This feature is so easy to use. Just turn the headlights switch to AUTO position. When the car get in to dark area, the headlights go on automatically and when the car expose to bright light, the headlights go off automatically.
If we park the car in the dark, after turning of the engine the headlights will still be on until we exit the car and close the driver's door the lights then go off like this.
However, the default setting from the factory is after we close the driver's door, the car will wait for 15 seconds before turning off the headlights. We can change this delay to be immediate, 15, 30 or 60 seconds.
There’re 2 settings relevant to this feature. One is time delay after closing the driver’s door. Another is sensitivity to surrounding light.
To modify the settings, you need to park the car and put the gear to P position then navigate through the menu as shown here.
Here we can select after we turning the engine off, exit the car and closing the driver's door, how long we want the car to wait before turning off the headlights. If you want it to turn the headlights off as soon as the driver's door is closed, then select 0 second.
Another setting is sensitivity to surrounding light. If you set it to Max. The headlights will go on easily eventhough the sky may just turn cloudy doesn't get dark yet. If you want the car to turn on the headlights only when the surrounding light getting quite dark, then you should select the setting toward Min.

This is really helpful. Is there a way for us to automatically close the side mirrors when we lock the car, and automatically open side mirrrors when we unlock car?

will it still consume battery on auto? even when you turn off the engine?
No, it consumes the battery only while the lamp is still lit
I have a honda civic 2017 i have the auto light but when star getting dark the light get dim there are not bright also the start button get dim is there a way to fix it thank you

Where is the switch of this light at back of the sit when I off the battery of the car this light is still on I forgot or I don't know where is the switch
Do you mean the lamp on the ceiling? If yes, the switch is placed right next to the lamp. By the way, when turning the engine off, the light remains on for a few seconds before dimming and goes off.

Turn the parking break on before you turn the car on and the daytime running lights won’t turn on until you turn the parking break off.

The new model may have different menu structure and wordings. The Civic I use is Thailand version. It may have different features.

My auto on and off feature stop working, it'll stay on all the time despite it being sunny outside
How about trying a few things? For example, re-initial the system, adjust the sensitivity setting, toggle light switch on off several times, check the sensor and the condition of the windshield in front of the sensor, check the electric wire that comes out from the roof to the sensor etc. The sensor would located nearby the middle of the windshield either on the top or the bottom. Otherwise, let the service center check it for you.
@@BlackPantherCivic yeah I checked the windshield to see if anything was blocking it but I couldn't find anything, I still wiped clean tho, then I turn the toggle off and on multiple times but nothing helped, I also try low medium and high sensitivity and still same thing, I can't figure out what's causing this, I contacted honda dealer but they said that they can't fix it because it's an aftermarket headlights, I should have mentioned it's the morimoto xb led headlights
I see. Hmmm... I suspect that it’s a connectivity issue. Another point is the sensor itself might failed so it can’t read how bright it is outside but I think this is unlikely. As I search for information on the web, it seems a few people have problem with this lamp.
@@BlackPantherCivic yeah I also think it's a connection problem but I can't figure it what is wrong because everything else on the morimoto headlights works as it should, and if I alter the connection then the turn signals won't work

I have 2019 civic lx and I have the radio as you but I dont have auto light sensitivity option. Can I upgrade to it or not?

@@m.m1048 you both do, it's a glitch or software malfunction but the auto headlights will work intermittently & disappear & reappear in the lighting options. It'll go from 2 options to 3 or however many other options you have beside auto sensitivity. It's really quite annoying
Some settings will appear only when the gear is in “P” position. Not sure if this is the case.
@@BlackPantherCivic I have a 6 speed manual on my 2015 accord sport, the auto headlights feature works randomly & I'm not sure what I've done when it works. I know that in my settings in my light settings that the option for headlight sensitivity will disappear & reappear randomly when it's gone the auto won't work. I've tried everything to engage it or activate it and nothing works. It's crazy I just wanna leave headlights in auto position & not worry but it won't let me lol
Yeah, could be a software glitch as you mentioned.
Mercedes got this feature in 2001
Honda had this too in 1996, just showing how to do it with this new model...
