods of conquest
Cool results. Check out the Caribbean country of Dominica. The indigenous people are still over there thriving in large numbers in their own communities. Of course the African descendant population is there and the other races as well.

Taino’s were a Native American tribe not African, they derive from Siberia way back during ice age when natives discovered North and South America and migrated here.
When Muslim Spain fell many of the Moors and the Jews who lived alongside them who could not escape to Muslim countries were forced to become Christian. So many Spanish and Portuguese people have Moorish and Jewish ancestry.

Taínos were not exterminated, they mixed. Puerto Ricans, Cubans and Dominicans are taking DNA tests and all have Taino blood. Some of them died but not all. This is the result of the black legend against Spain. If you are descendant from people from the Canary Islands you will have guanche DNA from North African. Most Canarians are a mixed race between Spaniards and berebers (guanche). Portugal snd Spain are the same people (both descend from Celts and Iberians). I am from the Canary Islands
I'm in the 1500s and my Spain is not Cristian. I have found where my Moors ancestors were exiled for not converting and once in the canary islands after exile they converted for an opportunity to go to the new world. So depending on when your ancestors were in Spain will determine if they were Jewish Muslim or cristian. Dont forget Spain was Muslim prior to 1492 for 900 years.
@@CurlyBoyChuck ❤ what i meant was also that in ancestry it will say Spain but in reality when my ancestors were there it was not Spain yet and it was also not part of Europe. So its not "white european" Also when Puerto Rico was under Spanish rule I believe that also contributes to it saying Spain due to documentation "supporting Spain Iberian penninsula" again not white European. Also the Jewish people that were exiled in biblical times were in Africa. Geographically speaking Israel is on the same tectonic plate as the continent of Africa. They went through Africa which mixed with our African ancestors. I am also 2% Jewish. So you have yo look for history outside of 🇺🇸 textbooks and then follow the documentation trail you find on ancestry to determine your own ancestral history. PS if you come to a relative and there's no record from puerto rico before 1800s....that's your biggest Taino bloodline😉 im fascinated by this type of research.

Thx for watching and for your breakdown, I def appreciate it 😘
@@CurlyBoyChuck ❤ what i meant was also that in ancestry it will say Spain but in reality when my ancestors were there it was not Spain yet and it was also not part of Europe. So its not "white european"
Also when Puerto Rico was under Spanish rule I believe that also contributes to it saying Spain due to documentation "supporting Spain Iberian penninsula" again not white European.
@@aleannetainomagik2993 you can’t leave out the migrations from Spain and the Canary Islands that followed afterwards once the crown began losing its territories in South America during the formation of la gran Colombia. During the 18th and 19th century thousands of families from the canaries made their way to the island and contributed heavier to the gene pool than any of the other European groups that settled including corsicans Irish and Dutch.
In 1492 we reconquered Granada, the last city under moors rule. So, yes in 1500 Spain was already Christian for 8 years. 😜
@@aleannetainomagik2993I think you’re really confused. Iberian peninsula always was European and white. Iberian and Celt tribes were in iberian peninsula or hispania before during and after the moors. The name Andalus comes from vandals a Germanic tribe. The change de name to Al Andalus which means the land of vandals. All the Germanic tribes that came into Iberian mixed and adapted to the Iberian and Celt Iberian culture. They
We’re also tartessos, aquitanians, Phoenicians and Greek. They didn’t mov, they didn’t mixed with moors until the reconquista when the kings alowed to moors to stay if the converted to Christianism.

@@CurlyBoyChuck OK! I was hoping that’s what you said.
Its funny how south americans are called latino. Latin is a Roman language.
When they say North African, i wish they wud be more specific. i have 6 + % North African, but it frustrates me cause i want it to be more specific. im proud to have Jewish in me too ♥️ my great grandparents survived 💝✨✨✨
Los Canarios son de origen bereber (norteafricano) mezclado con español, y llegaron en gran número a Puerto Rico. De hecho hablan con un acento muy parecido, un español de la península no distingue si está hablando con un puertorriqueño o un Canario.
That comes from Canary Islands most probably
What was your total African DNA?
I was going to ask the same.
Im portuguese lolol. Maybe we have distant relatives in common 😂😂
The African DNA explains the curly hair I guess. Two of my grandsons have very curly hair - not quite Afro but close - and they have one South African mixed descent grandparent. The rest of their ancestry is Euro/Asian. That Afro DNA is strong!
Not really many White people have curly hair have you see some red heads from ireland and scotland??
Curly hair is common in Europeans
You have high central
African which is rare for Puerto Ricans
Your arent 51% spanish portuegese is entirely different culture and people and they dont often times even get along and besides their are 2 seperate cultures and histories to be proud of
No, Portuguese and Spaniards are the same ethnicity. We are iberian and Celt. Also what is known as Celt Iberian. I’m Spaniard and I love Portuguese. They are my brothers. Part of my family is from galicia. We are very related. We speak almost the same language. 😊
@@angyliv8040 they come from the similar origens but are ethnically different and most would agree despite similarities...I mean even so called spanish provinces are asserting their unique identities
34% spanish + 17% portuguese + 3% basque + 3% france +2% north african +2% wales+2% jewish+1% northern Italy+ 1% balkans = 65% northern Spain.
17% native.
9%+ 4%+2% + 1% = 16% african
0.39%+0.39% = 0.78% from any of your 128 ancestors..7 generation 250-300 years back
0.78%+0.78= 1.56% from any of your 64 gran-gran-grand-gran-granparents
1.56%+1.25= 3.125 from any of your 32 gran-gran-gran-granparents
3.125%+3.125% = 6.25% from any of your 16 grand-gran-granparents
6.25%+6.25%= 12.5% from your 8 grand-granparents
12.5%+12.5% = 25% from your 4 grandparents
25%+25% = 50% from each of your 2 parents
So, try to mix that..XD
for example:
12.5%+3.125% +0.78%+0.39%+0.2% = 17% Portuguese / Native
12.5%+3.125% +0.39% = 16% African
25%+6.25%+1.56%+ 0.78+0.39 = 34% spanish = 1GP+1 GGGP+ GGGGGP .. etc
I’d love to do this. I’m East/Southeast Asian though and I’ve heard it’s really inaccurate if you’re Asian. 😂
I'm bummed because I can't hear you anymore. I use to be able to hear you clearly but for some reason it seems as if your volume is turned down all the way. 😭😢😿
Idk why you’re having issues hearing me? Its so odd, because no one else is having that issue 😢😭

Siendo ciudadanos de Segunda en EUA. No hubo tampoco genocidio. Dios en serio espero que no todos los puertorriqueños Sean tan ignorantes. Hay gente que tenemos desde España.
En fin…Saludos desde España.

I would say 63 percent because the Moors were black. North and Subsaharan Africa was not divided in Moor time
