I met Alice in 1978. In fact, I hung out with him the better part of a day. He was without a doubt, the nicest, coolest and most down to earth rock star that I ever met. What a great guy!

There's no getting around it, it took serious balls for these guys to do a slow dirge like Black Juju on television! They didn't rush or shorten it, they took their time and wrung it out for all it was worth. " I'm 18" was certainly radio- friendly enough to not be all that radical or out of place on television, but Black Juju is a whole 'nother thing......and then there's the props and stage show. Watching this clip brings back great memories. I saw Alice Cooper in June of 1971. It was probably my favorite concert experience ever. They were introduced as "the world's most glamorous band" and I'm pretty sure they did every song off Love It To Death and closed with "Return of the Spiders" with chicken feathers flying out over the crowd. It was a pretty small club The Wild Goose and I was right up front.

This was 1971, Alice was scary and wild, people didn't know what to think. They pushed the envelope and those of us who 'got' it loved it to death. They truly started a lot of what became, metal, glam and shock rock. And, they were a 'Killer' band too boot.

My older brother saw them on the killer tour.. I loved this band. I used to have a paper route. I bought schools out and billion dollar babies.and they were on the first in concert. With the hanging. 6 months later this place called capital centre opened. Tickets were $ 3.50. And this new band called zz top opened. Just great
This was too cool I was lucky to see this Band Doing this show when i was about 12 Doing the whole 18 LP me And My Brother we in Front of the stage At The Cobo hall autorama But they Had awesome Bands Back then I think Bob seger and Tegarden and Vanwinkle Played this Show Then the Lights When Off This was In The Basement Of Cobo When the Light Came alice was wearing the Dress Off The LP Cover and Then the Coolest Show i ever Have seen Started I will Never Forget That Night What a Memory
What a song, what performers! Altho I don't say I get "Black JuJu," If A.C. & every musician weren't right on in this performance of "I'm Eighteen," the mini interview before they begin singing is priceless -- I hunted thru tons of performances, to find this one with the interview . . .
+hulahooper **〈〈))*8^} there was honestly so much awkward tension between Vince and the interviewer it was weird o.O He wasnt even looking at the guy he was staring at his beard and everywhere else haha!
I was one of those 10 to 15 people and we knew. We used to watch them tape the show all the time but we usually had to stay in the back with the roadies and groupies. Oh, and I was 18 at the time.
Thanks to my brother Donnie ...i remember him playing it then I stole it and listened to it till my ears were bleeding... today I’m a big fan of Manson’s early live stuff. And a listen to star crawler..........
I think his vocals were the very best on the “Killer” album. I’ve read stories that Bob Ezrin would have him do so many takes that he would become horse and with a sore throat. But this is probably one reason why he became a great vocalist.
What a blast to see this old clip. boy Alice is very reserved in this . I saw them at The Alexandria Roller Rink back in 71 & they were super good !!!! I remember that electric chair & fire extinguishers & pillows of feathers everywhere. also saw them in 72 &73 , They always played well.... That's Berry Richard's our local MD DJ who Mc'd so many shows in the MD & DC area's . I remember him from his days on AM radio at WINX till he was fired & then began our best radio station playing all this & any progressive rock coming up , that was WHMC FM radio. He was a nerd but he meant well & had acts like Alice & Humble Pie on this short lived TV show. Those were the days !!!
Yes he was reserved in this clip, during Black JuJu they always had the feather pillow, and I saw them once in 72 at Cobo Hall in Detroit where they had so many feathers flying, everyone in that arena went home with them in their hair. They didn't use the electric chair that time, they hung him. The first time I saw him do the electric chair thing was a year later on the BDB tour. This really brought back memory's thanks for the upload.
I realize our comments are 2 years old but i remember when he started spreading the feathers they actually caught the stage on fire by accident when the lights ignited some of them. With all the smoke & strobes most of us had realized the fire wasn't part of the show . The stage hands began to shoot off those powder fire extinguishers & as you said the feathers were floating through the small roller rink & ended up in everyone's hair & everywhere else. Back then at that show in 71 he used the chair & a baby doll which he screwed the head off at the crescendo of the song, way cool .... Saw him later in the DC area when the LP Killer came out ,that's when he used the gallows to hang himself. Those were the daze .... oh yea back when tickets were 3 dollars & bands could play as long as the wanted .
Modern rock and metal bands could learn a helluva lot about the use of Dynamics from the original AC band. This is what the Doors wish they could have pulled off. Neil Smith has to be the most underrated rock drummer of all time.
1973, age 14 when I first heard this song. 50 years later, where has the time gone?

I learned not to fall asleep with this tune on as it will wake your ass up.
@@Darryl6636 School's Out LP is where Dunaway really shined.
While the whole album is brilliant, I must have played Caught in a Dream a million times. Just a great straight ahead rocker.
Just great
Well....that´s as good as it gets. Love it to death is a perfect album.
Alice has always been rock n roll performance art...plain and simple
A rocker and a bad ass dude. Saw him in NYC. In 1975 !!! Welcome to my nightmare tour.
Black Juju is a Pink Floyd-like beast of song. Why this opus never saw airplay baffles me.
Priceless, SoDamnGOOO, I'm speechless!
The Original Band still the Greatest !!!
This is unbelievable !
Too good to be True.. this is an exeptation...!
I thought the original Alice Cooper line up was one of the best American rock bands....ever.
What a great piece of film!!!!!
I was like 8 years old the first time I heard Alice Cooper it was Killer album I am 58 now and still a huge fan.
1/2 of this crowd probably went to see the Partridge Family the night before and then here comes
Alice Cooper like a bolt of lightning
PERFORMANCE ART AT ITS BEST, NO ONE ELSE CAN OR EVER DO IT AS GOOD😍✌👍😁🙂💜❣
Shades of Shock Rock to come! I discovered Alice in 1970 on a Warner Brothers showcase LP of up-and-coming artists. They fried my hair!
I like how Alice is wearing the same pants and belt from the back cover of Easy Action.
That was the album they were still pushing at this point. These were tunes they were trying out live.
This was too cool I was lucky to see this Band Doing this show when i was about 12 Doing the whole 18 LP me And My Brother we in Front of the stage At The Cobo hall autorama But they Had awesome Bands Back then I think Bob seger and Tegarden and Vanwinkle Played this Show Then the Lights When Off This was In The Basement Of Cobo When the Light Came alice was wearing the Dress Off The LP Cover and Then the Coolest Show i ever Have seen Started I will Never Forget That Night What a Memory
this is like the ultimate first metal/industrial/rock/hardcore band ever. alice is a god
@@Drunk_Punk.98 I really agree with you on that. In stories I’ve read Alice didn’t like guys hovering around him and not even female groupies either.
Thks so much for that! No better couldn't have happened to a 9 year old way back...these Alice Coopers! Changed my life for better completely!
Im a huge Cooper fan . Saw him at MSG in nyc .1975 the nightmare tour ! No words 2 describe , what acshow he put on
Great band....and Alice is right up here with Jim Morrison as one of the best dynamic ballsy screamer rock vocalists.
The grandfather of theatrical rock 1st row coliseum Cleveland damn it here come the flashbacks hold on purple microdot before his wife joined the show
ALICE COOPER RAW!👹
20 people in the audience and i dont think they have a clue what they just saw!!!!!!
Lol funny
I was one of those 10 to 15 people and we knew. We used to watch them tape the show all the time but we usually had to stay in the back with the roadies and groupies. Oh, and I was 18 at the time.
hahahahah
Joseph Bruno I have no clue what I just saw. But I liked it anyway. I was four that year.
Thanks to my brother Donnie ...i remember him playing it then I stole it and listened to it till my ears were bleeding... today I’m a big fan of Manson’s early live stuff.
And a listen to star crawler..........
Alice's voice was great back then!
I used to see him at Sherwood Forest in Davison Michigan back in the early 70's. One of the tightest bands you could ever hears and see
Alice Cooper fan from this time to now. LOVE IT TO DEATH !
I love Alice Cooper so much
Modern rock and metal bands could learn a helluva lot about the use of Dynamics from the original AC band. This is what the Doors wish they could have pulled off. Neil Smith has to be the most underrated rock drummer of all time.
