I don't think we know what "One in a million" means

It means you could try that shot a million times and never make any one of them, not even close.

@arthurdavis1065 NOT exactly. For the pros the math is more like one in 15,000

@@RichardCInman My point exactly. The stat line for the pros is far different than for the average golfer.
And the thing most people don't realize is how much more difficult the course setup is for the pros. Not only are they teeing off from the blacks, but they are facing some of the toughest flag positions that the PGA Tour officials could devise (positions that are NEVER offered under general play because they would lead to tying up the course).

I would not call any of these one in 1 million.

Not one of these shots were a 1,000,000:1 shot. Some weren't even a 100:1 shot.

Yes I was wondering why there were so many one in a million shots😁

Obviously neither one of you play golf.

@@arthurdavis1065 And you've never watched professional golfers in action. The average touring pro's skill level is ridiculous.

Not even that shot from the tee to the hole, nothing but net?

@@joehughes5177 There were 29 holes-in-one recorded on the 2023 PGA Tour. With 46 regular tour events (average field size 156 players, average cut 70 players), that's about 20,800 rounds. Plus 3 playoffs (70/50/30 field size, no-cut) adds another 600 rounds. Multiply that by approximately six par-3s per round, gives you a total of 128,400 par-3 tee shots. That equates to an overall hole-in-one ratio of approximately 4400:1.
Granted, not all of these were slam dunks. But I think they happen more often than you think.
