Opening theme for Evangelion, huge anime in Japan and overseas. The song was a hit when it was released as a single by vocalist Yoko Takahashi. All sorts of artists/bands have covered this song. Great time-keeping by Tamu here. What I like about these jazz-fusion sessions is how they really stretch out on their solos. As for their chat, they both say they enjoyed the musical conversation they had and say let's do it again. The bassist has often performed with Tamu over the past several years, and he praises her playing at this gig, saying she has really grown as a drummer over those years.
Amazing "conversation" between Bass and Drums! Let me know your thoughts. Don't forget to Like and Subscribe! Check out the NEW Amazon links in the description!
DAMN.... both of them are EXCEPTIONAL. I knew Tamu was, she's a top tier session player with a background in jazz fusion... bassist is so awesome too... my favorite "trading fours" section I've seen in a long time.
I don't know how many times I've seen this video so far, but I could listen to it on continuous loop for hours. Thanks for confirming my suspicion that the solo sections of the song were probably longer and a lot more improvised than originally intended. I mean, you can clearly read it in their faces and behavior, but as a non-musician I'm somehow always unsure about such things and indicators like the head nod I hardly notice. What else can be said about this. Exceptional musicians with great chemistry among one another. EDIT 1 day later: As luck would have it, there's already another video of this performance on the Channel, and it's no other Song than 'Kurenai' by X-Japan, which they cover this time. I'm guessing Tamu's #1 workout song. 🤭🤘🏻 _____________________ 「 _Look inside the mirror of you. Can you say now is the best of who you are?_ 」--- *Nemophila* 'RISE' 💮
The group is by Daisuke Kurosawa, lead guitar. His YT channel has some amazing videos, X Japan covers are especially good. I believe the musicians are primary session players as Tamu was before Nemophila. Interested in more from this channel??
Checked with my translation program - Cruel Angel Thesis - the translator is DeepL Translate. So is Tamu moonlighting with Daisuke Kurosawa or with Nemophila?? This is from 2022!!! Japan apparently has guys that are really good on Bass!!!
It's from the Anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, think it's called something like cruel angels thesis. I have never watched the Anime personally but I feel this is a theme you know regardless. Great version here.
