One of my favorite pieces from Uematsu. Hearing the first few bars, I was instantly transported to 1997 being 13 again sitting in my bedroom on the floor and playing through this game each weekend. I didn't have much money back then and would save up my lunch money each week so I could rent it each Friday from the video store to continue the story. Thank you for this. It was a much simpler time than adulthood.
Everyone seems to like One Winged Angel or Dancing Mad, but my heart is in pieces like this. The quieter, more intimate moments in these games are what truly shine.
Some people's favorite Final Fantasy songs are battle themes and One Winged Angel and Eyes on Me and stuff. But me, I always go for the village/town themes. Frontier Village Dali is another one of my favorites.
Mystic Mysidia, Torian Beauty, Town Theme of Final Fantasy 5, Kids Run Through the City Corner, Farmboy, Ahead On Our Way, Balamb Garden, Sleepless City Treno, Zanarkand… they ARE among my very favorites.
Such a mix of emotions with this song. My partner absolutely LOVED FFVII and told me how much I'd appreciate the music in it. I remember her playing this video for me as an example. For years and years and years, since I was a boy, I had known this is "Ahead On Our Way". I had to check and I realise now that I have been mistaken all this time. An exquisite performance, made all the more enjoyable by dressing up as Aeris. Even as a 34 year old, I still listen to the soundtrack, often when I visit childhood friends (makes excellent background music), so I look forward to your Final Fantasy VII album.

One of the ads that ran before the video for me was an episode of some new nbc show. And I do mean the entire 46 minute episode. Didn't skip the ad though. Worth it for this arrangement. 10/10 would endure that ad again.
This is probably the best piano recording of this song that I've heard. You really nailed the pacing and dynamics that I feel a lot of others struggle with on FFVII renditions.
I know you may not read this but just like Aerith, you are truly an unrecognized hero for this. I hope by now you are healthy especially during these dark times of the contagious virus but I know just like the characters from final fantasy, you will do nothing but fight on for what and who you love, such as your students. I would be proud to call you my teacher for being an example of true courage and having the will to fight on. Since the remake will be launched in "episodes", I think playing the remastered version is the best way to experience the complete story and atmosphere of the game. That way you will discover why there is so many of us in loved with FFVII, it's characters and it's music. I've been listening many pianists playing Uematsu's songs for years and your are definitely ONE OF THE BEST, and right now my favorite (I discovered your videos a couple of weeks ago). Congrats!

Hi Kara, your cover is really good, thank you. Regarding your question, currently, the original game looks a bit outdated, and the battles and other things can be a bit tedious but it is definitely the best way to play ff7. In the original, there are no voices, so there is always a piece of beautiful music on the background. Also, the complete remake game probably will take at least 5 years more to be released.

A sweet town theme like Kids running through the City in the last game. Soothing play. Your profile and cosplay here, just reminded me of something. Knew someone almost reminded me of Aerith, some reason, was nice lady, turned out to be a quite fantastical nerdgirl. Over and done, long and gone. But as a kid for the Gold Saucer date, I only got Aerith (which I found later was just because she starts with 50 date points and I never knew about buying the flower to give to Tifa, or helping up Tifa first, etc.). Well done playing one of my favorite songs from my all-time favorite game, AND composer! Uematsu would be proud. And I LOVE the piano collections! I had the album on CD and listened to it on my antiskip Sony Discman on repeat on a plane when I moved to a new state about 13 years ago. And this was a song I kept coming back to...Of course I loved the OST version as well, but this was an amazing arrangement! Such fond memories of Kalm and my first ever playthrough of the game...and that world map - just standing there so I could hear the main theme over and over again! Lol :)
