    This is my go to on any search and destroy mission. I pair it with the shield generator backpack. With both of them, I become an unstoppable bug hole/bot fabricator destroying machine.

      no, you pair it with the ammo backpack.

      The only correct way to run the grenade launcher is with the supply pack.

      It's tempting to take more defense, but you will have to realize that you run out of grenades very quickly. You HAVE to pair it with supply pack.

    I find the grenade launcher great against chargers and tanks. The charger's weak point is underneath it and from the rear so as long as you can get the launcher to explode there it dies in 2-4 hits.
    Tanks also take damage from it when you hit the turret from basically every angle and with the rate of fire can make quick work of them.
    Pop on an ammo pack and you're almost a one man army.

    Tbh, for almost every benefit that the GL offers, the autocannon does it just as good if not better without some of the GL's drawbacks such as the low ammo count. Having said that, I know there are some situations where the GL is the better choice. I'd be interested in seeing a side-by-side comparison of the strengths and weaknesses of those two support weapons

      with the auto cannon, you carry a backpack for extra ammo. I've found that if you pair the grenade launcher with a supply pack, you can essentially throw 110 grenades downrange before you run out of reloads. You essentially become a mobile cluster bomb delivery system lol

      @@deha8128 I hadn't thought to do that, interesting. That puts it at nearly double what the autocannon plus backpack lets you carry (10 in the gun + 50 in the backpack). I think that's definitely worth trying out against the bugs. One of my biggest complaints with the autocannon is that it's less effective against the bugs because they can prevent you from reloading if too many are chasing you

      Grenade Launcher can splash just about everything. Hulk? Detonate grenade under their feet, 3-5 shots will destroy their back. Same goes for Tanks, Cannon Towers etc. Then again Autocannon can do all the same things, except it needs to usually hit the weak spots instead of just splashing onto them. Except of course the faceplate for the hulk.
      It's more useful against Automatons imo since they don't get in your face as much. If you're good at movement it can be magic against the bugs too. If you're not taking up the role of anti armor and you want to be a horde killing machine(can also damage medium to heavy armor pretty consistently) the Grenade Launcher is an S-tier weapon imo.
      This is aside from the fact that you can also close bug holes and destroy factories with it. Also Mortar and Anti-air turrets all take very few shots when shooting it in the weak spot.
      Only benefit the autocannon has imo is more accuracy, range and it takes up 1 less stratagem slot, since you kind of need the ammo back pack to efficiently have the Grenade Launcher available at any time.@@sammcmurchie8136

      @@DK199811 Yeah this is exactly the sort of comparison that I'd like to see. Thanks for the tip about shooting the hulk's feet to splash them, that's some vital info for me for making the GL work against the bots (and I prefer fighting the bots).
      I will say though that the autocannon will also destroy factories and bug holes with one shot and at a much greater range, and it takes 3 shots to the weak spot for the laser cannon turrets, tanks, and hulks (2 shots to a hulk's face if you have good aim). I think its 4 shots for the AA guns and mortars though for some reason. It also cleans up the other big bots like the armored shield and rocket bots with 1 shot if you hit their face or 3 if you aim for the body. It kills the scout walkers in just one shot from any angle too.

      It's the backpack difference and you reload the GL on the move. The AC's reload is actually not terrible as long as you don't completely run out of ammo you can get your 5 stack back fast but you do have to stop.

    I've been rocking it since the first day I was able to get it and I can always feel the huge difference between when there's one GL in the team and when there's none. You just get swarmed a lot faster with out it, being able to wipe chaff quickly is unvaluable.

    I never even considered this weapon and then I saw a guy using it with an ammo backpack (which apparently is down on the D-pad for console, and the '5' key on pc). Looked like he was cheesing everything and I had to use it

    I absolutly love running the GL against bots with the ammo pack, I just get rid of all the problems infront of me. I do need to get good with it against bugs as i've blown myself up too many times with how liberally i dispense my shots

      Discovering this thing against the bots and running it with the ammo pack has been an absolute game changer for me. The ability to simply obliterate walkers and all sorts of infantry, be it heavy or light from the safety of cover really makes the launcher shine against the tincans.
      And with the ammo pack you honestly don´t even run out of ammo, even if you spam your shots a little.

    Sees dropship: Yay! I get to use my GL to wipe them all out! As for terminids: I saw a video recently where you can kill Chargers easily with a GL by aiming UNDER them so that it damages their weak spot.

    Advice when fighting the heavy bots? Such as Hulks and the larger Walkers please

      For the GL-21 specifically, it's best to leave heavy bot units for other support weapons to deal with. If you have an opportunity to hit their weak points, go for it, but otherwise, the GL-21 is better for other targets. Scout Striders are fairly vulnerable to the grenade launcher though, simply aim for the ground near their feet, or the edges of the armor defending the driver.
      For more general tactics regarding all stratagems and weapons, I'll eventually make a dedicated video for both factions.
