    This is literally my favorite video game music track ever.
    I've actually done a musical analysis on it before for a university class.

      That's amazing! I would have loved to see that! When I think of final boss music or just boss music in general, this is one of the first ones I think of still to this day fifteen close to sixteen years later after beating it.

    The drums are definitely that point where it becomes clear that Ashera is not an evil sorcerer but a wrathful god

    Awesome analysis. A big reason I love the Radiant Dawn soundtrack the most among FE is how little the compositions rely on repetition in favor of movement: whether it be the constant change in melody, instrumentation, rhythm, etc., they always feel very dynamic. As a result, imo individual RD songs feel like they tell a story rather than capture a specific moment, much like you've illustrated with A Grasping Truth in this analysis.
    There's a bunch of other reasons I could list too, but that's the one that's most relevant to this analysis anyway. Again, great vid!

    Great video, one minor mistake.
    Altina waa giving the 2 swords to defeat Yune. After Yune's defeat, Ashera wanted to kill Yune. However, Lehran, Degnisea, Soan, and Altina convinced her to not destroy Yune. But lock Yune in the medallion. Ashera agrees, with the condition that if Ashera is woken up in the next 1.000 years, she will end the whole world. The dragon king Deghnisea and Lehran agreed and tried to have peace for the next 1.000 years.

    This has been my favorite boss music since I played the game when it first launched, so seeing someone say this all these years later makes me happy! It's such a perfect piece! Radiant Dawn has such an amazing ost! It's still my favorite in the series to this day!

    Considering this song doesn't get brought up much relative to the modern final map themes since Awakening I didn't knlw what to expect when I played RD earlier this year.
    While I still like Apex of the World more, A Grasping Truth is definitely up there.

      Oh you just played Radiant Dawn this year? What did you think? I bought the game back when it launched in 2007 at Circuit City. I'm one of the og Fire Emblem fans, so I'm very curious to hear what people think about Radiant Dawn and Path of Radiance with them being my introduction to the series and still my favorites in the series.

      @@GuardianAngelEatos Oh, I loved it. Top three for me with SoV and 3H. Path of Radiance isn't far behind either.
      While neither game seems to excel at any one area, they are both just so solid all around that I still really love them.

    • @GuardianAngelEatos

      @@hansgretl1787 Wonderful! I'm glad you loved it. What is SoV? Sorry I don't do well with acronyms. I don't know most of them nor do they click. I have to think long and hard about what they might be.
      I feel the same. I really miss the classic Fire Emblem feel before Awakening changed everything. I miss shove and the rescue mechanic. The cast for the Tellius ones are probably still my favorite to date which is a big part of it, but the music for Radiant Dawn is just so, well Radiant, and it actually has some very hard chapters in it, especially part 3. I'm sure you know what which ones I'm referring to. I miss when you had to think long and hard and actually plan your moves. All of the Fire Emblem games after Radiant Dawn have been mostly braindead easy, especially Awakening. Fates Conquest on hard was actually challenging on some chapters though! That surprised me!

      @@GuardianAngelEatos SoV = Shadows of Valentia
      I'm not sure I agree with the difficulty thing, Path of Radiance is WAY easier than any modern game for example.

    • @GuardianAngelEatos
      @GuardianAngelEatos ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hansgretl1787 Ah got it. I liked the combat for the Gaiden remake, but the story is too short.
      Really? You think Path of Radiance is easier than modern games? I heavily disagree there. Awakening is far easier as is multiple other modern games that I have played such as Persona 5 Royal, the most brain dead game that I have ever played, even more so then Awakening which is something that I didn't think I would ever say. You played on hard? Why do you think it's so easy? Sure it's not hard, but I wouldn't go so far to say it's easy on hard mode and definitely not easier than modern games. Games are only getting easier. All of my favorite series have been infected with the add broken mechanics to be flashy and get casuals into the series syndrome.

    Thank you very much for covering this. This has been one of my favorite tracks my whole life and no one ever covers it. These composers haven’t composed anything since this game either.

    Finally, someone who appreciates the soundtrack as much as I do. FE music is amazing, but I honestly believe that Radiant Dawn has the best soundtrack in the entire series. Easily the best instrumentation of any film or game score I’ve ever heard. The only other FE that comes close is Fates.

    gorgeous & thorough, passionate & expert examination of a perfect song. thank you for giving me an even deeper appreciation for it than I already had. I actually, in real life, no irony or exaggeration, got kind of choked up by the end bc I love these games so much and the love you feel for them too is so clear. I'd love to hear more just like this if you have more to say.

    I find it a bit strange that at the start of the video you make such a point of emphasizing that with every player playing at their own pace, the same parts of the music don't always line up with the same events in the game, and then later you tell the whole process of the final battle like every part of the music was made for that section of the battle and is telling a gradually progressing story. The song will probably loop by the time you've taken down the barriers. I thought it was a pretty weak part of the video tbh, but i did like the start and end.

    • @ElutPesto
      @ElutPesto  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The whole point of making the video the way I did was to show the progression of the song through checkpoints in the fight literally BECAUSE it will loop in real time playing the game and you wont get to experience it in that way. That was the entire premise
