Often, the 5th-6th gear bearings are a bit higher, and mechanics recommend 3-4 liters instead of 2.7l. I know that the housing says not to overfill, but it doesn't harm anything, and the service life of the gearbox increases
@@brianclulow7283 it might make it a little quieter but it's more than likely the bearings. A really common problem with these gearboxes. Even if an oil change doesn't quieten it down it might make it last a little longer. My old work van had the same issue and I drove around for 60k miles with 5th and 6th whining and it never failed
It should be but quite often they've been broken or have fallen off. If you can't see it, there should be a little metal pipe sticking out the top of the gearbox

The tool is the same for engine oil drain. I think its call 8mm square bit
I've got a slight whine in 5th and 6th will a gear box oil change help has I've never changed it
