In real life those massive dustbin chuckers were incredibly short ranged bunker busters which could be used in a pinch against enemy tanks. I'd limit the range of the gun in the same way as the pew pew pew shells/bullets simply disappear at range at low tiers. Along with this I would drastically increase the shell arc along with lowering the shell velocity. Thinking even more extreme than the derp gun on the Cromwell. Possibly also increase the terrain resistance to fall in line with the increased weight of the massive blade on the front. Lower the turret traverse to account for the big old drainpipe sticking out of it. The gun would still be devastating up close and personal but would be effectively useless at range. The inrease in terrain resistance along with the slow turret traverse would make it more of flankable target for fast mediums and lights.
I had 2 Cent 165 AVREs in my troop when I was serving in Germany in the 1980s. Dustbin throwers is exactly what we called them. On the range, you could see the shell slowly arcing through the air. Not very accurate, & designed of course to take out structures, not tanks. Slow rate of fire as well. Very popular with the crews though, because they were relatively clean, & the engine deck was flat & warm to sleep on.
Literally insane to me how this tank has almost no flaws. I thought there would be something to bring it down but it has medium tank mobility and gun handling, heavy tank armor, and tank destroyer damage. Literally the highest DPM tank cannot compet against the avre. Literally it has premium 240 pen with 1100 alpha and a reload around 15 seconds with perks
I dont understand where to pen it, I try to aim for the red spots in the turret and almost always bounce except for when im lucky and the lower plate under the shield seems to never be a pen aswell even if it peaks over a hill. I sometimes randomly pen it with standard ebr shell (190 pen) from the front and I have no idea how.
Me and my friend were in a T95 and OBJ704 and me and him alone fought against 6 of AVREs and we won. We both loved through the whole game. And his 704 was stock too
Keep the 240 pen round as premium and just make the standard round 85 pen like the type 5 heavy. I think that would be a good step in the right direction.
I agree that WG's proposal to make it see only T9 & 10's doesn't address the problem with the vehicle. That will make t8 better, but t9 and 10 horrible. I like your proposal of 85mm for 1100 max, and 240 for 800 max. And remove the Spaced frontal armour. I also suggest shell velocity of both HESh shells of 240-300m/s. (Similar to historical vehicle's shells). Lastly, WG need to have a clear and unambiguous disclaimer when purchasing any premium tank: The game will always be a work-in-progress, and balance changes are constantly necessary, and Premium tanks can and will be changed whenever necessary. The notion that premium tanks cant be nerfed is nonsense. Thanks for this video Petty. Love your work! :)
While I mostly don't have a problem fighting against this tank while in tier 10s, I can see some valid criticism. I personally think that the armor should stay the same but turn down the handing (base accuracy and aim time) and maybe switch around the ammo a bit. It's handling outside of those two stats are pretty bad as is. If the armor is made cosmetic then I would say that it should just flat out be removed. I am not a fan of cosmetic only part of the armor limiting its gun depression. Standard HESH Alpha: 1400 -> 1200 Penetration: 180 -> 163mm Premium HESH Ammo type: HESH -> HEAT Alpha: 1100 -> 900 Accuracy: .42 -> .48 Aim Time: 2.5s -> 3s
I am totally against the sale of tier 10 tanks, it compromises the development of the novice player and hinders the team considerably. I agree with your suggestions, but unfortunately all the improvements that the player community suggest are ignored by WG. Honestly, I don't think we'll see any changes.
He was wrong to even offer suggestions on how to nerf this or any other premium tank in the game that people have spent real money to acquire AS IS. Eclipse bitched about the same thing in one of his videos on this same tank. WOT PC CCs understand that Wargaming won't nerf a premium tank statistically once it has been sold. They used to, but not anymore, thankfully. But these console CCs don't know this. Or, maybe they do, but they just want to generate more comments in their comments section. Idiotic though those comments may be, they are good for their channels.

Someone played the Cent 7/1 and then played Warthunder, saw the AVRE on it and thought to HQ "Dude i got a great idea! Why not put the 165mm from the AVRE From Warthunder onto the Cent 7/1! That would be a great idea and it would get the same armor and better everything because reasons! and so came the FV4003 Cent AVRE at tier 10 which broke tier 10 MM better than any tank before it. Because WG wants to make a quick cash grab before they fold and go to the moon base with Serb.
If they made the gun very very derpy (like kv2 values) and the hull armour weak, it might be save a little of the tier 10 gameplay. (I made the comment before listening to the end of your video... so, yeah, I totally agree)
I got two shotted in two different matches by the ARV and I was in my JgPzE100. It’s very depressing to be in a “1946” Ww2 tank going up against a mid-cold war tank.
I think the changes to it that you propose are REASONABLE, and would make the game playable again for everybody. Which is exactly why Wargaming WON'T do it. They WILL do something stupid like preventing it from seeing Tier VIII's. They LIVE for band aid fixes that DO NOT work...
Decrease accuracy, if it has a better reload than both deathstars then reduce it as well maybe even decrease the turret rotation, reduce the spaced armor thickness to maybe 10mm or idk what it is also decreasing is the general idea by how much as long as accuracy is worse than death star that’s good and the damage of both rounds decreased with the premium doing 950

recently started playing WOT after Merc Tanks came into the game and the first thing I noticed is this thing is bonkers OP. none of my older tanks can keep up
i say limit them to 1 per team, problem solved. This way they won't have to change the vehicle itself, which would be very bad for the future of wot console. I certainly wouldn't buy any premium tank if there's a possibility that they change the stats sometime later. When it's just one of these per team, you don't have to face them every match and you won't get heshed to death in your super heavy every time. Right now, playing a heavy tank is basically nonsense. The AVRE does 500 or more damage pretty much guaranteed while you bounce of its stupid shield. This is coming from someone who's replaced both their highest damage per game (close to 10k) and the highest average damage in a vehicle (4400 at the moment with 40 games played) with the AVRE.
I doubt they will nerf a premium again because they got sued for nerfing the Armadillo. What they should do is actually test new tanks instead of just carelessly slapping them into the game. Just lazy.

100mm of pen, give it kv2 accuracy but better aim time. Give it a slower turret traverse speed. Make the scoop not count as spaced armor. Keeps dpm, keeps decent pen, keeps mobility, keeps camo and can still go hull down reliably
Ever since AVRE entered the game, it has been completely destroying matchmaking. Broken armor, high speed, rotating turret + huge alpha, good maneuverability. I hope your video hits the mark and they nerf this crap...
Thank you for this video, it is very well thought out, especially the comment about limiting the matchmaking as a solution. There is no joy in playing Tier 8 games anymore for fear of being one-shot by any one of the 3-4 AVRE's on the other team. I love your suggestions, th eonly one i would add would be to make the turret a little more penable as well.
Try this first, make the he/hesh rounds super expensive to use. So, if you play this tank and do okay with it you'll get dinged 167k silver in doing so. A mastery game with 9k damage may make you 35k ... or something like that. Everyone has one ... just make it really expensive to run so people only run it from time to time or only after they've played their prem tanks and earned some silver. Currently it's too cheap to run, everyone got one because it, what, only took 6k gold to get. I've mentioned it before, the Taran has it's own problems as outlined in the video ... but at least it's more rare to see one because of it's much higher cost of entry. The Taran isn't putting people off WoT as much as the AVRE is. I was playing a tier 8 med Draugen and did everything right, sneaking up on people, using range to punish ... I was running scared one game because my team melted and I was scouting ... all of a suddent an AVRE blapped me from behind when I was briefly spotted and one-shotted me. I can't really imagine what a regular potato player must feel when one-shotted. At some point people just say "F this" and move onto a different game.
With the silver earnings in CW, WW2 silver cost doesn’t have any value to many players anymore. You could make the ammo 100,000 a round and I’d just go play CW for a game or two to make the lost money back. The only players that would care about the cost are the ones that refuse to play CW (I only play CW when I need silver or there’s a special silver earn OP).
The Taran killed the game for me. The Alpha, the accuracy, and the camo. It makes playing lights and fast mediums pointless. The RNG seems to favor them a lot too. I've absorbed Deathstars and Waffentrager E100s with the LTTB, but not Tarans. I have mostly stopped playing because of them.
GG, it is truly lamentable after the A'dillo debacle that WG thought it okay to introduce both the AVRE and Wiesel....... From my perspective a sad reflection of both Dev's and Testers!!!!!!!! Even about a year later, the ARVE still has an overwhelming fear factor to it. If you compare the AVRE to a later season reward Tank the Ruthless. The balance difference is still massive. While the Ruthless has the 183mm gun of the FV4005, but the Ruthless has the derp gun shell archs and poor gun handling. The Ruthless has a good turret with good turret armor, but it has the hull of a tier 8 heavy tank that can be penned by tier 8 tanks and above, and the top speed of the tank itself is fairly slow. Unlike the AVRE, the Ruthless pays the Price for the massive gun, while all the AVRE has to pay is having 1 degree of gun depression, which is the second worst in the game, but its got nothing on the Bär as it has 0 degrees of depression and yet its 305mm gun does not perform as well as the AVREs 165mm because of the Hesh alone.
Reduce damage potential and weaken armor should help.. and limit numbers per team.. like era 3.. it's stupid with 7 thumpers and Wiesel's running around.. absolute chaotic stupidity.. and I have both tanks lol.. just my opinion
What's crazy is wargaming keeps doing their balancing updates periodically to tiers an lines but continues to release money grab tanks and messing up all the balances they previously made. I don't own the tank, crossed my mind to grab it but I never did. I simply dropped down tiers to avoid it unfortunately. So no input from me but your changes sound good
This season has been simultaneously the best and the worst in a long time, the best in terms of ultimate season pass value with 2 top tier tanks and the worst when those tanks are gamebreaking(avre) and borderline op(thumper) and don't forget the wiesel tow being incredibly annoying to fight against and hunt down. In terms of balance I would make the gun similar to the type 5 heavy and slow down the tank while making the lower plate completely exposed to make it good in positions like ridgelines but make it difficult to reposition and maybe lower the turret rotation speed so tanks can flank and throw his aim off
That 1 degree of gun depression is what saved you in that game we were in the other week 😄the one with you and Randy Duck. He was in a Foch and you were in the French Futur thing you totally used that 1degree of gun depression against me to not enable to aim bang on GG Agree with what nerfs you have suggested especially the spaced armour on the front.
Id set the DMG and PEN for the high alpha HESH to 1200hp and 100pen. Set the higher pen Round to 850DMG and make it a HEAT, so it cant overmatch and u can bounce the one ore other hit from it. And id also make the shovel thing cosmetic only, so it cant be that braindead aggressive anymore.. If they want to keep the shovel, id set the mobility in the direction like on the Sharpshooter (that thing in my opinion needs a buff to its mobility stats) and tame down its camo and viewrange..
If Wargaming nerfs this tank and does nothing to the FV's, then it's just unfair to the community. If they adjust this tank, then they will have to adjust every OP tank. Leave it as it is and players have to adjust and learn how to play. AVRE also has weak points and gets destroyed. Nowadays grinding a tank line to tier X without boosters is just bonkers. With the amount of analphabetic people in the game. It makes me prefer the premium tanks.
I think one thing I'd adjust that you said was the spaced armor. I'd make it so just the main bulldozer blade was spaced armor but the bit on top as well as all the bits connecting the blade to the hull are just cosmetic. That way it doesn't really protect the lower plate at all unless youre shooting from above but if thats the case you could just shoot over the blade and hit the upper plate or the top of the turret. I can accept not penning the upper plate of a tank straight on to me but when my kranvagn gets two whole clips into the lower plate only to pen a grand total of 0 shots thats when I'm starting to consider playing a different game
Totally agree with this. The armor is what makes this tank broken. When you can't pen the bottom plate reliably head on, it makes the tank so hard to deal with, and almost impossible if you have a low-pen gun like any tier 8 non-td. The turret is hard to pen with tier 10 premium rounds because it can move relatively quickly and has odd angles. It's almost impossible as a tier 8. With a tank this mobile, there needs to be a relatively large/easily pen-able weak spot, and that just doesn't exist right now. When you think of tier 10's with frontal armor this good, the mobility is nowhere near as good. Making the bottom plate as easy to pen as a Centurion 7/1 would be the first big step in bringing this tank into a reasonable state. The other change which I still think would be necessary would be just as Petty360 described with the gun: Normal HE: 85-100 Pen & 1200 damage - still a lot of damage if it doesn't pen and satisfying if it does. HESH: 240 pen & 800-900 damage - that way it still does damage when it doesn't pen but it is in the 200-300 range rather than the 4-500 range. Making this round AP would be fine too but I think that would be an extreme nerf and would make the tank played a lot less. I wouldn't hate to see that, but I am trying to be fair and not nerf the tank to oblivion like my heart wants to. (I hate that thing so much.) An accuracy nerf would be fine too, but I don't feel like it's as necessary as these other 2 nerfs.
@@mrbears26 honestly an ap premium round could be a buff. Realistically speaking it would have some actual good pen and ~850 damage definitely slaps. Thats the one redeeming quality on the Bär, the gun gets a pretty nice ap round. Otherwise yeah, those gun changes sound pretty good. I definitely wouldn't want it to get nerfed into the ground because I have one and its not really fair to make a tank shit after so many people have bought one but it could definitely use some adjustment
Best thing to do with this is to just put it into cold war and ballance it for cold war as its not a ww2 tank or any tank along those lines , wargaming are getting Into the habit of added busted tanks that would be fine for cold war but putting them in ww2 , like the taren for example
Giving it the same stats as the Conway's 5.5 inch gun, with slightly buffed pen (5-10 mm) and reload (0.5 s) would probably sort it. Making the dozer blade a module (takes up to 700 alpha and is then cosmetic; cannot be repaired after two 105/120 mm hits) would also help.
It seems every ultimate edition tank is slightly overpowered if used correctly. Almost if they want you to buy the ultimate edition instead of the standard
Posted 8 months ago. This tank is still breaking the game. 3 of them on a flank still DOMINATE that flank. The reload is still WAY too fast. The armor is still WAY too good. The concealment is still WAY too crazy. The "don't have to aim" is still BS. Sick of it. I have to completely change how I play a given game if they have more than 1 AVRE, even if I'm playing the Kranvagn or 60tp. At this point, they should just change how hesh works. It should only calculate damage in a narrow cone in front of it. If it hits armor that is effectively higher than its max pen roll, it should only do a small amount of damage. It should also be much weaker against angles. I am tired of 0 skill tanks.

Personally I wouldn't buy this tank or the terran, I feel they do to much damage to the game, I here people moaning about how ww2 is broken and unbalanced on one hand and on the other hand they buy stupid unbalanced tanks like this. If we buy them war gaming will sell them , in the long run it's us who ruin the game with what we buy.

Getting rid of the armour is definitely needed and maybe give it a prem heat round with 650 alpha and put the standard hesh to around 100 mm pen but giving it prem mm really does nothing just like you said
🛑🛑 I like the “ decorative armor idea”. 👍 Even a Super Heavy has trouble penning the AVRE frontally. If the armor would nerfed, the ARVE, just. couldn’t push into any tank it wants to, without repercussions. 👍💯
Here’s my idea with it: Accuracy must be nerfed, it’s stupid good for a shorty gun like that. 0.5 minimum. Mobility down to 30kph, and hp/ton should be lower by about 2 or 3. Also, standard HEAH pen down to 120 with 1100 damage, premium with 240 pen at 950 alpha. Aim time can stay the same, it’ll be very derpy anyways. And it will make it balanced on the tiers including tier 8s, without removing it form regular +/-2 matchmaking.
All Wargaming really needs to do is give everyone my RNG when playing this thing, and they'll disappear from the matchmaking within a week. Rounds leave the gun at a 20° angle, making me miss tanks that are only 20-30 meters away. Never pens (hit a Bulldog smack in the upper plate yesterday and only did 470 damage). Only does around 200-300 damage to weak points when I do manage to hit them. Constantly gets penned frontally. I'm only averaging around 2,000-2,500 per game while firing 8-10 rounds. I hate playing the AVRE just as much as I hate playing against them.
Will they change something that people have paid for? It might make it hard to sell tanks in the future......do they test tanks before they release them 😂😅
Saw avre mentioned on your recent E50 vid, so had to look into it... Think I'll put off coming back to console for a while as I have no interest in gettin one, or facing them lol. Shame WG decided to break the game so badly, was once my favourite version of wot. Legitimate shame when even WWII mode is reduced to memes and lols... Ah well war thunder for console It is for now lol
5 month an no change… not good. It‘s still a pain to play against this tank, specially if you play a lot of T8. I think they should nerf the hesh rounds to a max of 120 pen and increase the aim time / reduce accuracy - and maybe give it a AP round. I would make the front weaker - the shovel can be spaced armor but maybe only a small part.
I return from the dead! Not even sure if petty recalls me, anyhow to tha actual comment. This vehicle needs to be NERFed. The armour is way to good for what it is and the gun literally requires no braincells to operate as you need to hit anywhere and does 500-600 damage. And if said unfortunate tank has not enough armour it does a stupid ammount of damage. I honnestly don't know what they were expecting... Genuinely makes me stop playing my type 4 heavy at times.
Remove the front shovel lower it’s damaged up it’s reload to 40 Seconds make its accuracy trash and make it low roll for 250 easy fix or take the shovel off the front Nerf gun

Every single one of my tier 10 heavies get s*** on by this tank. It is not fair that it can penetrate my toughest armour without even needing time to zero in. This tank is the bane of my existence I am tired of seeing it in every game. So game breaking
Just drop the Pen on both ammo's and damage, But then I do not have much of a problem with the tank as I play TD most of the time IE: the Taran just to unwind after days works.
It would be fine if it had no armor. The 215b 183 is hull lock with ok armor. The 4005 has no armor. I have seen the are bounce jagE100 rounds. It is painfully overpowered and does too much damage on non pens. It has 240 prem pen which is about 60 too high. It is terrible for the game. Nerf pen by 60 and armor by 50% or nerf gun damage and accuracy and camo or nerf armor and camo and make it have HE like type 5. Or nerf reload and pen.
Its toxic plz remove. Nah seriously, indeed make the ''all bouncing shovel'' on the front cosmetic and reduce the pen and camo factor. This shovel and small gun bounces more and does more dmg than the armor and gun of my type 5 and Maus. (and most other heavies and super heavies) That does not seem correct.
the problem is the players...i've watched AVRE drivers NOT counter other AVREs and instead go the other way on the battle field. 😡😡 its like light tanks who run away from enemy lights and don't intercept them. I've all but stopped playing T10, even with my own AVRE because of the way this thing has broken battles..the only 8s i'm playing are those with PMM...all my favorite 10s are just sitting sad....good thing is, i'm spending more time in cold war now....even with weeezles running rampant, i just chase them with my 'Dillo 😈
I see these being played by some absolute cretins, autoaiming and having zero map awareness etc. The tank has broken top tier games because it requires zero skill to play it and it doesn't require much to have a decent damage game in it. With so many in the lobby, it's making the game stale and campy. I'm just typing exactly what you're saying about nerfing the reload, accuracy and armour on the front.

Are people still complaing about Pz V/IV after this was released? I am only playing 6 to 8 because of this, for a while. At tier 8 I only play fast tanks with good camo, like lights and fast mediums. I have it, it's disgusting how easily you can do 5k damage. Poor 8's, I feel pitty when I hit them for all their HP and ruin their day. Problem is, wg won't nerf it because people spent gold on it. They are just faking it, waiting for the season to end and for the people to stop playing it, as it happened with the taran and other op tanks. The problem is, with old palyers like me, at tier 6 is also bad for the game, new players trying to learn won't stand a chance against fully equiped good premiums with a 10 skill crew. They are just sitting ducks... I feel sorry for them also.

I think where it meets t9-10 is a good thing other than the type 5 heavy any tank that can do 1000+ damage at t9-10 and the taran shouldn’t meet any t8 as just getting hit by one makes players just throw the tank away give up and go to the next game If anything I’d boost its concealment higher so they can’t hide at the back camping It’s more a skill level and play style like with the majority tanks The better players always ruin tanks like these for players who play this for fun have a laugh with friends and don’t care of the competitive side of it
Omg. What else can Wargaming do but perhaps make it so that it will not see tier 8s? They may not even be able to do that without pissing people off who bought it "as is." I don't know why console CCs refuse to get that Wargaming won't nerf premium tanks that people shelled out real money for. They used to do this all the time, but players in Europe brought (the European version of) a class action suit against Wargaming, thus ceasing the practice. This happened many years ago to Wargaming PC. We should, instead of bitching, be thankful that those gamers did that. Otherwise, Wargaming would still be fucking players over by changing the Cadillac tank that they bought and magically turning it into a shit box Chevrolet overnight in your garage with no monetary compensation. i love this tank so much im grinding for 2 marks right now. it would be my first with two marks, im currently at 78%. its a pain to get more % for the mark considering im getting 4k dmg plus each game and its hardly moving lol. all you need to defeat the centurion avre is to stay at range dont exspose too much because of its slow shell velocity and make sure to hit the under plat or copula, and wait for the side most times. making the tank not meet t8's will be amazing for the t8's allowing them to stand a chance, hopefully they do that.

I dont understand where to pen it, I try to aim for the red spots in the turret and almost always bounce except for when im lucky and the lower plate under the shield seems to never be a pen aswell even if it peaks over a hill. I sometimes randomly pen it with standard ebr shell (190 pen) from the front and I have no idea how.
Me and my friend were in a T95 and OBJ704 and me and him alone fought against 6 of AVREs and we won. We both loved through the whole game. And his 704 was stock too

Keep the 240 pen round as premium and just make the standard round 85 pen like the type 5 heavy. I think that would be a good step in the right direction.

I agree that WG's proposal to make it see only T9 & 10's doesn't address the problem with the vehicle.

I like your proposal of 85mm for 1100 max, and 240 for 800 max. And remove the Spaced frontal armour. I also suggest shell velocity of both HESh shells of 240-300m/s. (Similar to historical vehicle's shells).
Lastly, WG need to have a clear and unambiguous disclaimer when purchasing any premium tank: The game will always be a work-in-progress, and balance changes are constantly necessary, and Premium tanks can and will be changed whenever necessary. The notion that premium tanks cant be nerfed is nonsense.

While I mostly don't have a problem fighting against this tank while in tier 10s, I can see some valid criticism. I personally think that the armor should stay the same but turn down the handing (base accuracy and aim time) and maybe switch around the ammo a bit. It's handling outside of those two stats are pretty bad as is. If the armor is made cosmetic then I would say that it should just flat out be removed. I am not a fan of cosmetic only part of the armor limiting its gun depression.

I am totally against the sale of tier 10 tanks, it compromises the development of the novice player and hinders the team considerably. I agree with your suggestions, but unfortunately all the improvements that the player community suggest are ignored by WG. Honestly, I don't think we'll see any changes.
He was wrong to even offer suggestions on how to nerf this or any other premium tank in the game that people have spent real money to acquire AS IS.
Eclipse bitched about the same thing in one of his videos on this same tank. WOT PC CCs understand that Wargaming won't nerf a premium tank statistically once it has been sold. They used to, but not anymore, thankfully. But these console CCs don't know this. Or, maybe they do, but they just want to generate more comments in their comments section. Someone played the Cent 7/1 and then played Warthunder, saw the AVRE on it and thought to HQ "Dude i got a great idea! Why not put the 165mm from the AVRE From Warthunder onto the Cent 7/1! That would be a great idea and it would get the same armor and better everything because reasons! and so came the FV4003 Cent AVRE at tier 10 which broke tier 10 MM better than any tank before it. Because WG wants to make a quick cash grab before they fold and go to the moon base with Serb.
If they made the gun very very derpy (like kv2 values) and the hull armour weak, it might be save a little of the tier 10 gameplay.

I think the changes to it that you propose are REASONABLE, and would make the game playable again for everybody. Which is exactly why Wargaming WON'T do it. They WILL do something stupid like preventing it from seeing Tier VIII's. They LIVE for band aid fixes that DO NOT work...
Decrease accuracy, if it has a better reload than both deathstars then reduce it as well maybe even decrease the turret rotation, reduce the spaced armor thickness to maybe 10mm or idk what it is also decreasing is the general idea by how much as long as accuracy is worse than death star that’s good and the damage of both rounds decreased with the premium doing 950

i say limit them to 1 per team, problem solved. This way they won't have to change the vehicle itself, which would be very bad for the future of wot console. I certainly wouldn't buy any premium tank if there's a possibility that they change the stats sometime later. When it's just one of these per team, you don't have to face them every match and you won't get heshed to death in your super heavy every time. Right now, playing a heavy tank is basically nonsense. The AVRE does 500 or more damage pretty much guaranteed while you bounce of its stupid shield.
This is coming from someone who's replaced both their highest damage per game (close to 10k) and the highest average damage in a vehicle (4400 at the moment with 40 games played) with the AVRE.
I doubt they will nerf a premium again because they got sued for nerfing the Armadillo. What they should do is actually test new tanks instead of just carelessly slapping them into the game. Just lazy.

100mm of pen, give it kv2 accuracy but better aim time. Give it a slower turret traverse speed. Make the scoop not count as spaced armor. Keeps dpm, keeps decent pen, keeps mobility, keeps camo and can still go hull down reliably
Ever since AVRE entered the game, it has been completely destroying matchmaking. Broken armor, high speed, rotating turret + huge alpha, good maneuverability. I hope your video hits the mark and they nerf this crap...
Thank you for this video, it is very well thought out, especially the comment about limiting the matchmaking as a solution. There is no joy in playing Tier 8 games anymore for fear of being one-shot by any one of the 3-4 AVRE's on the other team. I love your suggestions, th eonly one i would add would be to make the turret a little more penable as well.
I just got one yesterday from a war chest and wow. There's no reason it should have any armor and the community would benefit from a 10 km/h debuff
Try this first, make the he/hesh rounds super expensive to use. So, if you play this tank and do okay with it you'll get dinged 167k silver in doing so. A mastery game with 9k damage may make you 35k ... or something like that.
Everyone has one ... just make it really expensive to run so people only run it from time to time or only after they've played their prem tanks and earned some silver. Currently it's too cheap to run, everyone got one because it, what, only took 6k gold to get.
I've mentioned it before, the Taran has it's own problems as outlined in the video ... but at least it's more rare to see one because of it's much higher cost of entry.
The Taran isn't putting people off WoT as much as the AVRE is.
I was playing a tier 8 med Draugen and did everything right, sneaking up on people, using range to punish ... I was running scared one game because my team melted and I was scouting ... all of a suddent an AVRE blapped me from behind when I was briefly spotted and one-shotted me.
I can't really imagine what a regular potato player must feel when one-shotted. At some point people just say "F this" and move onto a different game.
With the silver earnings in CW, WW2 silver cost doesn’t have any value to many players anymore. You could make the ammo 100,000 a round and I’d just go play CW for a game or two to make the lost money back. The only players that would care about the cost are the ones that refuse to play CW (I only play CW when I need silver or there’s a special silver earn OP).

The Taran killed the game for me. The Alpha, the accuracy, and the camo. It makes playing lights and fast mediums pointless. The RNG seems to favor them a lot too. I've absorbed Deathstars and Waffentrager E100s with the LTTB, but not Tarans. I have mostly stopped playing because of them.
Taran has mobility too !!!!! cc's can boost their stats, wallet warriors just keep pouring real money into WG, so they are loving this.

Even about a year later, the ARVE still has an overwhelming fear factor to it. If you compare the AVRE to a later season reward Tank the Ruthless. The balance difference is still massive.
While the Ruthless has the 183mm gun of the FV4005, but the Ruthless has the derp gun shell archs and poor gun handling. The Ruthless has a good turret with good turret armor, but it has the hull of a tier 8 heavy tank that can be penned by tier 8 tanks and above, and the top speed of the tank itself is fairly slow. Unlike the AVRE, the Ruthless pays the Price for the massive gun, while all the AVRE has to pay is having 1 degree of gun depression, which is the second worst in the game, but its got nothing on the Bär as it has 0 degrees of depression and yet its 305mm gun does not perform as well as the AVREs 165mm because of the Hesh alone.
Reduce damage potential and weaken armor should help.. and limit numbers per team.. like era 3.. it's stupid with 7 thumpers and Wiesel's running around.. absolute chaotic stupidity.. and I have both tanks lol.. just my opinion

What's crazy is wargaming keeps doing their balancing updates periodically to tiers an lines but continues to release money grab tanks and messing up all the balances they previously made. I don't own the tank, crossed my mind to grab it but I never did. I simply dropped down tiers to avoid it unfortunately. So no input from me but your changes sound good

This season has been simultaneously the best and the worst in a long time, the best in terms of ultimate season pass value with 2 top tier tanks and the worst when those tanks are gamebreaking(avre) and borderline op(thumper) and don't forget the wiesel tow being incredibly annoying to fight against and hunt down.
In terms of balance I would make the gun similar to the type 5 heavy and slow down the tank while making the lower plate completely exposed to make it good in positions like ridgelines but make it difficult to reposition and maybe lower the turret rotation speed so tanks can flank and throw his aim off

Agree with what nerfs you have suggested especially the spaced armour on the front.
Id set the DMG and PEN for the high alpha HESH to 1200hp and 100pen.
Set the higher pen Round to 850DMG and make it a HEAT, so it cant overmatch and u can bounce the one ore other hit from it.
And id also make the shovel thing cosmetic only, so it cant be that braindead aggressive anymore..
If they want to keep the shovel, id set the mobility in the direction like on the Sharpshooter (that thing in my opinion needs a buff to its mobility stats) and tame down its camo and viewrange..
If Wargaming nerfs this tank and does nothing to the FV's, then it's just unfair to the community. If they adjust this tank, then they will have to adjust every OP tank.
Leave it as it is and players have to adjust and learn how to play. AVRE also has weak points and gets destroyed.
Nowadays grinding a tank line to tier X without boosters is just bonkers. With the amount of analphabetic people in the game. It makes me prefer the premium tanks.

I think one thing I'd adjust that you said was the spaced armor. I'd make it so just the main bulldozer blade was spaced armor but the bit on top as well as all the bits connecting the blade to the hull are just cosmetic. That way it doesn't really protect the lower plate at all unless youre shooting from above but if thats the case you could just shoot over the blade and hit the upper plate or the top of the turret. I can accept not penning the upper plate of a tank straight on to me but when my kranvagn gets two whole clips into the lower plate only to pen a grand total of 0 shots thats when I'm starting to consider playing a different game
Totally agree with this. The armor is what makes this tank broken. When you can't pen the bottom plate reliably head on, it makes the tank so hard to deal with, and almost impossible if you have a low-pen gun like any tier 8 non-td. The turret is hard to pen with tier 10 premium rounds because it can move relatively quickly and has odd angles. It's almost impossible as a tier 8. With a tank this mobile, there needs to be a relatively large/easily pen-able weak spot, and that just doesn't exist right now. When you think of tier 10's with frontal armor this good, the mobility is nowhere near as good. Making the bottom plate as easy to pen as a Centurion 7/1 would be the first big step in bringing this tank into a reasonable state.
The other change which I still think would be necessary would be just as Petty360 described with the gun:
Normal HE: 85-100 Pen & 1200 damage - still a lot of damage if it doesn't pen and satisfying if it does.
HESH: 240 pen & 800-900 damage - that way it still does damage when it doesn't pen but it is in the 200-300 range rather than the 4-500 range. Making this round AP would be fine too but I think that would be an extreme nerf and would make the tank played a lot less. I wouldn't hate to see that, but I am trying to be fair and not nerf the tank to oblivion like my heart wants to. (I hate that thing so much.)
An accuracy nerf would be fine too, but I don't feel like it's as necessary as these other 2 nerfs.
@@mrbears26 honestly an ap premium round could be a buff. Realistically speaking it would have some actual good pen and ~850 damage definitely slaps. Thats the one redeeming quality on the Bär, the gun gets a pretty nice ap round. Otherwise yeah, those gun changes sound pretty good. I definitely wouldn't want it to get nerfed into the ground because I have one and its not really fair to make a tank shit after so many people have bought one but it could definitely use some adjustment
Best thing to do with this is to just put it into cold war and ballance it for cold war as its not a ww2 tank or any tank along those lines , wargaming are getting Into the habit of added busted tanks that would be fine for cold war but putting them in ww2 , like the taren for example
Giving it the same stats as the Conway's 5.5 inch gun, with slightly buffed pen (5-10 mm) and reload (0.5 s) would probably sort it. Making the dozer blade a module (takes up to 700 alpha and is then cosmetic; cannot be repaired after two 105/120 mm hits) would also help.
It seems every ultimate edition tank is slightly overpowered if used correctly. Almost if they want you to buy the ultimate edition instead of the standard
Posted 8 months ago. This tank is still breaking the game. 3 of them on a flank still DOMINATE that flank. The reload is still WAY too fast. The armor is still WAY too good. The concealment is still WAY too crazy. The "don't have to aim" is still BS. Sick of it. I have to completely change how I play a given game if they have more than 1 AVRE, even if I'm playing the Kranvagn or 60tp. At this point, they should just change how hesh works. It should only calculate damage in a narrow cone in front of it. If it hits armor that is effectively higher than its max pen roll, it should only do a small amount of damage. It should also be much weaker against angles. I am tired of 0 skill tanks.

Here’s my idea with it:
Accuracy must be nerfed, it’s stupid good for a shorty gun like that. 0.5 minimum.
Mobility down to 30kph, and hp/ton should be lower by about 2 or 3.
Also, standard HEAH pen down to 120 with 1100 damage, premium with 240 pen at 950 alpha. Aim time can stay the same, it’ll be very derpy anyways. And it will make it balanced on the tiers including tier 8s, without removing it form regular +/-2 matchmaking.
All Wargaming really needs to do is give everyone my RNG when playing this thing, and they'll disappear from the matchmaking within a week.
Rounds leave the gun at a 20° angle, making me miss tanks that are only 20-30 meters away. Never pens (hit a Bulldog smack in the upper plate yesterday and only did 470 damage). Only does around 200-300 damage to weak points when I do manage to hit them. Constantly gets penned frontally. I'm only averaging around 2,000-2,500 per game while firing 8-10 rounds.
I hate playing the AVRE just as much as I hate playing against them.
It should be moved to CW Era 2 or 3

5 month an no change… not good. It‘s still a pain to play against this tank, specially if you play a lot of T8. I think they should nerf the hesh rounds to a max of 120 pen and increase the aim time / reduce accuracy - and maybe give it a AP round. I would make the front weaker - the shovel can be spaced armor but maybe only a small part.
Limit them to 2 per team in a game. Dont allow 3 man platoons of them. Nerf the frontal armour and mobility

This vehicle needs to be NERFed. The armour is way to good for what it is and the gun literally requires no braincells to operate as you need to hit anywhere and does 500-600 damage. And if said unfortunate tank has not enough armour it does a stupid ammount of damage. I honnestly don't know what they were expecting... Genuinely makes me stop playing my type 4 heavy at times.

It would be fine if it had no armor. The 215b 183 is hull lock with ok armor. The 4005 has no armor. I have seen the are bounce jagE100 rounds. It is painfully overpowered and does too much damage on non pens. It has 240 prem pen which is about 60 too high. It is terrible for the game.

I see these being played by some absolute cretins, autoaiming and having zero map awareness etc. The tank has broken top tier games because it requires zero skill to play it and it doesn't require much to have a decent damage game in it. With so many in the lobby, it's making the game stale and campy. I'm just typing exactly what you're saying about nerfing the reload, accuracy and armour on the front.

Are people still complaing about Pz V/IV after this was released? I am only playing 6 to 8 because of this, for a while. At tier 8 I only play fast tanks with good camo, like lights and fast mediums. I have it, it's disgusting how easily you can do 5k damage. Poor 8's, I feel pitty when I hit them for all their HP and ruin their day. Problem is, wg won't nerf it because people spent gold on it. They are just faking it, waiting for the season to end and for the people to stop playing it, as it happened with the taran and other op tanks. The problem is, with old palyers like me, at tier 6 is also bad for the game, new players trying to learn won't stand a chance against fully equiped good premiums with a 10 skill crew. They are just sitting ducks... I feel sorry for them also.

I think where it meets t9-10 is a good thing other than the type 5 heavy any tank that can do 1000+ damage at t9-10 and the taran shouldn’t meet any t8 as just getting hit by one makes players just throw the tank away give up and go to the next game
If anything I’d boost its concealment higher so they can’t hide at the back camping
It’s more a skill level and play style like with the majority tanks
The better players always ruin tanks like these for players who play this for fun have a laugh with friends and don’t care of the competitive side of it
No problem playing against this tank the Taran I get killed by this more because can't find it camouflage stupid
The weasel and fv4005 are worse I believe . the weasel can't be hit iv bounced 3 shots one game off the back of while using a thumper

I'd slso nerf the speed and mobility. It can't do the damage if it struggles to keep up.

Omg. What else can Wargaming do but perhaps make it so that it will not see tier 8s? They may not even be able to do that without pissing people off who bought it "as is."
I don't know why console CCs refuse to get that Wargaming won't nerf premium tanks that people shelled out real money for.
They used to do this all the time, but players in Europe brought (the European version of) a class action suit against Wargaming, thus ceasing the practice. This happened many years ago to Wargaming PC. We should, instead of bitching, be thankful that those gamers did that. Otherwise, Wargaming would still be fucking players over by changing the Cadillac tank that they bought and magically turning it into a shit box Chevrolet overnight in your garage with no monetary compensation.
They will not and they better not fuck with any statistical values of this or any other premium tank that people bought.
i love this tank so much im grinding for 2 marks right now. it would be my first with two marks, im currently at 78%. its a pain to get more % for the mark considering im getting 4k dmg plus each game and its hardly moving lol. all you need to defeat the centurion avre is to stay at range dont exspose too much because of its slow shell velocity and make sure to hit the under plat or copula, and wait for the side most times. making the tank not meet t8's will be amazing for the t8's allowing them to stand a chance, hopefully they do that.
