Love it when he asks "Why would you need earplugs?" Besides being one of the great players to come out of Texas, a state that's produced more than its share of great players, Bugs was never afraid to play LOUD. Damn, Bugs, we miss you.
I first heard of this guy in an interview with "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott from Pantera where he mentioned Bugs being one of the great guitar players from Texas.
I heard the connections loud and clear. I also found him from dimes interview. I'm not a blues dude nearly at all, just not my cup o tea really, but this was sick to see ideas that obviously influenced dime.
Saw Bugs back in the early 80's in a hole in the wall Wichita, KS bar called "The Spot". I was 17 years old and hoping I looked old enough to not get kicked out. What an honor to see Bugs in his prime.
I just left a post about seeing Mouse and the Traps in the 70's in a Dallas Bar called the Abbey Inn. I saw Bugs play so many times and this place was very small so you got to know all these guys when they went on break. Mouse/Ronnie Weiss, Bugs, Big Nardo/KenMurray, Dave, Stanley, etc were great guys let alone master musicians. Those times are great memories seeing these guys in their early prime.
"fancy space, world renowned female drummer of distinction on the percussion section" so says John Nitzinger as he introduced his band @ the MAR Y SOL concert in Puerto Rico in '72
Bugs and Linda seemed to have a real spiritual/musical connection. No matter where Bugs ventured in his playing, she was right there holding that groove. ❤❤❤
I’ve learned that Bugs was a big influence on a young Dimebag Darrell of Pantera fame. Dime said he used to stand in front of him and study his fret work. And if you know Dime, you can hear that influence quite clearly.
I have been told to go str8 to hell many times and when I ask for directions, those people can never give me the directions, even when looking it up on Google maps.
I remember him playing Denton, TX and I hanged outside to listen. He rocked near the "Language or English Bldg". What was the name of that little place near Fry St?
I was a big fan of Bugs. Until I saw him in concert back in the 90s. Freddy king was on the same venue. What turned me off him as a person, not his musicianship, was after his show I was lucky enough to be invites back to meet him. But he treated me like shit because he was so into trying to get Freddy Kings autograph himself. Often wonder how'd he had felt if Freddy King treated him the same way he did me ?
I know right? I guess as you get older your feet get cold haha. All the times my best friend (his road girlfriend) and I went to his gigs he always was barefoot on stage with toes right on the edge of the stage. I had so much fun traveling around with them and met so many greats. I remember hanging back stage at Armadillo HQ and Stevie was there. He sat in for a couple of songs with Bugs. This was when he was pretty much a newbie. He sat and rolled joints, didn't talk much, drank a lot of Jack Black, well they all did. Damn I miss those days. The 70's were an awesome time to be in the music world especially in Texas around Austin.
idk but Bugs was one of the first people i saw with a prs and id say 95% of the time i saw him was on prs. I know he played 335s and strats back in day. This LP like PRS is little different though, compared to the reg ones.
Bugs was a friend of mine from 1977 till he died. I miss him so!😢

@@666percentfishing Yeah I typically don't really like blues that much either, but this was cool nonetheless.
First saw him in Wichita, KS. He & the Shuffle kings brought the house down!!!
Saw Bugs a number of times, even ran lights for a show in the National Guard Armory of Newton, KS. He was the best!

Bugs was one of the guitarist I heard Dimebag mention about being a big influence. Texas axe slingers \m/
very tasteful, love that texas shuffle.
who could dislike this.. aliens??
Amazing!
They sound great! Who's the drummer? Is that Linda Waring from the original Nitzinger lineup?
Yep
@@louisfriedman6149 Ok, thought so. She's great! A legend.

That's no RED guitar!
Saw Bugs in Tyler one night, ask him where the red guitar was and he said his wife wouldn't let him play it anymore. LOL
Great rhythm section...the drummer makes me listen to him rather than Bugs...

Paul Reed Smith killed Buggs tone. The tone sucks compared to the Live At Last album. That tone is of the best ever made.
