Tis is a great little series. Thank you for posting. It's unfortunate that you didn't discuss the directorial style of Star Wars or the musical influences that shaped the score. Both huge qualities that make the movies what they are. Or Kubric's 2001? Kubrick invented the visual language of Star Wars. There are great youtube videos with side by side comparions.
Metropolis is still a very enjoyable and contemporary story. If you have a chance to watch it I strongly recomend, specially if you really want to understand movies´ history.
Han Solo frozen in Carbonite similar to Buck Rogers frozen in 1929 story then called Anthony Rogers and Flash Gordon frozen by a villain with an ice gun in a 1939 story. Buck Rogers had Tiger man in story and Flash Gordon had Lion man and Star Wars had a similar Wookie.
I feel like this explains why the prequels were such big fuck ups. George didn't use all of these influences, and people calling him a genius got to his head. He thought he could just wing it and make another fantastic trilogy. I am a little disappointed at how similar the OT was to so many other films though
+Channel Blaino Only Quentin openly talks about his influences and they are immediately visible to movie lovers. Lucas has lived off his lies for decades.
Problem with your GOne with the Wind theory. WHen George Licas began writing Star Wars in 1974 he imagined it with two girls. Leia and Luke's twin sister. They were only combind do till hollywood poltics and finanical contrcts basically tje actors contracts were up after ROTJ and Lucas said lets stop here instead of going onto movie XV.
+Sw0rd Penc1l You have a good point there. The influences on the original trilogy were more cleverly borrowed, and some things were more subtle than others. The prequels took stuff from other films in a more obvious way and did it poortly.

If you notice the poster for Attack of the Clones resembles the poster for Doctor Zhivago

Exactly the info I was looking for. Thank you for your research!
There is also Dune.

3:15 I'm going to have to watch Metropolis now...
still waiting for the next chapter
No chapter 3?
2:15 Stargate seems to have also followed this in SG-1 Season 4 Episode 10 "Beneath The Surface"
Another one that I recently noticed is Paths of Glory and the battle of Hoth have some similarities as well.
Great production values!

Leah doesn't come off as a "spoiled princess".
She comes off as a feisty princess, like the woman in the Taming of the Shrew
8:31 have you noticed the red/orange lighting - Bespin carbon freezing room
Silent Running 1972 the robots were copied for Star Wars.
Where is chapter 3!? I want to know where he got the "force" idea from.
6:10 small similarity? more like big similarity
Third video when?
Could you upload the first part again? Or on Vimeo or something?
Why, he has it in his channel.
Abbadon Despoiler for some reason it's blocked for me
Ah 2013 when you could play copyrighted music on TH-cam for over a minute without fear of your video getting taken down
So i take it this seemed much more interesting when u started it

Simmularity... sorry
It's good but don't talk about prequels. Don't match them like they exist and count. No, it's bad
