    I use that one daily, we have a vf-2 and a gm-2 running ngc, I wish our vf-5 was. The legacy controller is still very intuitive, I just wish they would upgrade.

    I wonder is there a similar way to preserve the probe offset on the legacy control?

      Yup. Would be super usefull.

      I wrote a macro for it, which deletes all the offsets except one that you leave alone. The only problem is having to be careful which program is used for which machine since the T-value might be different.

      @@ydna I'm going to copy your idea, I have macros. I'd need to look up the variable numbers for coolant position. I should also write one that automatically sets coolant position based on tool length.

      Hmm. Not that I can think of. Andrew’s Macro idea is brilliant. I’m going to look at that myself.

    Why clear all but probe offset? Why not just overwrite new offset values as you set the required tools into the machine?

    • @markterryberry4477
      @markterryberry4477 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hah. The best way to streamline a process, is to remove it! Nice. I don’t know why I always clear all offsets between jobs if pulling tools. OCD a bit.

    • @billknighton4181
      @billknighton4181 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same question. I always write over. Maybe I’m not being efficient? I don’t see the downside.

      Because if u forgett to enter new value, you will se 0 in offset... safety.

    Can Haas machine be Jogged without referencing it first?

  • @bigchrish1975

    It would be nice if there was a post that added this macro after the tool call line with block skip hashes so that after the first run they can be ignored. Essentially load tools set work offset and cycle start.

    Hey Mark, question for you.. Is there a macro variable for the next tool number to be called up into the machine? Cheers

    • @ryanballiet9435
      @ryanballiet9435 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not exactly sure what you're asking but, Just put the next tool number into your program on a separate line without the m6 and depending on the machine it will/or wont precall the tool and save you a bit of time during tool changes.

      Portland cnc has a great tool tower and they also resell the standard MSC tags.

      Soon. Haas Tooling is adding items every week. At a meeting this week they were showing off 450 new inspection tools that are being added by the end of summer. Those tool tags are great, and they are on the list as well, being sourced

    • @ludacrips76
      @ludacrips76 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@markterryberry4477 Mark, the biggest thing on the wish list for me is the tag holder/ tower. Yes I could keep running 3d printed ones but they are not as durable as an injection molded plastic and the bigger issue is affixing them to the machine. If Haas could make one that holds 30 tags (or one that holds 20, one holds 10, to cover all machine tool sizes), has easily identifiable and changeable numbered positions and can be affixed to both newer machines and the legacy equipment it would be great! Thanks for the reply and great work Mark!

    I’m trying to buy hsm for my vf2 - I gave my credit card info at 9am this morning and haven’t heard anything from my hfo, parts,service - anybody. Isn’t it just a code? Why is it so hard to buy a feature ( that should come standard )

    • @ydna
      @ydna ปีที่แล้ว

      because your HFO is ran by idiots. You should name them so others know their service will be garbage if they buy a machine in your area. Some of the HFOs are great, others are horrible, it's luck of the draw 🤷‍♂

      @@markterryberry4477 hey - thanks for the response - I have a 2022 vf2 it was delivered oct 2022 - with obviously a ngc. My machine slows to a crawl on most of my tool paths, I didn’t realize how dramatic the difference was between hsm and non hsm. It’s almost unusable with my parts.
      Yes I am using g187, and I have arc smoothing enabled on my cam side.
      Yes, trial is all used up unfortunately. Dealer is aware of my request, I gave my credit card info yesterday at 9am - today 6pm still no code. Quite unfortunate because I have a pile of work on my bench, and being a 1 man operation - this machine without hsm is really very .. very slow.
