i am 76 and new to Orthodoxy, was just baptized in 2018 with my husband and grown son, this year my grown daughters were baptized...have listened to your teachings regularly since 2016, wonderful help to actually see the Church for the first time. Just want you to know your teaching helped bring us to where we are in my family.....since becoming Orthodox and reading lives of Saints observed humiliation and adversity can be great blessing in disguise, and protection. Forgive how clumsy I put this just want to encourage and thank you

Father, all I can say is there is no hell like bureaucratic hell. And ecclesiastical bureaucratic hell tops them all. My father was an MP priest for almost 40 years, including when OCA was created. I won't go into particulars, except to say there were many times he'd get migraines (literally) from dealing with E 97th St. It's a testament to your character that you haven't thrown in the towel, and that you found an effective way to teach the Faith in-depth online.

Fr. Peter, an orthodox from Georgia 🇬🇪 here. In the past couple of months, I’ve been following you and watching your content and it’s a huge blessing. In fact, I thought, how great it is he posts so much content every week and how much work it must be. You post 3 hour long videos and it’s incredible. Can’t even begin to express the gratitude for how much I learned watching your channel. So I thought, maybe it’s god’s will you keep reaching out to the wider world audience by your channel and bring more people to orthodoxy than if you were a parish priest. God forgive me if I say something that I shouldn’t say. This is just what I genuinely thought after I watched this video and learned about your clerical situation. I also wasn’t surprised that some people aren’t happy about your teachings, because you speak the truth and don’t compromise on it for any reason.
May lord lead you and guide you through this difficult times and get you to where you need to be.
We, the audience here just love your work and appreciate how much effort you keep putting into this.❤️

I visited in 2016, met with the Patriarch and went to his house in the mountains and many monasteries and holy places. It was very good.
Thank you for your kind words!
You are correct! It is God's will! It was not ours, that is for sure. We have accepted His will and wait on Him to rectify matters as soon as is blessed.
      Thank you for your prayers!

In short Father Peter got a bit caught between the Church in Greece and the Moscow Patrirachate in the US. The first released him (at his request because he was moving back to the US from Greece) and the latter accepted him, but then there was a change of leadership and Father sort of slipped through the cracks. Now it seems he has ruffled the feathers of the Ecumenical Patriarch and so he is making it difficult for Father to get a proper resolution. There is nothing untoward about Father Peter's behaviour, no scandal of money or sex or anyting like that (and goodness knows we have plenty of that in our Church). I think what started out as an unfortunate administrative issue has developed into a more political one and Father is a bit stuck. Hopefully common sense will prevail and the Bishops / Patriarchs can sort it out and give Father a home within one of the juridictions in the US. He has a lot to offer our Church and the people of God.

If you are in such good hands as these men have proven to have then who am I to be overly inquisitive and worrisome. And not to mention you preaching the exact things the saints were saying. God bless you Father Heers and all those who were unfortunately a hindrance and may it be resolved as fast as possible. I apologize to Father Peter Heers for some sarcastic and mocking comments which I posted on his videos. That's on me and was totally out of line; even if Father Peter's critics had been correct, it was bad. Because of all the bad press, I thought he was a "false teacher" or something, a "guru," a "latter-day Rasputin" (but was Rasputin really that bad?). This is a classic case of zeal without knowledge. Orthofreak with bad catechesis. At first, I greatly admired his message, listened to everything, and benefited greatly. But, later, I felt a tremendous frustration with him and his videos because of very harsh criticisms I had heard from people I know in Orthodoxy, laymen and clergy alike, and then read stuff online, most of which I now realize seems to have been mistaken. My humble apologies to Father Peter and his friends. Sincere and humble apologies. If I saw him in person, I would feel obliged to do a proskenysis and beg forgiveness. I repent of my mocking remarks concerning him and his online mission. With love for your zeal for the faith and beautiful translations. It seems that people with good intentions get persecuted, both saints, clergy and laity. (More disturbingly, in Father Peter's case, I almost noticed a sense of glee by some people, myself sadly included, at his unresolved status, especially the liberal Orthodox camp.) Saint John Maximovitch was humiliated with frivolous lawsuits. Saint Basil of Ostrog often had to flee his own Orthodox people and fought hierarchs with Uniate tendencies, not to mention the Turks and Latin missionaries. He found refuge in a cave high up in one the most remote reaches of the Montenegrin highlands. And let us not forget Saint Nektarios and what he went through on Evia, where angry mobs would shout him down as he preached. But even on the microlevel. I have seen good Orthodox priests persecuted by their parish councils and tyrannical priests rewarded. Even in non-Orthodox circles, even in non-Christian circles, envy reigns. Look what happened to John F. Kennedy. Said the Psalmist: "Behold, I was conceived in iniquities, and in sin did my mother bear me." We would all like to think that we would be on the "right side of history" when a well-intentioned or righteous person appeared, even though they may have points with which we could disagree. We would like to think that we would be like Saint Zlata (18th century) when the Turks came to kill her, not like her family who told her casually to deny the faith, so as to appease the Muslims. We would not be like Patriarch Irinaeus of Serbia who lit a menorah, etc. We would be with the defenders of Saint Nektarios, not his persecutors? But would we? How easily I've seen people casually say bad things about Father Peter and other priests I know, myself included. It seems the kinder the priest, the more animosity. And this just adds grist to the mill of the haters of Orthodoxy. Sorry for the length or if this is prolix. I just feel so bad about this whole thing. At least forgiveness is the essence of our faith. This is why forgiveness is central to Salvation. In Islam, Judaism, as well as other religions, there is no concept of forgiveness. While Saints Peter and Paul embraced, the direct disciples of someone who appeared in the 7th century in a certain part of the world ended up killing each other within a generation of their leader's death and continue to do so to this day. I end with a quote from Saint Nektarios:
The graceful speech of a Christian is characterized by delicateness and politeness. This fact, born of love, produces peace and joy. On the other hand, boorishness gives birth to hatred, enmity, affliction, competitiveness, disorder and wars.
    Forgive me Father.

It might be memory-holed, but his pronouncement was that if one did not take the covid vax, you were obliged to pray every day until you died, confessing the sin of murder, because you not taking the vax =murder. It became obvious to me when I read an article about you by a professor(I won't name names), in an orthodox(?) magazine online, in which you are called a homophobe, a transphobe etc, mentioned your opinions about the vaxx in a very negative light, went so far as to call you a far right fundamentalist. It's pretty obvious what's going on. May God have mercy. But, to everyone reading this, I am an Orthodox Greek in Greece, and what Father Peter talks about is common knowlege here, well, to most Greeks. If your online activity and writings are a cause for concern among the bishops, why did you not put those on pause until canonical irregularities were sorted out and proper oversight established? After all, priests are not free agents, but are an extension of the bishop's care; generally, anything they do related to the Church requries their blessing. Eventually your TH-cam channel and other social media accounts would have had to have come under proper eccesiastical oversight anyways; that's an inevitably if proper order is to be maintained.
During the process of receiving laity into the Church, they can sometimes be required to cease certain actions that hinder their entry into the Church. How much more we should expect from Clergy who are called to shepherd the flock in peace and in unity with the rest of the Church body?

Father Heers exhausted with extreme patience and respect all internal remedies. Only then did he go to the people with his concerns. These concerns of his are concerns of ours and are properly shared to us. I’m aware of orgs that hermetically seal criticism to ensure leadership doesn’t truly “hear” unwanted information. We all are priests in God’s kingdom at least of our homes and we all have a role in accountability of the church at large. That role is a sacred role and is in no way disrespectful to the leadership. In fact it shows great love to the leadership that we care about their purity. The leadership should take these remarks and understand they are wounds of love and are intended with full respect to the dignity of their offices.
