I just want to say that S & H is a fantastic dealer. We had an issue with a Kioti CTL. The thing was a lemon. Just didn't work right, and nobody could figure out the issue. They took care of everything. Loaner machines while the Kioti was in the shop, delivered.. never without a machine. They eventually bought it back at full price and got us an incredible deal on a New Holland. Buying a brand new machine, especially an unproven one like the Kioti CTL was kind of scary. When our worst fears were realized, we were very worried that we would take a loss on the machine or be stuck with a lemon. S & H did right by us and we will never shop anywhere else for equipment. I know this sounds like a commercial, but we have been so imoressed by them, and I can't help telling everyone when I get the chance. Dealer is way more important than the brand.
Hi Brock while I agree with you that the JCB appears to be a very versatile machine. You have discounted the million more things that a mini excavator can accomplish. Your emphasis is on digging; while, the mini excavator can raise building walls, get shingles on a roof, stack up a fire. I had a Kubota Kx057-5 and except for grading the driveway with my tractor, the excavator has been the most useful piece of equipment I have. I fact my neighbor just bought a Kubota u48-5 and has transformed his property. You videos are great.
@@raeparchment Not quite sure what you are presenting with that link, it looks like an excavator with buckets and a pallet fork. The only thing is that it has the "extra arm" like most wheeled excavators have. Menzi would be a better example when it comes to innovative ideas.
Innovative like turning limes into lemons. I’ll take rugged reliability over untested innovation. I love this concept for a machine but being a product of JCB who have proven time and time again to be unreliable, expensive, and having terrible customer service. It’s a hard pass for a lot of people, myself included I think most of us will wait until another company decides to try their hand at this concept.
Brock, you should dock pay of your fancy expensive videographer. His keeping interior cab shots in frame during filming failed the quality standards of the highly regarded educational institution he attended! 😂😂😂 Love the effort big guy. That’s why we love your videos!!! Keep’ ‘em coming!
JCB has really gone downhill on reliability, I’ve had two 570-80 telehandlers for my hay business and they were not great. I do love there mono boom skid steer though. Most JCB dealers are upfront about reliability issues as of late. JCB redesigned the Fasttrac because they had lost so many sales to competitors. Setting all that side, this machine is very cool. Can you imagine having a thumb on the excavator and grabble on the front? That would be a nice land clearing machine.
Make a skid steer with similar engine layout and seat positioning as the JCB, BUT with the ability to run all tractor attachments in the rear. That is why I bought a tractor instead of a skidsteer. Better versatility and I can carry more stuff with my tractor (I made a 3pt carryall box that holds shovels, chainsaws etc). Love a skid steer, but if does just a few things great. I would have to make multiple runs to bring all skid steer attachments to the site. If you have a tractor than add a excavator to your toys then a skid steer depending on what your needs are.
Howdy Brock! What a nifty machine. Positives - 2 in 1 versatility. Negative - if it goes down, you lost both tools. Still, if money wasn't an option, I'd love this thing! Nicely done and thanks for sharing 🤠
We have had JCB backhoes in the early 80s and never had a problem. I bought the JCB 1CXT backhoe, love the versatility of the machine, The visibility from the seat is great, leg room is good if you are 5'. But, in one year it has been in the shop 5 times at two different JCB dealers trying to fix the oil leak on the pivot for the backhoe. They have to wait for parts and or they have to call JCB to tell them how to fix it. They told me if it was not under warranty I would be paying $10,000 to $15,000 to fix it each time. I have put 1200 hours on the backhoe and I was told I use the machine too much. I just got the machine back again from the shop and it is leaking oil the first day. I told them I need a new machine because this is a lemon and I was told this will never happen. I wanted to trade this machine in for a cat skid steer and they only want to give me $34,000. I can't afford this machine when it is out of warranty.
You must be a nice guy. After the service problems you have had and the refusal to take the machine back I would have them in court to justify the reason why it can not be fixed and why you can use a construction piece of machinery "too much". I do not see how you can afford the machine while it is under warranty. It sounds like trash to me.
They fix it every time but it will only last 1 month to 1day after they had it in the shop for 2 weeks. Since I have work that I need this machine, I just keep working with it leaking until I get 1 job done. I am not lucky, so if I sued them I would lose and be out of more money then what I will be when I trade it in for some other machine.

I never knew a skid steer and a backhoe had a child. It is interesting I wonder if other makers like Case or Komatsu will adopt this new style of machine or if this machine is just a gimmick.
Wouldn't a backhoe attachment for a skid be a way better option? That thing seems like it would be mediocre as an excavator and mediocre as a skid loader.
Hey Brock, what is the hydraulic flow to the back of the machine? The front is 27 GPM like you mentioned but I don’t remember you mentioning the exact flow to the boom/stick.
A neat machine. But, it surprises me that ROTO-TILT is never shown in American videos of construction machinery. A mini or wheeled excavator with a root tilt can do all this and much more
It’s not a skid steer don’t try spin it into one.The engine is in the front making it a dozer platform with a backhoe on it.Skid steer platform uses a rear engine that is ballast weight for the loader arms that connect to the rear by the engine creating stability and natural level
Basically this or Mecalac, they approach the problem from opposite ends, this is a skid steer that has an excavator on the back, and Mecalac is an excavator that allows you to use it as a Skid Steer.
They are neat machines and a good price point. My concerns are all of the exposed hydraulic lines, small thin linkages and other noticeable weak points. I see a lot of repairs and downtime in its future and due to that reason, the cost essentially goes way up. A slightly used backhoe and an almost new skidsteer would be roughly the same price and you have a "backup" machine for when you need to go do some work. Also a backhoe is way heavier and can drive down the road negating the need to transport it. This machine would also not be a good option for any larger work than landscaping or other small work. Leaving you out of most of the market.
This is just a backhoe that is heavier and way slower and tears up turf. It looks cool and is better than a skid steer but an articulating loader will work circles around this and any skid steer. Europe has USA way beat with what they use compared to the ol tired skid steer or pto twist your back around to use implements.
Yes, an 1845 was my first machine, (not counting tractors) and was incredibly useful. The backhoe was sourced from their full size backhoe and was very powerful. Still miss mine
That's crazy expensive. That machine would be 7 to 10 years old before it's paid for IF the economy doesn't tank in a big way ending all the income opportunities
Pretty much every Excavating or service business has a machine that cost the same amount. A lot of times they have two machines that cost this much to do the same work. My John Deere Skid steer with a few attachments was $100,000
I would never buy a JD due to 2 factors 1 moving to Mexico 2 third party mechanics cant fix any software issues mostly farm equipment not sure about construction equipment. That quick release can be an option
For a machine with this cost, there's no reason the lateral shift of the backhoe boom should be essentially manual. It should be hydraulically operated, period.
@@whiskeyinthejar24 I don’t think one Ram is what would be required. I think it would require a lot of things. You probably need two to make it slide and not bind. Then you need the hoses and you need the electronics to control it. Get much easier. You’re still just moving your lever to move the boom sideways. It’s not like you have to manually do something. They just used the cylinders that are already on it.
@RockhillfarmYT I didn't say better. I said standard. No reason a lateral ram mechanism, to shift the boom, suddenly makes the machine suddenly more complicated or less reliable. In fact, it'd be very simple. I like the concept of this machine a lot. It'd make sense in many scenarios.
So it’s a skid steer with a backhoe on it. Ok for anything while sucking for everything. Maybe landscaping companies would like it. Good luck when it breaks or blows a hose
Which means a bigger truck and a bigger trailer. I’ve already spent a fortune on trucks and trailers, but I can’t haul two 10,000 pound machines at the same time. Maybe that’s better for a lot of people in their situation but it’s not nothing
If that machine had a hydraulic boom shift rather than having to push or drag it side to side it woukd have increased itd usefulness by a fair bit. It didn't even need to be any amazing feats of engineering it could have just been a small hydraulic motor and a piece of cable looped around it once and attached either side simple engineering like they once used on side shift forklifts. Something in my opinion that would have made the machine that much better .
Yeah, I don't think that leg space would be comfortable for long jobs. I think it would actually be painful after some time. That alone would be a reason I wouldn't choose this machine. I do like the concept though.
I don't see how John Deere in Kubota can even be in business. How long can a good old name keep you selling machines when the new machines are money pits how many people have to lose a fortune?
Feels like a tracked backhoe to me. I think having the correct truck and trailer has a lot to do with two pieces of equipment. If you can’t afford the right truck or trailer I see how this appeals people. I just don’t like JCB reliability and service.
BUT, if you can use two machines at a time, you can do more in less total time. Every job is different and time is still money. Yeah, I don't like the front entry. often the implement is in the way of entry or exit. You should get one of these delivered & use on the farm. what you see!!
Just wait until the backhoe kingpost starts leaking or the hydraulic pump blows up you'll be motherfuckering it in no time. Ive replaced 3 pumps in one with less than 65 hours on it. They're shit even for a jcb.

Yah it's every where and because of it we build our world building jcb
I never knew a skid steer and a backhoe had a child. It is interesting I wonder if other makers like Case or Komatsu will adopt this new style of machine or if this machine is just a gimmick.
19:04 runtime and all I heard was Billy was right. The rest sounded like the teacher on Charlie Brown 😂😂😂
Miriam Brown is out here catching strays
Am i having a stroke or was the focus constantly reconfiguring and shaking the footage
Wouldn't a backhoe attachment for a skid be a way better option? That thing seems like it would be mediocre as an excavator and mediocre as a skid loader.
This would be very handy, just if there was an add on of a 3 point hitch setup for rear.
If I needed this I would buy it only for the side entry safer and the backhoe nice
Been out years here in England
Hey Brock, what is the hydraulic flow to the back of the machine? The front is 27 GPM like you mentioned but I don’t remember you mentioning the exact flow to the boom/stick.
Can the seat be used in the side position instead of just facing front or back
Interesting machine, for sure!
I talked to a plumbing contractor locally that loved his. Intriguing for sure.
A neat machine. But, it surprises me that ROTO-TILT is never shown in American videos of construction machinery. A mini or wheeled excavator with a root tilt can do all this and much more
You need to look at the mecalac that’s what you need, incredible machine
Jack of all trades
NEEDED TO HEAR ABOUT BUCKETS REACH FRONT AN BACK LOADING A DUMP TRUCK
It’s not a skid steer don’t try spin it into one.The engine is in the front making it a dozer platform with a backhoe on it.Skid steer platform uses a rear engine that is ballast weight for the loader arms that connect to the rear by the engine creating stability and natural level
Basically this or Mecalac, they approach the problem from opposite ends, this is a skid steer that has an excavator on the back, and Mecalac is an excavator that allows you to use it as a Skid Steer.
It would be nice if the backhoe was removable and could be replaced by a 6 way dozer blade. Always thought a loader-dozer would be a good machine.
Can you drive it while you're facing backwards?
Close. The Kubota M62 is the most versatile with the 3pt. Conversion.
This is just a backhoe that is heavier and way slower and tears up turf. It looks cool and is better than a skid steer but an articulating loader will work circles around this and any skid steer. Europe has USA way beat with what they use compared to the ol tired skid steer or pto twist your back around to use implements.
Should be good counterweight with that boom on the rear for lifting on the front
case had the same concept over 40 years ago with the 1845
All I get when searching for that is a skid steer.
Yes, an 1845 was my first machine, (not counting tractors) and was incredibly useful. The backhoe was sourced from their full size backhoe and was very powerful. Still miss mine
Cool Machine
British JCB that is 🇬🇧🇬🇧😊
That's crazy expensive.
I did a full video on that topic here:
What the **** Happened to John Deere

Are you familiar with the Mecalac MCR series?
Only what I’ve seen in videos
For a machine with this cost, there's no reason the lateral shift of the backhoe boom should be essentially manual. It should be hydraulically operated, period.
Are you sure that is better? Adding a lot of extra components when it’s really easy to just push it over with the boom
@@RockhillfarmYTis one more ram that much more complicated?
Versatile is the most Versatile machine😊. Made in canada for canada. But yes jcb does make nice iron.
Tidy and versatile.
So it’s a skid steer with a backhoe on it. Ok for anything while sucking for everything. Maybe landscaping companies would like it. Good luck when it breaks or blows a hose
It is a kind of MINI BACKHOE LOADER, ON TRACKS.
I have heard that JCB parts are expensive and repair centers are few and far between. It's an overseas machine. True?
It is not an overseas machine. They are somewhat regional in the US. Mainly on the east and in the south.
I keep wishing my backhoe could fill my front end loader for easier movement of material. I guess that would be a s t r e t c h for one machine to do.
very interesting
More versatile than the Huddig 1370?
JCB builds countries ❤❤❤😊
Looks like a good machine, but also looks like its trying to do too much at once on a very compact footprint.
Would of been nice to see what was being talked about.
Parts and the dealership network are the issues with JCB, a neighbour has a telehandler...
John deere had a sliding backhoe in the 60s on a tracked frunt loader.
Granted no rubber tracks then..
Is that an eletric machine?
I showed the diesel engine in the video
I guess it is less tippy going up grade and loading on trailer
How much ?
Side entry door is better for saftey dont have to risk getting out above your boom .
Interesting. But it must be available with a hydraulic thumb or I wouldn’t consider it.
Don't need to take two trips just have a trailer big enough to haul both at the same time
Which means a bigger truck and a bigger trailer.
Trust jcb to pull one outthe bag fantastic
Maşallah
Don't break it! They are impossible to work on. 😂 These are nothing like a skidsteer. No comparison.
I didn't know such a thing even existed, what will they think of next?
The 1CX has been around for 30 years or more .
Mornin
Morning! 🤠
Todd - are you planning on buying one of these fine JCB machines?
@@davidmays2161 if I had money, I would
@@davidmays2161 then again if I had money, I'd buy Brock tractor and take it down to my parents and leave it down there
@@toddcaskey9984 Brock is a walking bank, just ask him for the money.
6 tonne Mecalec with a tiltrotator.
Feels like a tracked backhoe to me. I think having the correct truck and trailer has a lot to do with two pieces of equipment. If you can’t afford the right truck or trailer I see how this appeals people. I just don’t like JCB reliability and service.
There is a reason why nobody has copied the design
Yeah, it’s called a lack of ingenuity.
BUT, if you can use two machines at a time, you can do more in less total time. Every job is different and time is still money. Yeah, I don't like the front entry. often the implement is in the way of entry or exit. You should get one of these delivered & use on the farm. what you see!!
JCB fantastic at making machines you don’t really need…..
Great machine all others are OVERPRICED BREAKDOWNS
Just wait until the backhoe kingpost starts leaking or the hydraulic pump blows up you'll be motherfuckering it in no time.
Ive replaced 3 pumps in one with less than 65 hours on it. They're shit even for a jcb.
