Being atheist, science fan and truly skeptic person, I opened the video expecting to hear science-religion debate. From the outfit and appearance of the guy I immediately judged him as a person who will speak about gods, mystic creatures and how rocks have a soul etc. But I was quietly amazed when I found myself agreeing with everything that came out of his mouth. Apart from having expressive language and perfect debating skills, he didn't say anything that can be argued on from scientific point of view. It were just words of wisdom from a smart man. He didn't say cows are special mystic creatures and that's why we shouldn't eat them; he said they have emotions , which is scientific fact, animals do have basic emotions. He really changed my opinion about indian gurus. If that's what you guys call mysticism in India, I'm really into it.
The most evolved school of thought in Hinduism is Adwaita Philosophy (Adwaita mean non-dual). According to them, the whole universe is a manifestation of the one and the same thing. Man, animal, matter, energy anything everything you name is the manifestation of the same thing. Those who follow or at least interested in this school of thought are free not to believe until you realize it yourself. There are mainly 4 different approaches to realize this truth (or even you are free to find your own way). The 4 main methods are Karmayoga (by selfless work), Bhaktiyoga (by selfless devotion), Jnanayoga (through knowledge) and through Rajayoga (by controlling mind). Shri Sadguru has mainly chosen the last approach. If you are a skeptic and interested in eastern philosophy then "Tao of Physics" by physicist Fritjof Capra will be a good start. Then try " The complete works of Swami Vivekananda" (ateast first 2 volumes). Let me warn, you will obviously go across ideas which are not in tune with science. Because here the topic of investigation is not the materialistic world

Wrong title. This was an awesome conversation and Barkha has every right to question and differ from Sadhguru. Calling it as "Shutting her up" simply means one is not open enough to hear dissenting opinions which itself is contrary to Sadhguru's own teachings. On a different note, I think Sadhguru is creating a big trouble by trying to "revive Indian culture & nationalism." He himself has attacked this idea of national & religious identities in many of his own talks. Any kind of identity, be it national or religious, is the root cause of conflicts. Osho & Jiddu Krishnamurti were smart enough to shun these identities to their fullest end and hence were way ahead of Sadhguru in this regard.
that does not mean you have to reject the knowledge in the vedas - or the fact that this was and is a part of the hindu culture. THat is only a statement of truth. You should not Identify with it. But that does not change the fact that hindus have though about these topics for millenia and the knowledge was stated in the vedas and upanishads. Wrong title. This was an awesome conversation and Barkha has every right to question and differ from Sadhguru. Calling it as "Shutting her up" simply means one is not open enough to hear dissenting opinions which itself is contrary to Sadhguru's own teachings.
On a different note, I think Sadhguru is creating a big trouble by trying to "revive Indian culture & nationalism." He himself has attacked this idea of national & religious identities
in many of his own talks. Any kind of identity, be it national or religious, is the root cause of conflicts. Osho & Jiddu Krishnamurti were smart enough to shun these identities to their fullest end and hence were way ahead of Sadhguru in this regard.
that does not mean you have to reject the knowledge in the vedas - or the fact that this was and is a part of the hindu culture. THat is only a statement of truth.
You should not Identify with it. But that does not change the fact that hindus have though about these topics for millenia and the knowledge was stated in the vedas and upanishads.
It is almost as if you have to trash hindu culture and when you have done that enough, you have proved that one is not "identified" with it.
THat is not the correct way of "not identifying" ....
