      BYD is rolling out to countries close to China first and South America second from what I can see. I see you tube videos on what looks like ethnically Arab countries displaying the Chinese price. I also see reviews from South American countries like Peru, Chile, Bolivia…. where people are doing reviews.

    My family bought a BYD Qing DMI for around 22,000 USD last summer, at its price point it is a near-perfect vehicle for commuting/daliy driving, BYD is really putting up some serious competition with foreign car brands. (TLDR most Chinese would consider the Chinese own developed car has more value for the price, while the Foreign brand car has better quality. It is pretty much the fact until very recent years.)

Not sure how the time lines will really be and costs are a big unknown as the small market in Australia and NZ along with expensive modifications including to convert from LHD to RHD will also add to the overall costs as well as shipping, GST, port taxes dealer markup, I guess next Monday we will have a better idea...

    Hello Wheels boy. Your assumption about this vehicle being released to English speaking countries is correct. Here in Australia 🇦🇺 it will be rebadged as the BYD ATTO 3 . Release date was February 19. Delivery is expected to be in July 2022.
    The distributor claims to have a right hand drive assembly production line exclusively for the Australian market.
    The various State governments have reduced stamp duty, registration fees etc, as incentives for buyers. The Federal government has none.
    It will be a supply and demand driven marketplace. With new other new models promised for 2023.
    I have placed my order for the extended range(Superior)model . About $49000 Australian dollars drive away price.

    regarding the range, this is my real life experience with byd blade battery: multiply the nedc range by 0.85 in the summer and 0.7 in the winter, you get pretty close to REAL range. of course, it may vary with individual's location. i would guess the colder the winter the shorter the range.

    The amazing thing BYD did in there cars is that their infotainment system is an Android OS! Making the screen an open world for the owner. So anyone can download the favorite app without restrictions! Not like other car brands have their own OS that no one can benefit from it! Even the Android Auto is so bad. So adding Android OS to the infotainment screen is genius! & will be even better if they update it to the HarmonyOS!

      @@fannyalbi9040 the real reason sales were down (despite another fan claiming production was up, which it may have been) is because Tesla does not ship consistently, and these are wholesale deliveries. December was a blowout month, filling a big backlog, of which some sales may not have reached customers till January. You'd think if there was a huge waiting list, they'd be shipping every unit right away, but no, they'll be kept onsite for a month or two and delivered in bulk. The waiting list and record sales months are thus largely artificial. No one else does this. Tesla itself takes care not to report monthly or regional sales, because the volatile deliveries would mislead investors and the SEC would pounce (Chrysler and BMW have been charged for this before). Tesla fans however are happy to do it for them.

This particular car is due for launch in Australia in a few days or so. And I thought it looked okay until you showed the interior... and then I wanted to put my money down for one right away! It is both spectacular, and in most places, I think, practical. Those door-opening handles just made me think "why doesn't everyone do that?" The only downside to the clip was that you didn't fold the rear seats flat, nor could I quite make out the load-space dimensions, but these are minor criticisms in the face of how good the rest of the review was.

    Good first effort for international markets. I would expect BYD to tone down the Chinese influences for a more global appeal in the next model.
    Regardless, BYD will sell well; they're an established company instead of one that started a few years ago with no reputation behind it. Berkshire Hathaway's investment in the company back in 2008 certainly helps their case, and this decade looks to be an economic lost cause, so cheap cars will be in demand.

    BYD aren't making an entry into the UK market anytime soon - that's for sure - I've tracked this particular model for best part of 12 months now - it's exactly the kind of EV I'm looking for - BYD don't even sell their private car EVs in the UK yet and they don't have a UK distributor agreement (for private vehicle sales that is). The only BYD private car EVs to make it to the UK so far have been a tiny (you could count them on your fingers!) batch being operated by UBER, presumably for testing purposes, to gather data about running costs etc.
    If you're in the market for a fleet of electric buses or maybe even a large batch of vehicles like the one featured here, for commercial use (taxis?), maybe BYD would like to speak to you but unless you fit that customer criteria, potential UK buyers can "Whistle Dixie" right now!
    I'm getting frustrated because only when companies like BYD enter the UK market properly will existing legacy manufacturers reduce their ridiculous (cartel agreement sustained?) price points for EVs - the AUDI E-tron Q4 (a direct competitor to the Yuan Plus) is more or less twice the estimated cost of the model featured here - best part of £50,000 when it should be more like £25000!
    Come on BYD - get your act together - appoint an official UK distributor so potential customers can arrange a test drive and really see some competition in the market place!

    • @curtisducati
      @curtisducati 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keep that crap out the UK , are you serious ? Chinese tech in an EV ? Will last 6 weeks max then broken down and no spares or dealership to help , you will be left with a new EV broken down on your drive and worthless , even if it worked would you buy a second hand Chinese car ? OMG

    • @peterdavidson3268
      @peterdavidson3268 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@curtisducati Thanks (or no thanks) for your ill-considered rant. Perhaps better to let the market determine success/failure of Chinese origin EVs - if they're really as bad as you make out, BYD will fail - but somehow I don't think so - not heard any reports of poor quality emanating from Norway where BYD are already firmly established?

    It’s a delight to be able to follow Chinese EV progress in USA. The problems with EV in USA are 1. They are all too powerful, relatively, 2. Therefore, range is unacceptable, 3. To be green, do we need super fast EVs? There are subcompact EVs by France in Europe I don’t see them in USA.

    Top spec they say is $24,000 USD which equals $33,000 Australian dollars. Top spec trim in Australia is $49,000, the warranty is also less than you get in China being 7 years or 160,000 kms for the battery, they are limiting the charging capabilities of the battery here too. V2L is apparently ok’d but don’t know about V2H which I am interested in. The Australian distributor is being well paid for their part in this transaction, they would have to be getting a discount from China from retail one would think.
