Bruce Willis sings "smokin cigarettes and watching Captain Kangaroo " in Pulp Fiction, also with Samuel L Jackson. Both actors are in Unbreakable and Glass, too.
14:55 - This scene was referenced in The Incredibles. Early on Frozone goes to grab a cup of water from a water cooler before freezing the cop that has a gun drawn on him.
1995 was a great year for movies. In addition to "Die hard 3", "Braveheart", "Apollo 13", and "Heat", there was: "GoldenEye" "Murder In The First" "Bad Boys" "Copycat" "Rob Roy" "Strange Days" "Desperado" "Four Rooms" "Stargate" "Jade" "Mallrats" "Get Shorty" "Congo"
Two of the iconic voices of modern cinema were Alan Rickman and Jeremy Irons, coincidentally both 'Die Hard' villains. Jeremy Irons lives in a restored castle in Ireland with his Irish wife Sinead Cusack of the famous Irish acting family of Cusacks (famous in Ireland at least), no relation to the Chicago acting family of Cusacks that includes John and sister Joan.
The cop holding the gun on Sam Jackson in the subway, the one with the shaky hands, looks A LOT like the cop who shoots at his character in the jewelry store in The Incredibles movie. I wonder if they did that on purpose in The Incredibles. They even DO the same thing in the scene - well, close to it.
Apparently the sign was CGI'd in post production to avoid trouble on set, as they were really filming in Harlem. If memory serves it actually said 'I hate people'.
The chemistry and the banter between John and Zeus is what make this film my favorite🤣 There is a movie called "The hitman's bodyguard" starred Ryan Reynolds and Samuel Jackson and Sam's character there is kinda remind me of Zeus a little bit, except he swears way more than Zeus did🤣
The bridge scene was actually filmed over the old Cooper river bridges in Charleston, SC. I hated it while they were filming, because it shut down traffic to an entire bridge (Grace Memorial Bridge). During rush hour, it used to take 20 to 30 minutes to cross the 2.5 mile bridge from downtown Charleston to Mt Pleasant. All traffic was diverted to the parallel bridge, only 3 lanes, during filming (the Pearman Bridge), and it was a madhouse. I was only about 14, so not driving yet but I still remember it well. Thankfully, they finally tore down both bridges and replaced it with an eight-lane bridge with a large bike/walking path. It's the 3rd longest cable stayed bridge in the Western Hemisphere. Anyways, enough about my city, I think this is my favorite of all of them, but I might be a slightly biased because of the connection. I also really love the villain in this one.
Teething is a rather sad excuse to not watch this surprise hit ;) One of my fave quotes is Samuel recalling the time he and Bruce were at Cannes to promote Pulp Fiction while still shooting "Die Hard 3 together, I paraphrase Bruce telling Sam: "...sure, this movie will put you on the map, but Die Hard's gonna make you a star!" I can potentially see this being added to yer regular x-mas viewing roster 😂
My favorite ☺ Had a great time watching your reaction, thank you (Jen and "people are gonna be late for work 🤣!!!) Love this movie thanks to the perfect duo + the amazing Jeremy, fun entertainment
The music is originally from a mid-1800's ACW song "When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again, hoorah, hoorah". The "ants" version is new words for the old music.
Hey Guys, love the reaction..David Thewlis was going to play the villian here, but ended up choosing Dragonheart.Check out Reversal of Fortune,He won the Oscar for that role.
This channel deserves way more subscribers!! Can I suggest a cpl movies you two will like, AVA with Jessica Chastain and CLOSE with Noomi Rapace lastly THE OLD GUARD with Charlize Theron..
24:23 It never fails to amaze me why I can’t remember their solution to this every time I see the movie. My brain only works this problem as 3g to 5g, then do it again, filling 5g and leaving 1g in the 3 g. Dump out the 5g, pour the remaining 1g into it, then another 3g. Their solution of 5g to 3g, leaving 2g, then dumping the 3g, transferring the 2g, then dumping 1g from the 5g to fill the 3g and leaving 4g is absolutely as valid. It just never makes sense “in reverse” to me. Curious if others have experienced something similar…
When Sam Jackson asks the kid the hand him a newspaper, only to smack the kid's head with it, reminds of me how here in Finland parents would make their kids go to collect branches from the forrest for them to be used for spanking, as a form of a punisment.
Jerry was a good one. Proof of how many people are overqualified for their jobs. He'd probably be a lecturer or historian but driving trucks to pay bills. Jackson and Willis were always a good acting duo! This, Pulp Fiction (though it weren't paired), Unbreakable, Glass... did I miss any?
Jerry is my absolute favorite kind of New Yorker! One of those old guys who have been doing the kind of jobs without which the city couldn't exist (like sanitation), but who loves to learn history on his off time and knows all kinds of random trivia like who the first president was to ride in a ferris wheel.
NICE! Originally, this was going to be an action thriller titled SIMON SAYS, about a mad bomber named Simon who plays a deadly game of cat and mouse with a NYPD officer, setting up riddles and bombs hidden all over the city, where the cop must solve all the clues or the bombs will destroy every monument in New York. Brendan Lee was going to star as the lead, but sadly died in 1993 on the set of The Crow. It was then decided that it would be a DIE HARD film titled DIE HARD IN NEW YORK. An alternative ending was filmed but cut from the movie as it involves McClane getting fired from the police department after he had failed to stop Simon from stealing the gold. McClane tracks down Simon at a coffee shop in Hungary, and plays a game with him called McClane Says, with a Chinese Rocket Launcher, but the sights are removed from the weapon. After Simon gets the answer wrong, he fires the launcher, accidentally killing himself. McClane walks away with a satisfied look on his face. Test audiences hated the ending and didn't want to see McClane turn from hero to cold blooded killer at the end.
23:47 There is 2 solutions to the water test; 1 - Fill the 5 then pour that into the 3 = 2 still in the 5. Empty the 3 then pour the remaining 2 in the 5 into the 3. Fill the 5 then use it to fill the 3 that has 2 in there already so only needs 1 leaving 4 in the 5. Or 2 - Fill the 3 then pour in the 5, refill the 3 then use to fill the 5 which has 3 in it so leaves 1 in the 3. Empty the 5 then pour the remaining 1 into the 5. Refill the 3 then fill the 5 making 4. Elephant jokes; How do you know there in an elephant in your fridge? There will be footprints in the butter. How many elephants can you get into a Mini? Total 9, 2 in the front, 2 in the back & 5 in the trunks.
My favorite Die Hard movie! Great reaction! One thing I really loved is how in the first 2 films, most of the cops and FBI agents were idiots who actually messed up the situations, but in this one, everybody was smart and dedicated to doing the right thing and helping stop the criminals. SO refreshing! Have you guys watched American Horror Story? I'd love to see you react to that.
"Never enough time to complete a trace." In reality a "trace" only requires a warrant to the phone company who never put through a call until they know who to bill. Every call is already traced.
Your comment about the scenes of New Yorkers stumbling out of the subway hit me right in the feels. This is my favorite Die Hard movie, both because it takes place in (imo)the greatest city in the world, and because it plausibly depicts the dedication some of our best first responders exhibit every day. I tear up every time Charlie finds out that there are still kids in the school, and insists on staying and attempting to defuse the bomb. It's been a tough month here (feels like it's been a year already) and next week is our American Thanksgiving- I'm just thankful that there are still good people like you two out there in the world.
The plan Simon had wasn't just a good plan, it was a perfect plan. It's too perfect actually. When the scriptwriters had to turn in their script for security purposes due to the usage of real-life locations like the Federal Reserve the FBI actually brought them in for questioning because they realized that the plan to distract and borough would actually work and were questioning how the writers had so much intensive knowledge. The writers told the FBI that everything they had learned was via publicly available knowledge. Needless to say, It forced new security measures.
Yeah this the first one I've seen, got me into action movies as a whole, is my favorite. Another film with that's Die Hard-esque, with Bruce Willis that people seem to forget, Is the Last Boy Scout. I'd recommend it. It has Damon Wayans in it. if you've never seen Mo Money, that's a good watch as well.
As a German let me tell you, those thugs/actors were anything but German...without the subtitles I wouldn't have understood a thing of what they were mumbling there 😂 Except the guy on the radio at the stadium, he's just about intelligible but clearly not German either!
Fill the 3 gallon jug, pour it into the 5 gallon jug. Fill the 3 gallon jug again, pour it into the 5 gallon jug. Only 2 gallons will fit, leaving 1 gallon in the 3 gallon jug. Empty the 5 gallon jug. Pour the 1 gallon in the 3 gallon jug into the 5 gallon jug. Fill the 3 gallon jug again, and pour it into the 5 gallon jug. Voila, 4 gallons in the 5 gallon jug.
Bruce Willis sings "smokin cigarettes and watching Captain Kangaroo " in Pulp Fiction, also with Samuel L Jackson. Both actors are in Unbreakable and Glass, too.
As a kid I'd ride in my dad's pickup and we'd sing "Flowers On The Wall" by the Statler Brothers 💖
This is the best one cinematically. Better budget and film making. Much higher stakes. Great actors.
It's definitely A+!
14:55 - This scene was referenced in The Incredibles. Early on Frozone goes to grab a cup of water from a water cooler before freezing the cop that has a gun drawn on him.
2:50 Guy who plays Rick, bets his badge number every week, plays an LAPD cop in Die Hard also.

@@Flix2Us BTW...nice spotting...Simon did have an M60 machine gun. LOL
If John Mc Clane is not covered in Blood, It isn't a Die Hard Movie

I thought that scene was familiar!
True Die Hard action, what a great duo these two make. So you guys are Canadian too, that's nice, greetings from Calgary.
Their reaction to the sandwich board sign was priceless

Alan Rickman, Jeremy Irons, David Tennant, Tom Hiddleston, Charles Dance etc. You want a good British actor to play a villain.

just a suggestion but if you would like to see a young Bruce Willis try the film Blind Date 1987
30 yrs later and i still don't get the water jug riddle.
