    A cool thing is that this one were recorded in ABBA:s old studio and the piano that you hear in the studio recording is the one piano ABBA used when they recorded their albums.

    I love it when Ghost is described as the best example of the curtains not matching the drapes. They look like you're about to hear some heavy black metal, but then you get this groovy AF sound.

      I mean it's still got some crunch to it, just not over the top like black metal for those edgy kiddos.

    I like that Forge strategically picked stops on the tour for this album that were the same stops classic rock bands he likes played at. It meant loss of profit due to potentially smaller arena sizes, but the crowds were better because it would be a full house of dedicated fans versus a stadium half-filled with casual concert goers that are just not totally into it.

    Because Ghost is basically just the singer who writes this stuff, and then the hired musicians who play for the album, THEN the hired musicians who play it live, it's never as simple as the guitarist or the bass player or whatever getting their moment. It's just Tobias getting his way. But, live, the two current guitarists do play that dualing guitar part together, though the black guitarist they had before 2023 did not.

      I'm not so sure in the latest albums, but I know Tobias tracked a lot of the instruments in the other albums. I think he may have let someone else do the solo guitar work on imperium with them being a step up in difficulty. Who really knows though :)

    • @JetHarperJones
      @JetHarperJones 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      He plays the majority of the recorded music and writes all of it. People just like to try and knock genius off their pedestal. It is true that ghost is Tobias band but there’s a reason for that he like why would you want to divvy up everything when you’re the creative force behind the entire ready of not only an incredibly revolutionary music genres situation but also, there are a lot of messages that he is trying to get out there a lot of people that he connects to so people just want to think that he’s a jerk but he’s also incredibly intelligent and has mental health issues. It’s pretty obvious I think from most really amazing performers like it doesn’t matter what goes on behind the scenes what matters is that there is someone out there creating this music and yes, there have been issues with his bands before but most of that has gotten resolved and that’s why they’re at the point that they are now if you can’t sit back and say holy crap, this person created this entire story this entire situation that is ghost and has evolved and has created some thing that speaks to so many people. I think that it’s more of a need to find a problem with this people do it with Led Zeppelin people did it was Frank Zappa I’m not a big Led Zeppelin fan I think they’re overrated but that’s my opinion I would never take away the fact that they were a somewhat revolutionary band. We’re also living in an incredibly puritanical and capitalistic society, and the things that he puts out to people make people feel better and even as a 41 year old adult it makes me feel better. So when it comes to the music, it’s not a matter of who’s playing what it’s a matter of he also tried to remain anonymous, but it got harder and harder, especially when they started winning awards. You cannot assume that it’s just about what someone wants when you are not them or in their head don’t take away from people or influence others to think that this is just some selfish human being who wants everything done their way. Do you know what instruments you can play I do do you know what the messages behind this music or do you know the influence of his music are you aware that he covers Pet Shop Boys and ABBA and he is a human rights advocate like do you have any idea what goes into the production of what is basically musical theater?
      Even if this is just him getting his way with anything he’s getting his way in to some thing that is affecting music that is affecting people and if you want to think that he doesn’t allow people to do things well then those people can leave and they have and yes, there have been times where he is not treating people correctly but I’m sorry like there is a lot of intelligence in this person, and as an artist who is also mentally ill, who puts themselves into their art, and into their music, I am fully aware that there have been times where I want. Complete control of. Whatever it is I’m doing so until you’re in the situation until you were somebody who is making music that is affecting lives of so many people and there is a certain level of expectation that you have to live up to don’t. Assume that you know anything don’t assume that it’s just someone getting their way they have a good relationship or he has a good relationship from what I have read and from what I have seen with his band now and again, you just wanna crap on people because you just want to be the one naysayer because of how popular they are, I have never seen someone react to ghost and hate them

    • @JetHarperJones
      @JetHarperJones 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sorry I used talk to text so most of that didn’t make sense but basically shut up unless you’re in his situation you don’t know what goes into the massive amount of production and all of their live shows and also behind the scenes he’s an extremely talented musician and it’s not like this is a willy-nilly type thing. Also, as far as like the guitar solos go you know people can learn as they get older how to get better at music and considering this is his career and life and is all encompassing. There’s probably a very good chance that he has gotten better at guitar just a thought.

    So far, impera is Ghost most cohesive album sonically & thematically. I love how in the first 2 albums the lyrics are blatantly satanic but in the later releases they use it to explore much wider & complex topics. I think it shows tobias' growth as a songwriter. No matter what negative thing people want to say about him, no one can deny that he's a genius.

    So glad you enjoyed Spillways! Ghost has been a favorite band of mine since 2018. I have attended 5 shows, two just this year! They’re just as intoxicating, honestly more, live. The Creator of Ghost, Tobias Forge, truly is a man of the craft and loves his small details. Please check out their official live recordings of Mary On A Cross from their TH-cam, and Call Me Little Sunshine from the Kimmel Show! A band that can play live is worth their weight in gold in my book, and Ghost sits at the top of my list!

    The key changes between the verse and chorus is the secret sauce that makes this dish stand out. Like another music reactor said "they don't need to do that but it gives the song another dimension". This is Joe Elliott:s favorite and if you watch Ghost chapter 15 you can see him do a karaoke version of it. The cool thing is that it was Joe who contacted Tobias and wanted to release a new version with both of them singing. Try listen to that too. Why don't you watch the cover of Jesus he knows me from the latest album Phantomime. It is truly a blast 😂

    I’m loving this, when I first heard this track when I got the Impera album, I’d stuck it on in the background while I was working, I got to this track, about half way through just went, hold the fucking bus, this is fucking brilliant and listened to it on repeat for about 6 weeks. I’ve seen Ghost 3 times live now, they are so fucking good. Lots of metal fans complain that they’re too poppy, I don’t care, it’s brilliant and I love seeing someone get as excited about this song in particular as I was! When me and my buddies went to watch them on this tour I’d been banging on about how this was their best track and they’d definitely play it, to see it when the first performed it live! Been a fan since 2011. I remember my friend clued me into them and I would listen to their first album front to back in between college classes. 2012 I first saw them in a much smaller venue than they'd be able to play now. One of the best concerts I've gone to. Saw them again in 2019 or 2020, I forget which year, in a proper theater venue. Still amazing, but it's impossible to compare to the smaller floor show when they weren't as big. My favorite band that is still active, for sure. They keep doing amazing things.
