I would never ask the question what would you do if you were me! Firing somebody is not a discussion nor is it a negotiation So by asking that question you open yourself up for too much dialogue
I've learned it's best to just state hey this isn't working out. We appreciate the work you've done while you were here and I wish you the best of luck in the future. Asking "what would you do if you were me?" Feels a little condescending. It's better to not leave room for discussion. When you ask those questions it can make the situation worse by leaving room for them to argue that they did there best or perhaps argue you weren't the best as a upper management or boss. I believe keeping it short and simple is best.
Either you are a psychopath without any empathy whatsoever, or you are just extremely ill-mannered and cannot get into your head that firing someone should be done with minimal harm. Or you are just trying to be "edgy" or something.
Alexa, I really appreciate this. Firing has always been the most uncomfortable part of my job. It’s nice to get a reminder on how it doesn’t have to be a devastating affair
Don’t pretend that cutting off someone’s income or firing someone is good for them, even if they are unhappy. It’s presumptuous and attempts to minimize the pain and havoc loosing a job can cause. Be realistic, firing someone is done for the benefit of the company, period. Managers need to accept they might be the last step on the way to homelessness. Great method but no one really cares about being heard when they are being shuttled our the door. The best thing you can do is offer a good or neutral reference IN WRITING as you let them go. This makes it easier for them to move on. This is totally a business decision, not a chance to benefit the employee.
lisa Murphy we terminated someone recently for allowing a customer to steal our services. Had he not been terminated, other employees would have seen the incident as an action that had no repercussions... I have two questions for you: Are you in management? Have you ever been terminated?
I watched China steel almost all our industry with politicians and other agencies looking the other way. When they steal your product the process goes with it.
Fire me, disown me, neglect me or simply release me. But please don't punish me, torture me or force me to do something that I don't want to do, like getting married or being committed in an unrequited relationship. Please just set me free and let's just forgive and forget. I need my freedom back for me to start my whole life all over again. #YousefSAlrajhi
thank u for breaking ur back for a over a year at us foods but your speed was at a 99.4% and we need 99.7 oh yeah thanks for coming in on halloween while many others called out sick, ur dired atarting november bye
The "What would you do if you were me?" approach is excellent, and too often forgot. It forces the employee to empathize and introspect at the same time.
This is nonsense. If it's really about forcing them to find a job where they'll be happier, give them a time limit to find something else. Don't just fire them and force them to be unemployed while they find that better job. If they're fired, they won't have that income coming in until they find the next job. It's also much harder to find a new job when you're fired and not working. Yes, there are cases where employees aren't happy and would be better off elsewhere. Don't fire those employees. Give them a reasonable amount of time to find that better job while they're still working for you.
This would be ideal but you're not going to get the best effort from someone who knows now that their company no longer thinks they're valuable or worth keeping.
My dear, all HR such as you need to be fired for hiring incapable candidate for the job, at the first place. HR job is to select right candidate for the position. Statistically talking there is 300 resumes per one hiring position, and 3-6 interviews conducted, some time with panel interviews. How can you miss not to hire a good candidate? That means that HR are way too dumb (as they usually are ) and they need to be fired immediately if they can’t select right candidate for the position. BTW your unmeaningful explanation in video is totally illogical. If an employee is performing poorly that does not mean that he is not happy as you put it. The right action would be simply talk to the employee, and try reasonably to resolve the issues. In most of the cases salary is the factor issue. Please delete this video because it make no sense in what intention is....

Thank you for this, I agree it’s condescending to ask what would you do if you were me 9x out of 10 they would admit I would fire myself.
I just watched 12 videos like these in a row and this was the worst of all. Great job!
I was forced out of my job by stress. I, thus, decided to become my own boss. Taking charge of my life gives me the opportunity to enjoy the word.
Joe Hudson I did the same thing. I was fired though. I became my own boss 6 months after i have been let go. I never looked back
Thank you, this was helpful in my preparation for my fire tomorrow.
Sorry, you have to do that, it's never fun. Glad the video helped!
sith tab76 who you fire give me the tea I’m nosey af
"You're fired."
Done.

@@Peter_1986 no. Women (not men) care about the ex employee more than the business... *Shakes head*
Alexa, I really appreciate this. Firing has always been the most uncomfortable part of my job. It’s nice to get a reminder on how it doesn’t have to be a devastating affair
Also be sure to spit on the ex employee as they're being perp walked out the building

I have two questions for you:
Are you in management?
Have you ever been terminated?
That's excellent advice.
I watched China steel almost all our industry with politicians and other agencies looking the other way. When they steal your product the process goes with it.
This is the nicest way I’ve ever heard this described.
I like the example of asking them to put them in my shoes. I'll use that.

For real. By 0:08 I was thinking about updating my resume
Ask yourself "How would I like to be fired?". And fire people like you would want to be fired.
Corporate Sociopaths are good at firing employees.
They shouldn't be allowed to have employees. Whoever hires them should be fired.
great video, Alexa Fischer is truly amazing!
Alexa Fischer is Hot she can hire me any day
She’s so hot
This woman can't wait to make sure someone can't feed there child. She's salivating at the idea of firing people. 😁

The only time you don’t have to listen to these rules is if you’re Donald Trump.
I think I love you
Be like Vince and say yourre fired
But sometime the employee are just dumb.
Helpful, thank you.
HAHA......where's Jack Welch?
This isnt gonna be as funn as I always thought.
The "What would you do if you were me?" approach is excellent, and too often forgot. It forces the employee to empathize and introspect at the same time.
somashekar sundaresan and vivek ram
I really hope this is fake. If not.. The world has gone crazy. This is like a sarcastic movie scene how to be mean.
Thanks for watching! ;)
You don't tell stories lol
That was not the intent! ;)
The most ridiculous angering video I have ever seen.
Bullshit you got to get to the point
Yeah... no this is a really bad overly HR directed way to fire.
I want to get fired by a pretty lady like this

Something about this feels off.
