Jeff Lynn produced the album and Jeff and George did the backup vocals. There was a different drummer on the recording, but they brought in Ringo Starr for the video (half of a Beatles reunion). That slide guitar solo was George.

His songs were played at parties and remind me of certain people and places, but then I see Silence of The Lambs and that’s a movie you guys should do on your other channel, but hearing American Girl in Silence of The Lambs was creepy!

Tom was from Gainesville, FL. Home of the Florida Gators. When he passed away a few years ago, UF started playing this song between the 3rd & 4th quarters of Football games as a tribute. All the fans sing along. Search TH-cam for last Saturday’s game against Utah. It’s amazing and quite emotional to watch 90,000 people sing his song. Too bad we didn’t start this before he passed.

In this video there is 3 fifths of the Traveling Wilbury's in Tom, Jeff Lynn, and George Harrison, half of the Beatles with George, and Ringo Starr, and 2 fifths of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, with Tom and Mike Campbell. This song came from one of the greatest albums ever called Full Moon Fever. It was Tom's first solo album, and he made it with mainly Jeff Lynn and Mike Campbell. The rest of the heartbreakers did play on the album, most of them had a huge problem with how Jeff Lynn produced music, he would track each part separately instead of the whole band recording at once. It was so bad that Tom was being told that the other members of the Heartbreakers were saying he was making a bad record and that he had lost his way. Tom even told a story about how their bassist Howie Epstein was sitting outside the studio waiting to come in and lay down the bass track on a song looking annoyed. When Tom came out and apologized that it was taking so long and they were getting to the bass soon. Howie replied it's not the wait, I just don't like the song. Tom said you don't like the song, well if you don't like it, you don't have to play on it. Howie said right, ok and left. The song was Free Fallin'.

Stevie was a huge fan of his. When first going solo, she told her management, (the same management as his), that she wanted to be like the female Tom Petty. After meeting, they were close friends all the way up to when he passed in 2016. Also I can't remember what team but we were playing away and Tom had just passed. The fans for the other team started singing this song. Goosebumps.

Tom's catalogue is such an amazing deep dive with great collaborations throughout his career... Mike Campbell was usually nearby and the Wilbury's of course during much of this era with Jeff Lynne and George... Tom had such great respect for musical history and loved to try new things with other musicians. RIP Tom..

Love, love, LOVE Tom Petty! Appreciate him even more the older I've gotten and the more time has passed. One of my great regrets is never seeing him in concert. It would be next to impossible to pick a favorite Petty song, but this one is right on up there, along with "Don't Do Me Like That." Also I never hear anyone mention their song called "Change of Heart." No one seems to remember it anymore, but I think it's an underappreciated song and just as good as any of their other hits.

Tom Petty fans are fans for life! There's a version of his song Breakdown that is live.... I have it on my ipod but can't find the version on utube.... It's live... And the audience literally takes over singing it for him because they were so loud... He simply let them... They did in pretty good harmony 7/10 of the whole song... When there was a little musical break from the lyrics he said wow.. You guys are gonna put me out of a job... It was such a touching tribute to the interaction between an audience and artist. I've only seen that kind of appreciation one other time in person at a Niel Young concert.... He just finished heart of gold and the audience gave him the loudest standing ovation for about ten minutes! He tried to address us a few times and couldn't cause of the continued ovation... By the time it quieted down enough he was in tears and visibly moved.... Tom petty and Niel Young fans are like that.... Die hard loyal! 😉

Omg, Tom is my first musical love!!! 🤩🥰 Yep, that was George, and Jeff, and Ringo!!! Full Moon Fever is one of my all-time favorite albums!!! Love is a Lobg Road, Running Down a Dream, and Alright For Now are amazing songs from that album. Here Comes My Girl is probably my all-time fave TP song, but American Girl, Refugee, Breakdown (gotta do the live version!) Don't Come Around Here No More, The Best of Everything, the live version of Needles and Pins with Stevie, and my favorite Stevie collab, Inside are amazing. But I think the Tom song that probably means the most to me personally, is the one I couldn't get out of my head for the 3 days I spent in the hospital before my middle child was born, The Waiting 😊
It's not Tom Petty's voice that necessarily grabs me, but the passion behind his vocals. He had such an amazing talent as a musician and songwriter, but the passion he infused his recordings with is what sets him apart. This is one of my all-time favorite songs. One of Johnny Cash's, too; he covered it late in his career. I was so sad when Tom Petty passed, because it was the passing of an absolute legend. There are so few musicians who can do what he did.
You mention Stevie: not a reaction tune, but Stevie lent her beautiful backup on Tom's "INSIDER", predating their Stop Dragging cut. The song comes from a place of hurt, but so worth listening to; one of my favorites from the "Hard Promises" album.

Tom Petty was raised in Gainesville Florida and even worked there while trying to get his music career going. Since his passing, at every home football game we sing I Won't Back Down at the end of the 3rd quarter. When the shole stadium erupts and starts singing, it's an incredible experience

In this video there is 3 fifths of the Traveling Wilbury's in Tom, Jeff Lynn, and George Harrison, half of the Beatles with George, and Ringo Starr, and 2 fifths of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, with Tom and Mike Campbell.
This song came from one of the greatest albums ever called Full Moon Fever. It was Tom's first solo album, and he made it with mainly Jeff Lynn and Mike Campbell. The rest of the heartbreakers did play on the album, most of them had a huge problem with how Jeff Lynn produced music, he would track each part separately instead of the whole band recording at once. It was so bad that Tom was being told that the other members of the Heartbreakers were saying he was making a bad record and that he had lost his way.
Tom even told a story about how their bassist Howie Epstein was sitting outside the studio waiting to come in and lay down the bass track on a song looking annoyed. When Tom came out and apologized that it was taking so long and they were getting to the bass soon. Howie replied it's not the wait, I just don't like the song. Tom said you don't like the song, well if you don't like it, you don't have to play on it. Howie said right, ok and left. The song was Free Fallin'.

"I Won't Back Down" was released in April 1989 as the lead single from his first solo album, Full Moon Fever. The song was co-written by Petty and Jeff Lynne, also his writing partner for the album At the session George Harrison sang and played the guitar. The video, directed by David Leland, features Ringo Starr on drums, with George Harrison and Jeff Lynne on guitar. Harrison did play on the track and contributed backing vocals, but Ringo had nothing to do with the song itself. Around this time, Petty was active in the Traveling Wilburys with Lynne, Harrison, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison.

Stevie was a huge fan of his. When first going solo, she told her management, (the same management as his), that she wanted to be like the female Tom Petty. After meeting, they were close friends all the way up to when he passed in 2016. She said at a concert since, he was the only person on this earth who really understood her, artistically, and in life.

Tom's catalogue is such an amazing deep dive with great collaborations throughout his career... Mike Campbell was usually nearby and the Wilbury's of course during much of this era with Jeff Lynne and George... It would be next to impossible to pick a favorite Petty song, but this one is right on up there, along with "Don't Do Me Like That." Also I never hear anyone mention their song called "Change of Heart." No one seems to remember it anymore, but I think it's an underappreciated song and just as good as any of their other hits.

Tom Petty fans are fans for life! There's a version of his song Breakdown that is live.... I have it on my ipod but can't find the version on utube.... It's live... And the audience literally takes over singing it for him because they were so loud... He simply let them... They did in pretty good harmony 7/10 of the whole song... When there was a little musical break from the lyrics he said wow.. You guys are gonna put me out of a job... It was such a touching tribute to the interaction between an audience and artist.
I've only seen that kind of appreciation one other time in person at a Niel Young concert.... He just finished heart of gold and the audience gave him the loudest standing ovation for about ten minutes! He tried to address us a few times and couldn't cause of the continued ovation... By the time it quieted down enough he was in tears and visibly moved....

Omg, Tom is my first musical love!!! 🤩🥰 Yep, that was George, and Jeff, and Ringo!!! Full Moon Fever is one of my all-time favorite albums!!! Love is a Lobg Road, Running Down a Dream, and Alright For Now are amazing songs from that album. Here Comes My Girl is probably my all-time fave TP song, but American Girl, Refugee, Breakdown (gotta do the live version!) Don't Come Around Here No More, The Best of Everything, the live version of Needles and Pins with Stevie, and my favorite Stevie collab, Inside are amazing. But I think the Tom song that probably means the most to me personally, is the one I couldn't get out of my head for the 3 days I spent in the hospital before my middle child was born, The Waiting 😊
It's not Tom Petty's voice that necessarily grabs me, but the passion behind his vocals. He had such an amazing talent as a musician and songwriter, but the passion he infused his recordings with is what sets him apart. This is one of my all-time favorite songs. One of Johnny Cash's, too; he covered it late in his career. I was so sad when Tom Petty passed, because it was the passing of an absolute legend. There are so few musicians who can do what he did.
