  • Poet and critic Geoffrey Nilson interviews writer and musician Jeremy Stewart about his new book In Singing He Composed a Song (University of Calgary Press, 2021). In Singing, He Composed a Song is a formally experimental novella that tells the story of a high school student assaulted by the police and committed to the psychiatric ward.
    In addition to In Singing, He Composed a Song, Jeremy Stewart is also the author of poetry collections Hidden City (Invisible Publishing, 2014) and (flood basement (Caitlin Press, 2009). Originally from northern British Columbia, Canada, Stewart is a PhD student in English Literature at Lancaster University, UK. He once dropped a piano off a building.
    Geoffrey Nilson is a poet, editor, literary critic, and the founder of micropress pagefiftyone. He is the author of four chapbooks and his writing has recently appeared in Canadian Literature and Arc Poetry Magazine. Nilson holds a BA in Creative Writing from Kwantlen Polytechnic University and is currently reading towards his MA in English from Simon Fraser University.
