  • The Marin Pine Mountain 2 is the fancier of 2 levels of Pine Mountain bikes from Marin.
    These bikes are steel hardtails featuring more mounting points for bags and accessories than any other bike - EVER. The handlebars are designed to give generous mounting area for bags or things like lights, computer etc.
    The bike is $2899 Canadian ($2099 USD), has a Cromoly frame, 120mm travel Rockshox 35 fork and Shimano SLX 1x12 drivetrain.
    We are Bike Bros. a bike shop in Cochrane, Alberta, Canada. We sell Marin, Giant, Rocky Mountain, and Pivot.

    I bought this bike about 5 months ago and enjoy it quite a bit! I swapped out the tires for maxxis ardents to lower the weight a bit and cruise better on pavement which seemed to help a ton with its sluggishness. It feels smooth on trails, the frame bends around turns and absorbs a lot of impact through rough terrain. To me this bike feels like a jack of all trades, it can do many things well but doesn't necessarily exceed at any one particular thing. Perfect for someone who only has the desire for one bike that can pretty much do it all.

    Steel is also incredibly easy to get welded at any exhaust shop anywhere in a pinch.

    Thanks for the review, the bike indeed weights a ton even with the needed modifications. You didn't mention one thing tho, how is the lockage of the fork? Does it work properly or not?

    Any ideas if they will sell a frame set only? I had a pine mountain 2 2018. Love the frame, not sure about the cheap wheels, crankset and fork.

      Hi, I don't believe Marin sells the frame set.

    Hi what max. tyer size is fit for this bike, its take 29 3.0?

      Hi, I don't think 3" tires would fit. It has been a while but I think 2.6" is as big as it will safely handle.

    Thx for great review, but whats your thoughts on changing the fork to a right fork and can you change the 26" to 27+ use getting into bikepacking

    • @BikeBrosBikeShop
      @BikeBrosBikeShop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could switch to a rigid fork, though it might be a challenge finding one with the same axle to crown length to maintain the geometry. Switching wheel size is physically possible however the bottom bracket height would drop by about 19mm which could be dangerous because of how easy it would be to hit pedals going over rocks or pedalling while cornering

      @@BikeBrosBikeShop Hi it seems quite similar to the Bomtrack Beyond ADV although I don't know what price its it but its got 3" wheels and ridgetforks

    • @BikeBrosBikeShop
      @BikeBrosBikeShop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@douglascarrphotography Yes, some similarities. The Bombtrack is beautiful and is probably the one to pick if you were almost exclusively bikepacking. The Marin is more for those interested in using the bike as much for riding mountain bike trails as they are using it for bike packing.

    NICE BIKE BUT PRICED WAY TOO HIGH FOR WHAT IT COMES WITH especially for a hardtail

    • @BikeBrosBikeShop
      @BikeBrosBikeShop  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cromolly hardtails don't typically represent the best derailler for dollar value race... I think people buy these with specific goals in mind and realize this Pine Mountain is pretty decent price for what you get and the niche it fills.
