Hi guys, I'm starting a new channel... so if you would like to show your appreciation for the time I spend editing and uploading these Countdown videos each week, I would ask you to do me a favor and subscribe to www.youtube.com/@SmarterHomesAndGardens which will be about home automation and things like that. YT has some policies about uploading videos longer than 10 minutes that require a certain number of subscribers, etc. Anyway, would appreciate your help in getting the new channel started. Thanks! (...and don't worry I'll keep uploading Countdown on this channel.)
Liv probably had 236 but read her working out wrong when she said to subtract the two she had made from the 125 she had made. She needed to multiply by 2 instead for 250 and then just subtract 14 (or 7x2). That is my theory anyway.
In the first numbers round, I saw both contestants' solutions and also had this one: 6 x 5 x 4 = 120 120 + 2 = 122 122 x 2 = 244 With so many small numbers, there weren't a lot of variations available. In the second numbers round, I spotted Rachel's 59 x 4, but also had these solutions: 75 + 50 = 125 125 - 7 = 118 118 x 2 = 236 3 - 1 = 2 75 x 2 = 150 150 - 7 = 143 143 x 2 = 286 286 - 50 = 236 75 x 3 = 225 7 - 2 = 5 50 / 5 = 10 225 + 10 + 1 = 236 In the third numbers round, I saw Rachel's 49 (8 x 6 + 1) x 18 (8 + 5 + 5) = 882, but that was the only possible solution. In the fourth numbers round, both contestants' solutions were obvious, but I also had some other less obvious solutions. 75 + 50 + 25 = 150 150 / 5 = 30 100 + 30 - 2 = 128 75 x 50 = 3750 100 x 5 = 500 3750 - 500 = 3250 3250 / 25 = 130 130 - 2 = 128 100 x 50 x 2 = 10000 10000 - 25 = 9975 9975 / 75 = 133 133 - 5 = 128
4+2..... OHH I MEAN 4x2.......... NEVER have I seen that allowed, but it was the first numbers round I guess they were being nice that day. I also say the +2 , x2 method.
6 × 4 × 2 × 5 + 2 + 1 = -1 (aw, miss it by a hair) 75 × 3 + (7 - 1) × 2 = +1 (and it whizzes by the other side) Missed this one completely, I'm afraid. 100 + 25 + 5 - 2 = 0 (don't wanna get too cute with it)
1. (2x5x6+1)x4=244 or (4x5x6+2)x2=244 2. (50+75-7)x2=236 or (50-3)x(7-2)+1=236 3. Max is 1 away: (6x8+1)x(5+5+8)=49x18=882 4. 100+50/2+75/25=128 or (75-50+2+5)x100/25=128 or 75-5-(100+50)/25=64x2=128 5. ADMIRABLE

I'm grateful for being able to watch these, but I miss the after match goodbyes...😢
You just knew that David was going to go for the 50+75 in the last round.
Liv probably had 236 but read her working out wrong when she said to subtract the two she had made from the 125 she had made. She needed to multiply by 2 instead for 250 and then just subtract 14 (or 7x2). That is my theory anyway.
Or subtract the 7 before multiplying by 2 (or 3-1).
236:
75 + 50 - 7 =118
118 * 2 =236
50 + 7 + 2 =59
3 + 1 =4
59 * 4 =236
75 * 7 =525
525 - 50 - 3 =472
472 / 2 =236
128:
100 + 25 + 5 - 2 =128
100 + 50 =150
150 / 25 =6
75 - 6 - 5 =64
64 * 2 =128
75 + 5 + 2 - 50 =32
32 * 100 / 25 =128
In the first numbers round, I saw both contestants' solutions and also had this one:
6 x 5 x 4 = 120
120 + 2 = 122
122 x 2 = 244
With so many small numbers, there weren't a lot of variations available.
In the second numbers round, I spotted Rachel's 59 x 4, but also had these solutions:
75 + 50 = 125
125 - 7 = 118
118 x 2 = 236
3 - 1 = 2
75 x 2 = 150
150 - 7 = 143
143 x 2 = 286
286 - 50 = 236
75 x 3 = 225
7 - 2 = 5
50 / 5 = 10
225 + 10 + 1 = 236
In the third numbers round, I saw Rachel's 49 (8 x 6 + 1) x 18 (8 + 5 + 5) = 882, but that was the only possible solution.
In the fourth numbers round, both contestants' solutions were obvious, but I also had some other less obvious solutions.
75 + 50 + 25 = 150
150 / 5 = 30
100 + 30 - 2 = 128
75 x 50 = 3750
100 x 5 = 500
3750 - 500 = 3250
3250 / 25 = 130
130 - 2 = 128
100 x 50 x 2 = 10000
10000 - 25 = 9975
9975 / 75 = 133
133 - 5 = 128
4+2..... OHH I MEAN 4x2.......... NEVER have I seen that allowed, but it was the first numbers round I guess they were being nice that day.
I also say the +2 , x2 method.
236=(75-1)x3+(7x2)
Same
50+75=125x2=250 3-1=2x7=14 250-14=236
Oh 236 was way easier than that, if you say 50-3=47, then 7-2=5, multiply them together for 235 and add the 1
easier still (50+75-7)*2
that’s harder
2X5 = 10X6 = 60+1 = 61X4 = 644
6X5 = 30X4 = 120+2 = 122X2 = 244
7+1 = 8X50 = 400+75 = 475-3 = 472÷2 = 236
50+7+2 = 59 3+1 = 4X59 = 236
8X6 = 48+1 = 49 8+5+5 = 18X49 = 882 (Closest Below)
6X5 = 30-8 = 22X8 = 176+1 = 177X5 = 885 (Closest Above)
100+50 = 150÷25 = 6 75-5 = 70-6 = 64X2 = 128
100÷25 = 4 75+5 = 80-50 = 30+2 = 32X4 = 128
244=4×(2×5×6+1)
75 - 7 x 2 = 61 + 1 = 62 x 3 and then add 50
I’m confused, where’s the 49 in round 3
59, not 49.
@@dmontes133 no, it's 49
18*49 = (5+5+8)[(8*6)+1]
((6*8)+1)*(8+5+5)
@@lai178x6 + 1
100 + 25 + 5 then - 2 = 128
100+50=150, /25=6, +5 =11; 75-11=64, *2=128
6 × 4 × 2 × 5 + 2 + 1 = -1 (aw, miss it by a hair)
75 × 3 + (7 - 1) × 2 = +1 (and it whizzes by the other side)
Missed this one completely, I'm afraid.
100 + 25 + 5 - 2 = 0 (don't wanna get too cute with it)
For 236:
(50 + 75) × 2 = 250
7 × (3 - 1) = 14
250 - 14 = *_236_*
Yeah, she was so close but then subtracted the two instead of multiplying.
How to get 244?
244 = 4×(2×5×6+1)
1. (2x5x6+1)x4=244 or (4x5x6+2)x2=244
2. (50+75-7)x2=236 or (50-3)x(7-2)+1=236
3. Max is 1 away: (6x8+1)x(5+5+8)=49x18=882
4. 100+50/2+75/25=128 or (75-50+2+5)x100/25=128 or 75-5-(100+50)/25=64x2=128

The girl is cute. I don't care about the numbers.
