    I have one more question for you..
    I have a groovebox synth (Synthstrom Deluge), which has drums, bass, leads, pads, etc... all in one box.
    It also has reverb, panning, etc... which I've used in my song.
    My question is: Would I be able to record the entire song onto 1 or 2 tracks on the DP-008ex and still have it be stereo when I master it? Like instead of trying to time each part on the deluge to separate tracks, could I mix it on the deluge and then record it to the Tascam?
    If I went Y cable stereo out of the Deluge to input A or A/B on the DP-008ex, and recorded the song on 1or 2 tracks, would that work?

      Hello camlong89! If you take the stereo output of the Synthstrom Deluge and go into two different channels on the DP-008EX you'll be able to preserve that stereo mix that you created on the Groovebox. You'll need to pan the channels on the DP hard left and right to get the stereo effect, but yes - you can mix it all on the synth and then record it to DP-008EX.

    If I choose to use the microphones that come with the recorder is it the same steps as above in the video ?

      Hello Ralph! The process is similar, but not exactly the same. Here's a link to a video showing how to start recording with the internal mics:

    Does this mean that the Tascam unit functions as a pre-amp when you put in a regular (dynamic) microphone? Or should I use an external pre-amp?

    • @TASCAMUSA
      @TASCAMUSA  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello! The DP-008EX has built-in preamps. You could use external preamps by plugging them into the TRS inputs and switching the unit to line level if you wish, but it isn't necessary.

      Can you do the same thing (use external preamps) with a Tascam DP-24SD? For example, connect mics to a vintage Tascam MX-80, and then connect the MX-80 to the two inputs of the DP-0008EX, or DP-24SD? I also have a vintage Tascam M-1516 mixer, I was thinking to connect mics and various effects and devices to the M-1516, and then connect the in & outs of the M-1516 to the DP-24SD so they could interface with each other- thoughts?

    I have a question for anyone who might be able to answer.....
    I recorded my track into the 008ex. Used good quality cables, and set the level knobs slightly past halfway. I mixed down the track and then mastered it. When I sample the auto master (natural sound and maximum), there is a prominent, audible buzzing sound. When I toggle the auto mastering off, i don't hear the buzz, but when it's on, the buzz is there. I double checked my cables and volume levels, but it's not clipping or anything. Anyone

      I don't know if you've since found a solution, but I had also been dealing with this and even considered finding a new recording solution. It seems that low end in the inputs (synths, bass guitar especially) cause this in the mastering stage. I found it helpful to 1) be more cautious about volume levels at the input and cut back a few db from seemingly safe levels 2) put a compressor on the inputs at the recording stage so that audio sources have less chance of overloading in volume

    I have virtual instruments on my iPad apps I'd like to record simultaneously with audio from my Yamaha Reface CP. I suppose the connection to the iPad would be the 3.5mm headphone jack, right? It's either that or record from an audio interface that is connected to the the iPad, right?

      I don’t know, but I do recommend that instead of recording from the iPad’s audio out jack (older I pads) use one if the little white headphone adapter that Apple makes. (This also goes for listening to music from your headphones). The adapters are inexpensive, and they actually are a secret DAC (digital to audio converter). This will greatly increase the quality 9f your line-out recording to your device of choice.

    Can I connect my mustang micro amp via the USB and record on this recorder?

    • @TASCAMUSA
      @TASCAMUSA  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello John! The USB port on the DP-008EX doesn't act as an audio input, so you'll need to connect via XLR or TRS input.

    How do voice overs sound using an external mic with this recording device?

    • @TASCAMUSA
      @TASCAMUSA  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! The DP-008EX is equipped with quality preamps. That combined with a host of on-board effects to take your production from an audio take to a finished, mastered product should give you an amazing sounding voice over.

    Has anyone recorded synths with this unit? Would I set it to mic/line or guitar for the input?
    Also, say i record 8 songs for an album. How do i make sure they're all mixed and mastered at the same level?
    Like when i want to make an album, how do i check to see if all the songs are the same and not have some that are louder than others?
    I'm very new to recording, so i appreciate any help.

    • @TASCAMUSA
      @TASCAMUSA  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello camlong89! Typically, a synth output will be line level output.
      When mixing your tracks, just keep an eye on the master meter and aim for all of your songs to be around the same level. Afterwards, you can apply the DP-008EX's mastering effects to polish the songs - the normalize function will level out the production to a specified volume, so all of your songs should turn out the same in the end.
