The full-size aviation and automotive community has concluded that crimping is the more reliable form of connection versus soldering. This is due to the potential for soldered connections breaking due to vibrations work hardening the solder joints and thus making them brittle. This is not a problem when you can inspect the connections during every use for RC but it is something to consider.
@toolbaggers @RCexplained assuming good clamping force I would expect little difference between resistances. One thing to consider is the smaller size of rc wiring vs. automotive. Thinner manterial for crimps on small wires could be subject to lossening over time.
In my experience a high quality crimp connection is more flexible and less prone to breaking. Solder joints have a tendency to work harden the wire around the connector.
If Zeee printed "12.0 C" on these packs (yes, that's ten times less than the C rating on the packs now), they would be truthful. But I suppose that would only work if all other Lipo brands were honest too - yeah, if only... But anyway Ryan, thanks for the information! 👍
None really. It's more about which batteries perform the best for the dollar and CNHL off the top of my head does very well. I'll have to make a video on this for next month.
Im running x2 in my Losi dbxle v1 stock and these batteries work alight they don't get hot at all, but i do notice they don't last as long as i would like. Also the ones im using say the are 50c 5000mah
I bought two brand new Venom 3s 5000 batteries and after cycling them 5 times I finally put them in my Revo. I got one from throttle run before low voltage cutoff kicked in! One! I’ve tried several more times sense and get the same response every time. They’re fine at half throttle.
Sounds like crimped connectors are a much faster/cheaper option. Are they weaker or worse than soldered connectors? I appreciate the information, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to utilize it.
I have 2 120c hoovo 4s batteries. I've had for 1 year. I definitely could notice a difference from my LECTRON PRO 50 c battery. It cost $80. I got 2 hoovo 120c for $90.
@RCexplained can U review and test the youme power lipo's please they're also budget but hear they perform well, please I want to get some 5200mah they claim they're 80c
c ratings on any brand batteries are pure fiction, as you said the best actual true c rating you will get from the best brands of lipo available are in the max 35c - 40c ! They are generally pretty expensive batteries as well, over the years we have seen c ratings printed on the battery labels climb to unbelievable numbers. In practice we only see quite small increases in performances over batteries where the true claimed ratings more more realistic ( before manufacturers started lying about c ratings ).
Yes I've learned from experience you pretty much get what you pay for on batteries. I've seen em all go bad but for consistent race performance just get good ones😊
👍🤗🌅Thanks for this testings!!! 🎉 I'm also wonder to see test of "Youme Power" lipos. They are budget compare to HBR(for example), and it feels even when I charge them from storage state. All my HBR's lipo shows almost true capacity, but "youme" 3S 4500MAH has the same amount of charged capacity from storage state (3.8v/cell) as my 3S 3000mah HBR😅
Ok. Youme is up next with a few requests. I have them on order. From what you describe, I would expect they could perform similar to the Zeee packs. We shall see.
I had some 3s zee's back in the day and didnt like them. I recently bought a zee 6s 6000 and it works really well in my Kraton. The run time is insane, I get bored before I hit LVC lol. I bought it on amazon and its a zee 22.2 100c 6000mah, Id sure love to see you review it
PLEASE test the gnb 5000 6s 50c. They are suspiciously low in weight, being about 100 grams lighter than the CNHL 5000mah. Also can you do actual capacity tests at like 30amps instead of at 105 amps as well?
I've used various brands and all seem the same. It's like 1 or 2 manufacturers make the cells and the distributors just slap their connectors and label on them? Whatever is best priced on Ebay is what I get.
I just ran my big 9500mah cnhl 4s and 6S packs on my limitless. They are not doing well. On my xlx2 with a TP4070 motor they get pulled down from 33.7V all the way to 16V😮. Current draw is 580Amp. That is a massive voltage drop and show that the quality of the cell chemistry is not good at all. Are they better than say a gens ace. Yes. But they are not even close to the premium speed run batteries like Onyx and others in that class.
@RCexplained I was really surprised aswell. If You want I can send You logs from my speedruns and the setups that yield these. It's good additional info to have.
@RCexplained better luck meaning build quality.over time. No wires breaking off or puffing with Zee. I'm new to the whole speed run thing , just bought a Limitless to build over the winter .
No offense, but you seem to be spending a lot of time and energy proving that cheap batteries are cheap for a reason.... I have a handful of Zee batts, they work great in the cars I let my kids run at 50% throttle.
Because there’s a ton of people online telling people to use the zeee batteries. They really aren’t that cheap when they’re not on sale. On Amazon right now 2 10k mah 4s batteries are 194 bucks. SMC batteries have 10200mah 4s batteries would be $205 for two of them. If people recommend zeee and people buy them over the SMC then that’s pretty shitty. If someone is looking for performance from their batteries then they just got ripped off. I have two 10kmah zeee batteries i got off eBay for $60 a piece, i use them in my xmaxx for when im hitting big jumps so i dont blow up my better batteries. They work but dont run near as long or as hard as other batteries similarly priced, the white cnhl batteries are way better IME.
@@itsamk18-ish Your right, I am surprised with the number of positive reviews for the Zee's , my experience with them has been they routinely have the shortest run times but..... in terms of cycles I get more use before the IR goes way up or the cells become unbalanced. I group the Zees with the Ovonic, Tattu, Hoovo, Goldbat, Socokin, etc.... in that they are cheaply/fairly priced and you get what you pay for. The reviews, including the extensive testing in this YT video, are based on such a small sample size that I tend to be slightly skeptical....if the Zees are on a good sale, I'll still buy them. They work great for some applications (not speed runs), but if the reviewers were seeing them puff and fail catastrophically more than others then that would get my attention.
I test what the subscribers request. Unfortunately, when the poor batteries are shown to be poor 2 videos ago, I was asked that it can't be true, test again. Again, I do what is requested to help to community see the truth.
Any real world test bashing/speedruns? Not even the vids of the battery's hooked up to the equipment when testing...Just spreadsheet screenshots. That's not scientific or transparent 🚫
Or, you could just buy better batteries that are safer, where you don’t have to solder on your own new connectors and such to make them better, or more usable. 🤷🏻♂️
@ I know that, that’s my point. Why modify battery connectors when they already come with them? If said batteries don’t have connectors that work with your RC vehicles, why not buy ones that do? Just seems like a pointless modification is my point. Regardless, happy bashing.
@@RCexplained I have no idea. I don’t use off brand budget batteries from Amazon. 🤷🏻♂️ I know the brands I use are more expensive (traxxas&spektrum) but I know what I’m getting is much safer when used and handled properly. I buy the batteries and charging systems designed for my RC cars. I don’t cut off the battery connectors from my cars and trucks like a lot of other people do to make different batteries work. So I honestly don’t know. But if what you’re doing works for you and is safe, that’s all that matters.
Im new to Lipo. But i'll say so far, I have 6 different (2-6200mah 80C, 2-8000mah 100C and 2-Premi 9000mah 120c) Zee batteries and they all last very long and seem to have good punch in my Outcast 4S and 8S and rip the tire off my Felony 6S. For bashing they're a win. Competition and racing...eh maybe not but who knows. Great batteries IMO
Impressed! Very good testing 🤙
Thank you!

Interesting, I think the goal for most would be least resistive connection. I wonder what that would look like between the 2.
@toolbaggers @RCexplained assuming good clamping force I would expect little difference between resistances. One thing to consider is the smaller size of rc wiring vs. automotive. Thinner manterial for crimps on small wires could be subject to lossening over time.

Zeee and ovonic for trail trucks and crawlers ROCK.
I tried gensace and all 3 puffed and ran hot within 4th cycle.
I will no longer overpay for lipos.
Interesting. Just curious why you'd rather pay so much for these Zeee packs when the turnigys are significantly cheaper
Another good video
I appreciate that

Exactly, but unfortunately we will buy the packs with the biggest numbers and this is why we are in this mess of c ratings.
Thanks for the comment!
So are these batteries responsible for any harm or damage to the motor and ESC??
Great line of videos by the way
Cheers mate
I'll be making another video on this topic.
What batteries have the most accurate c ratings in your testing? I usually use SMC
None really. It's more about which batteries perform the best for the dollar and CNHL off the top of my head does very well. I'll have to make a video on this for next month.
I use 2 , 5200 / 80c in a Fireteam.
They've been good to me .
Whoops. Those are 6000mah , the 5200 is for my Granite .
Im running x2 in my Losi dbxle v1 stock and these batteries work alight they don't get hot at all, but i do notice they don't last as long as i would like. Also the ones im using say the are 50c 5000mah

Could be an easier cheaper option. I have no data to suggest this is worse than soldering.
Could you do some tests on the Hoovo brand? The 2s 5200mah 80c is what I’m running in a 2wd Slash.
I have 100c Hoovo batteries and they are just as bad as Zeee
I have 2 120c hoovo 4s batteries. I've had for 1 year. I definitely could notice a difference from my LECTRON PRO 50 c battery. It cost $80. I got 2 hoovo 120c for $90.
Should test two identical packs in series and parallel to check how C rating is affected.
I can show in the video how C rating is unchanged.
@RCexplained can U review and test the youme power lipo's please they're also budget but hear they perform well, please I want to get some 5200mah they claim they're 80c
Will do. Thanks for the comment
I used turnigy and gens and the turnigy batteries are still running great where the gens died a long time ago. What do you think of turnigy?
Turnigy have been my most used brand for EDF jets pulling over 100A. Some models are good others are not so good.

@gillian9178 absolutely.
Try a graphene with high-c rating, difference is immediately noticeable in an EDF.

Possible. My data does show the cells are different from brand to brand. I can't say much about the manufacture at this point.
I’m even more confused now after watching this… too much information to understand… so should we buy them or not?
No
Everyone bashes on Traxxas battery's but there the closest to the clames c rating out of all the battery's I've tested. Still over priced in my option
Agree 👍

It seems that when buying lipos, you get what you pay for.
i drobe fl8ghf yoz have an average amp and a oeak (when pushing up high in the sky) but that peak is maybe a second or two max time
I ve had much better luck with Zee over Gensace
I haven't tested gensace but the data speaking to performance on the Zeees shows its the worst battery I've tested to date.

I get mine from ebay
I didn't know they are sold on ebay
So TLDR, Zee sucks. Is there any cheap Amazon it eBay brands that aren’t bad?
I've tested on CNHL Lipo model that performs well.
