I have to say I am one of those people who likes to chat on the phone if only because it makes me feel a little less alone sometimes… But I am getting to realize that most people AND my adult children prefer texting so I bought an iPad and that makes it more fun for me!
There are times when a phone call is more appropriate, but the one friend who drives me crazy, leaves a message, saying he wants to ask me about something. Ask me in a text!! However, I think texting has taken over person to person voices to the extreme. There are times when it's nice to hear each other's voice, instead of texting, which can feel impersonal.
You are spot on with all of your points. The one about people dropping by unannounced really hit home. Why do they do that? Hate making small talk too. So draining. Don't drink myself, so the prospect of being stuck at a party, around people who are probably having one too many is anathema to me. Happy birthday to you. You are amazing for 65.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! So very spot on! I try to get out there for get togethers but can't wait to get home! So draining for me. Glad I'm not alone and feel comfortable in my solitude! Great video...and HAPPY Birthday!🎂
I’m an introvert, I live by myself and have 2 dogs. My supervisor at work periodically asks me “so what do you doooo at home,” as if I sit around all day holed up and avoiding the world. I have things that keep me busy and I enjoy my alone time. It’s kind of annoying that people think we introverts sit at home without doing anything like we are hermits or something.
You said that you became an introvert. I don't understand that concept. I've been an introvert from my first memories at the age of 4. All I've ever wanted was and is to be left alone. I don't keep friends because most people don't have the depth of empathy and compassion to understand that I may not call or check in for weeks. I also find it humorous that many people believe that introverts are shy until I speak in a social situation. I'm an outspoken man with a deep, loud voice, and I'm far from shy despite being quiet and reserved. I feel pity for extraverts who desperately seek attention and validation. I don't get lonely and I don't understand the need for attention and validation from others. I don't answer my phone or my door. Either you text before you come or you have wasted your time. 😂
I became an introvert after going through a transformation and getting back in touch with who I really am. I no longer need validation from others to try and complete myself
I can agree 100%. I became an introvert because I stopped liking people. They are so hate-filled, bullish and think of no one else but themselves. So loving being an introvert!!❤
@maurawhelan3530 Thank you, but I have very nice friends. I'll spell it out for you. It's people in general I'm talking about, like at drs offices, grocery stores, schools, even police, you name it, it's all around. I don't need them.
Not wanting to engage a drunk person has little to nothing to do with whether you're introverted or extraverted, it's about the healthy drive for civility and coherence in our exchanges. I also happen to cherish the extra effort a phone call takes; I miss the hours-long, soulful phone conversations I had in younger days, texting always feels sterile and alienating to me.
Yes, all these! I am married to an ambivert and when he's more into his extroverted self, he'll check in to ask, "am I annoying you?" I will most often say yes and we have a good laugh. It is lovely when someone "gets" you. One of my sweetest extroverted friends is having a party Dec 20 and I told them I wouldn't miss it for the world, but I might only last 30 mins. They understand! (I'll need all weekend to be quiet.) Hope you had a lovely birthday!
Im a 66 yr old sigma male and being intervert is the only way I can discover myself genuinely against the opinion of people in society. To me an intervert is someone just being(heart) in life and is not who we are. (mind ,ego). Happy Birthday Holly 🙏💗🎈✨
Ha Ha Ha, that's me. Home body. Other people just stress me out. Love quiet routine. Going out is for others. I don't miss it. I love sharing stuff and do enjoy company on occasion.
So on point. For myself, I associate introvert with quiet. I'm basically an introvert and I'm usually one of the quieter ones in a group. But if I have something to say, I will say it especially in a work meeting. Other than that I'm happy to let the extroverts take over the conversation because I'm going to run off first chance I get. Thank you so much for this video. Much joy from listening to you and reading all of the comments. Happy Birthday!
These are all good. I have very few people in my life so I don't have to worry about a big "surprise" party or somebody dropping by. I don't find all social interactions draining, just the ones that I haven't chosen.
Great video with a spot on opinion. Myself and my wife both in our 70's and still working full time jobs. We both get enough social interaction at our jobs and our personal social circle is non existent. We like to keep to ourselves and yes when the doorbell rings and we weren't expecting anyone it annoys me, especially sales people when we have just sat down to eat or are watching TV
Hello Holly❤ Yes! I'm an Introvert 😊 I Am 61 and very much Content!. I Love my Solitude❤and Coffee! Very much! I love spending time with Jackie! (Myself). I'm am very comfortable. I am Alone but never Lonely.. I have outside Hobbies, I enjoy walking at my park which has a Lake and ducks😊 Very quiet and relaxing. I Love Meditation. And yes I can't stand A drunk!. I separated from husband 19 years ago from that problem. So I'm good enjoying life with myself!🥰 By the way, I love watching you! Its very relaxing. 😊❤ I would love to meet Someone with my same Value!. Stay blessed Holly 🙏
i love ur variety, n how comfortable ur vibe is. no wonder myself & others keep coming back! being a fellow introvert, id say that ur introvert observations r spot on! thanx, holly! 😃
Happy birthday, Holly! I go back and forth from introvert to extrovert but...being single I'm loving my own company. A relationship would be a great addition to life but not instead of. Take care!
Introvert and loving it. I click with maybe 1 in a 100 ppl. These people I can talk with for days the rest just drain me. I am a wall flower don’t drag me into the spotlight.
I agree with you, Holly …The more time I spend at home by myself by choice the better I seem to feel… I just turned down an invitation to a party last night and instead baked an amazing lemon cake. Love your holiday mugs! Happy holidays, everybody!
I have 4 introverts in my, 2 family members and 2 employees, you learn to keep your conversation to a minimum and to the point, they want quality not quantity, be safe on your drive and hope you had a great birthday with your grandson, thank you
Fruitful for further thought. If we become adverse to small talk, are we attracted to large talk? I too feel disconnected from mixing in big crowds. But if there is a common topic of interest, I become comfortable and natural in exploring a discussion.
I use to host so many parties a year. Not anymore. No, do not show up on my doorstep without first calling. I, deplore small talk. I’m absolutely positive my face gives me away when that one person you know who is non-stop chatter, makes their way to you🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ or takes over the conversation at dinner. I only do small intimate gatherings. I love one on one dinners. ✌🏼
I've been one my whole life. You hit the nail on the head with all of them. I would add an overall to that list. You briefly mentioned it in your video, "...please don't think I'm a horrible person". There is this constant drumbeat through society of two prejudices (as in pre-judge): One, introverts are grumpy/unfriendly and standoffish, and two, you must strive to be an extrovert to be truly happy in life. To me, I don't suffer fools gladly, and being alone in a crowd is true loneliness.
I do appreciate solitude but this video reminds me I’m more of an extrovert than introvert. And prefer almost anything over texting, especially with someone I care about.
There is an excellent book by Susan Cain called "Quiet - The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking" Published in 2012. If you enjoy reading, you may appreciate the book.
First off, Happy Shared Birthday!🎂 I'm an introvert and find myself in most of what you talked about. I however, am trying to open myself up more. Recently separated and suddenly don't know who I am. I reconnected with old friends who have helped me tremendously try to come out of my shell, so to speak. I'm currently on a 4 month road trip and using the time to "find myself" or redefine myself. I'm alone but opening up to people, starting conversations with strangers is tough but I am finding it rewarding. Anyway, I'm enjoying your videos, and find them very relatable.
Thank you so much! If you are on a quest to find your way back to the real you I highly suggest starting with my video on How I Changed My Life Using The Law of Attraction. It's about how I totally transformed my life a few years ago. Best of luck on your journey!
I totally agree with your comments and relate to them very well myself. I especially agree with the do not just stop over advice. I might not answer the door if you do. You are right on track with all your comments. Great! Happy Birthday.
Here are a few of my wife's comments that confirm for me she fits your introverted profile... 1. I can't stand being seated next to crowds of people. You go and enjoy the cello concert. Me and Alexa will have a quiet cuppa tea with Billie Eillish. 2. Sure go ahead, bring your friends over. Just keep them in the basement and put a wedge under the stairway door. 3.Trick or Treat Whats wrong with black garbage bags taped on the windows ? its my way of being spooky and avoiding irritating strangers. 😂
Yea! Thanks for sharing all of these wonderful reminders to make us realize we’re in our own space and don’t necessarily have to have some interaction with others to be fulfilled in life.
Forget surprise parties. I can't stand parties in general. My ex-girlfriend would drag me to what seemed like countless holiday parties. Trying to feign interest in people who you see a few times a year is agonizing. It always felt like going to church as a kid: You're so happy when the tedious ordeal is finally over.
Great video. I'm an extroverted introvert. From 50-60, I have become more introverted. I LOVE, LOVE being alone, whether walking, traveling, staying at home. The ONE thing that drives me nuts is when my extroverted friend (72) is constantly asking me to go with her to events. I keep saying I just want to stay home but she never gives up. People need to give introverts some space and let us reach out when ready. Great channel and advice.
Now Holly, you have 98 comments from people you don't really know, in 11 hrs. I wouldn't call that being alone! Careful now! My Mom threw me a surprise party once when I was 20. It was overwhelming. I picked one safe person to zero in on and cozied up to them until it was over, offending everyone else. They all left before long as they could see I was uncomfortable, and then I felt guilty.
Holly a very happy 65th birthday. I do believe I’m an introvert but being a creative sensitive man there have been times in my life where I really love the spotlight so I don’t know if I’m a true sigma male introvert but perhaps I have the Johnny Carson syndrome Being good in the spotlight but loving a lot of time alone and not craving the company of many people think introverts a special people and we really gotta guard our sacred spaces to fulfill our own dreams and actualization. I hope you get this message because my microphone typist is doing some weird things and plus I hope you had a great time in New York City. My little town OK great video keep up the good work.
IMO I’ll bet several top comedians actually have the “Johnny Carson syndrome”….they’re expected to entertain the partygoers, be the “life of the party” etc. People would be disappointed if they simply wished to be “off the clock”!
I can't agree to everything. I am still the "i would like to be asked and invited - but probably will say no" person. Of course that does not work because i live such an isolated loner life.
1) disagree 2) agree 3) agree 4) might be fun? 5) no one makes you do anything. 6) call. don't text. email's cool. 7) who cares what others think? 8) I like going out. then need to recharge.
Thank you for your comments on introverts. I'm somewhat of an introvert myself and I don't see anything wrong with living alone and the vast majority of people think you have to get married and have a family by a certain age. Marriage is fine (with another introvert) I personally don't care to have kids.
Happy birthday Holly. I too am a fellow fire sign. I was 65 in August. Please..please yourself! ❤❤ Life is very rich and free for doing just that. You’re shining that beautiful fire light! 🔥☀️🙏
You know, I get these opinions too when I've been lonely for a while, but pretty much snap out of all of them when I'm with company again, and it's only fear that stops me from getting out of my shell. I always force myself to go outside and face the world. It only takes one little chat with a stranger... and all that "logic" is ...poof...gone.
This is great advice for anyone who knows an introvert, but if said introvert is also neurodivergent (sheepishly raises hand), this advice applies tenfold. Also, Happy Birthday! (Some introverts don’t even like being told that!! lol)
Some people don’t understand us. I think we’re an acquired taste, not everyone’s cup of tea. Never did Facebook. I really don’t care what fake, strangers think of me.
Great video. Introvert here! We get a bad rap at times for sure. Statements like "Why are you so quiet"? are annoying. Or "you poor thing, spending your birthday alone". When these come up I say something like "you're a bit rude aren't you? Hope you have a wonderful 🎉🎉🎉birthday 🎂 🥳 with your grandson!
There is an excellent book by Susan Cain called "Quiet - The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking" Published in 2012. If you enjoy reading, you may appreciate the book. 📚📚📚
Happy Birthday, Holly. Hope it was a great day in NY. I'm more introverted; however, I can definitely be extroverted, too. Afterwards, I am pretty drained and glad it's over😄.
Good evening Holly, I wouldn’t consider myself to be an introvert but I also don’t have any patience when it comes to interacting with drunks. I quit drinking about 15 years ago. I also agree with you about texting except for my kids, I want to be able to hear their voices when I’m talking to them. Did you have a nice Birthday?
... most persons are somewhere in the middle of those definitions and find their comfort and balance with a mix of "being" an introvert and an extrovert... a healthy person adapts to both settings and thus an introvert should mix with others while an extrovert should discover their own thoughts and ideals while alone... to be healthy, one must force themselves out of "their comfort zones"... try it, it's good for you...
65 but still looking 35! if necessary I'll link this video to my extrovert colleagues so they will understand me better! your grandson sounds very intelligent you will have to come to an agreement about how much of your TH-cam money you give him!
You are so wonderful. I agree 💯 with you. Im exactly as you Describe. I like my quiet!!! Stay your awesome self!!! Happy 65th birthday 🎂 ❤!!! I just want you to know that your channel validates my love of having a quiet life, !!! I don't like conflict or dealing with drunks either!!!
As I understand introversion, it is "recharging batteries" alone or in the company of loved ones. Extroversion would be "recharging" in the company of others. Most of the traits/tendencies described in the content of the video are not technically introversion. How do I know? I am deeply introverted with many identical tendencies. As for your tendencies, there are several other descriptions I would use before. but not excluding, introversion. I tend to say that I love humanity but hate people. I have very little tolerance for superficial or aimless nonsense. I don't suffer fools (which would include drunks) or hypocrites gladly or well. As for parties? Nope. Congratulations, Holly; you are a normal person.
I'm an introvert, and struggle in noisy demanding social situations more so the older I get and the less energy in general that I have. I've never considered myself abnormal. K
Happy belated birthday,Holly. I had to text vs call because you prefer that and hey it's YOUR birthday. I wish I could drop by and be introverted with you. 😂 The point you made about no longer " needing" validation from other people was huge. I've spent my life as a camelian to feel accepted and validated by others. I'm now alone , a 67 year old man, and don't even know the real ME. I enjoy your videos very much. Thank you for seeing a need and trying to help others while staying true to yourself! BTW: You look very beautiful today. ( No small talk, just my opinion) 😉
Thank you so much. If you want to get more in touch with the real you please watch my video on how I changed my life using The Law of Attraction. I promise the real you is still there, you just need to get in touch with it.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HOLLY!~ Such a good posting and so true, lol~ Anyways if I may also share… I’m celebrating birthday 66 in late December myself and as you shared in a previous video which, made me laugh (the “hook” that made me subscribe)… “I’m still alive!” LOL😂🎉~ “…And many more!”💕
Wow… you are so right! When I graduated from high school and was moving to Florida my friends planned a surprise party for me …. And I was so embarrassed even though I appreciated their intentions. 🤡 I’m number 396 today…
We used to sneak out of the home to go party, Now we sneak out of the party to go home. Happy Birthday Holly.
Yes!!!
Perfect! I go one step further. I don't go to the party at all! Saves me the trouble of sneaking out! 😊
So so true! 😊
Lol, this is so true!!
It's no wonder I can't find an introvert to stay home with. They're all home avoiding people.
yes indeed and I'm one of them. love avoiding people!
Introverts unite! Separately!
🤣
Haha, yes!
yes indeed we should
forgot to say I don't need validation from anyone at this age.
Lol, YES!!
As an introvert I love speaking with people but for five minutes only
Haha same! How true
Spoken like a true introvert! Every point is spot on.
Sure is...😊
As a fellow introvert here 🙋, I 100% agree with all of this.
If you can text it, don’t call. So funny and true!
I have to say I am one of those people who likes to chat on the phone if only because it makes me feel a little less alone sometimes… But I am getting to realize that most people AND my adult children prefer texting so I bought an iPad and that makes it more fun for me!

Exactly!!
I think they think we just sit in a rocking chair and stare at the walls at while we are at home. LOL
Solitude is genuine. Something you can take to the bank.
I am an introvert, without realizing it. Until now. Thank you, Holly.
You said that you became an introvert. I don't understand that concept. I've been an introvert from my first memories at the age of 4. All I've ever wanted was and is to be left alone. Agreed. i've always been an introvert - I didn't become an introvert. I've craved solitude since i was 5.

I am a extrovert but I really enjoy my alone time and I am retired and I love it. Hallelujah !
Completely agree with ALL of them. But I particularly really hate surprise visits and being around drunk people.
Those two for me as well ! 😊
Not wanting to engage a drunk person has little to nothing to do with whether you're introverted or extraverted, it's about the healthy drive for civility and coherence in our exchanges. Lemon cake, YUM!!
Totally relate! I’ve also become more introverted as I’ve gotten older or likely accepted myself as I am.
Ask them a question, ask them to decide, invite them over, there’s so many.
Happy Birthday!
Plenty to see in the Big Apple . ...
Glad you were able to make it a special one with family.

I very rarely do Facebook anymore. Too much drama on there. This woman looks really good. I’m 54 and never leave my house unless it’s work.
You have elevated small talk to GLOBAL TALK - you have 28,000 people hanging on your every word! That presents a bit of a quandary for an introvert!
I too noticed that disconnect. “I’m an introvert!” On the other hand “WORLD, INTERACT WITH ME!”

100% spot on! Introverts unite, by ourselves at home 😊!
Lol, exactly!!
Im an introvert and agree with you on all of this Holly. Happy Birthday🎉🎉🎉

Thank you so much!
Dont like drinking or talking to a drunk...or any type of 🎉🥳 party
OMG! Totally 100% with everything on your list! I feel seen. Thank you!! 🙂
Awesome! Thank you!
Oh my God, I wasn't aware of being an introvert until you pointed this out.
Happy 🎉birthday 🎂.
I can't agree to everything. I am still the "i would like to be asked and invited - but probably will say no" person. Of course that does not work because i live such an isolated loner life.
Got one for your list. Tell an introvert "You don't have anything to do so why don't you ... fill in the blank"
Totally agree with every one of your points. Totally me, and I'm happy with it. ❤❤
Another great vid! Nothing worse than small talk! Much prefer deep and meaningful conversations.... " sometimes" lol
1) disagree
2) agree
3) agree
4) might be fun?
5) no one makes you do anything.
6) call. don't text. email's cool.
7) who cares what others think?
8) I like going out. then need to recharge.
Happy Birthday, Holly! Enjoy your day. Thanks for being in the world.
Is anyone married to an extrovert? It's a challenge sometimes.
Thank you for your comments on introverts. I'm somewhat of an introvert myself and I don't see anything wrong with living alone and the vast majority of people think you have to get married and have a family by a certain age. Marriage is fine (with another introvert) I personally don't care to have kids.
I couldn't have said it better. Thank you. Have a pleasant birthday.
Happy birthday Holly. I too am a fellow fire sign. I was 65 in August.
Please..please yourself! ❤❤
Life is very rich and free for doing just that. You’re shining that beautiful fire light!
🔥☀️🙏
Happy Birthday!! You look amazing!!!!
I relate to everything you said here. HaPpY BiRthDaY, Holly! 🎂🎊🥳🍰🍨🤸♀🫶
Happy Birthday Holly!❤. I enjoy your content and can relate as an introvert and semi retired. New subscriber
Thank you!
Not a complete introvert but can certainly relate to most of this! Think most of this naturally occurred on my spiritual journey….❤
Very good way to put it
This is great advice for anyone who knows an introvert, but if said introvert is also neurodivergent (sheepishly raises hand), this advice applies tenfold. Also, Happy Birthday! (Some introverts don’t even like being told that!! lol)
So true!
I love your channel! As an MD I have also seen the power of the law of attraction in my life and others.
Yes! Thank you!
I guess I'm an introvert 🤔? ... I agree with everything you said. 😊
Some people don’t understand us. I think we’re an acquired taste, not everyone’s cup of tea. Never did Facebook. I really don’t care what fake, strangers think of me.
I don’t think introversion defines your personality. It’s just a trait.
That coffee cup without a coaster is destabilising me 😂😂😂
Lol, I don't have a coaster that big!
So true and thank you!
There is an excellent book by Susan Cain called "Quiet - The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking" Published in 2012. If you enjoy reading, you may appreciate the book. 📚📚📚
I ❤️ this book!
@@Carol-fi6xv - thank you for letting me know!📚
Thank you so much for the recommendation!
@@BecomingMe64 - You are very welcome.
Happy Birthday, Holly. Hope it was a great day in NY. I'm more introverted; however, I can definitely be extroverted, too. Afterwards, I am pretty drained and glad it's over😄.
So true!
It was wonderful, thank you!
The title is hilarious!
Yep, the small talk can be painful.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and insights with us. I hope you had a wonderful birthday celebration weekend with your grandson in NYC.
Thank you so much!
... most persons are somewhere in the middle of those definitions and find their comfort and balance with a mix of "being" an introvert and an extrovert... a healthy person adapts to both settings and thus an introvert should mix with others while an extrovert should discover their own thoughts and ideals while alone... to be healthy, one must force themselves out of "their comfort zones"... try it, it's good for you...
65 but still looking 35! if necessary I'll link this video to my extrovert colleagues so they will understand me better! your grandson sounds very intelligent you will have to come to an agreement about how much of your TH-cam money you give him!
Your grandson will be able to boast that he has the coolest grandmother ever and that he is a TH-cam Star!
Awe, thank you!
Thank you so much!
Shouldn't the title be "How NOT to irritate an introvert"? I'm with you on people stopping by without calling,an unpleasant surprise visit.
Glad you brought up the phone thing. Please TEXT. The only people I want to talk to are my parents and my also introverted husband.
Agree on all points. Keep the videos coming.
Happy Happy Birthday!! Another wonderful video. Great points. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks for watching
… and don’t invite me to a Fancy Dress party 😂😂😂 it’s an immediate no … I would rather stick pins in my eyes 😂😂😂
Really great advice! Good stuff & Happy Birthday
ps: in ur time zone, it is ur birthday! happpppy birthday!!! 🥳 im sure it will be amazing! enjoy ur special day! ☺️
Thank you!!
Oh my. A dinner party is the worse for me. Sitting down eating with people is rather not even be with.
Me too. I wish you well.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HOLLY!~ Such a good posting and so true, lol~ Anyways if I may also share… I’m celebrating birthday 66 in late December myself and as you shared in a previous video which, made me laugh (the “hook” that made me subscribe)… “I’m still alive!” LOL😂🎉~ “…And many more!”💕
Lol, thank you and I hope you have an amazing birthday!!
Happy Birthday! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Happy Birthday Holly 🎉🎉my father shares his birthday the same day as you. He had a fabulous sense of humor.
Thank you!
Happy Birthday Holly!
Wow… you are so right! When I graduated from high school and was moving to Florida my friends planned a surprise party for me …. And I was so embarrassed even though I appreciated their intentions. 🤡 I’m number 396 today…
