I was shocked because I am mixed white and black and mine said Pakistani and Filipino and Native American. I knew about the Native American and the French part, but not others others. and I definitely don’t understand that, so that’s why I was shocked.

@@Servant_of_Yeshua96that would be surprising but I’ve seen a lot of Americans, whose families are from South America, and they have no clue they are part white… the woke ones get upset and come up with excuses lol.. anyway that’s what I thought of when they said that, because it’s pretty obvious if you’re family is from a mixed race county you will be too 😂

My ancestry DNA results changed as well. The main change was that my Eastern European DNA somehow went from 21% to 5%! Not too happy about that, especially since Croatian is next on my list of languages to learn (I learned Spanish as an adult, and am currently learning French.) My maternal great-grandmother, who I knew quite well (she lived to 93) was half Croatian and half Slovenian (one parent born in each country,) so I'm kind of doubtful that the Ancestry update is more accurate than it was. It does still show 26% European Jewish, from my Jewish paternal grandmother, all of whose 19th c. ancestors lived in Eastern Europe or the Baltic region (Ukraine, Belorussia, and Lithuania.)

DNA percentage is also based off of your relatives that have already tested. I kept showing up with more eastern European after my mom and her brother tested. We're part Czech and Hungarian and Slovak. However, a there's also a ton of overlap in these groups with Germanic, which I show up as half of. However, my English kept dropping and southeastern European kept showing up (we're part Austro Hungarian, and the Balkans are next door) That's also because my whole dad's side tested. And they're largely colonial German and not quite as English as they thought (they're half, not all )

I'm in the 1500s and my Spain is not Cristian. I have found where my Moors ancestors were exiled for not converting and once in the canary islands after exile they converted for an opportunity to go to the new world. So depending on when your ancestors were in Spain will determine if they were Jewish Muslim or cristian. Dont forget Spain was Muslim prior to 1492 for 900 years.

@@CurlyBoyChuck ❤ what i meant was also that in ancestry it will say Spain but in reality when my ancestors were there it was not Spain yet and it was also not part of Europe. So its not "white european"
Also when Puerto Rico was under Spanish rule I believe that also contributes to it saying Spain due to documentation "supporting Spain Iberian penninsula" again not white European. Also the Jewish people that were exiled in biblical times were in Africa. Geographically speaking Israel is on the same tectonic plate as the continent of Africa. They went through Africa which mixed with our African ancestors. I am also 2% Jewish.
So you have yo look for history outside of 🇺🇸 textbooks and then follow the documentation trail you find on ancestry to determine your own ancestral history. PS if you come to a relative and there's no record from puerto rico before 1800s....that's your biggest Taino bloodline😉 im fascinated by this type of research.

Los Canarios son de origen bereber (norteafricano) mezclado con español, y llegaron en gran número a Puerto Rico. De hecho hablan con un acento muy parecido, un español de la península no distingue si está hablando con un puertorriqueño o un Canario.

The African DNA explains the curly hair I guess. Two of my grandsons have very curly hair - not quite Afro but close - and they have one South African mixed descent grandparent. The rest of their ancestry is Euro/Asian. That Afro DNA is strong!

    34% spanish + 17% portuguese + 3% basque + 3% france +2% north african +2% wales+2% jewish+1% northern Italy+ 1% balkans = 65% northern Spain.
    17% native.
    9%+ 4%+2% + 1% = 16% african
    0.39%+0.39% = 0.78% from any of your 128 ancestors..7 generation 250-300 years back
    0.78%+0.78= 1.56% from any of your 64 gran-gran-grand-gran-granparents
    1.56%+1.25= 3.125 from any of your 32 gran-gran-gran-granparents
    3.125%+3.125% = 6.25% from any of your 16 grand-gran-granparents
    6.25%+6.25%= 12.5% from your 8 grand-granparents
    12.5%+12.5% = 25% from your 4 grandparents
    25%+25% = 50% from each of your 2 parents
    So, try to mix that..XD
    for example:
    12.5%+3.125% +0.78%+0.39%+0.2% = 17% Portuguese / Native
    12.5%+3.125% +0.39% = 16% African
    25%+6.25%+1.56%+ 0.78+0.39 = 34% spanish = 1GP+1 GGGP+ GGGGGP .. etc
