I've used another method to do the same sort of thing by using my Android tablet. I bought 2 magnetic car vent mounts, stuck the 2 metal disks to the back of the tablet and ran a USB cable inside my centre console to the 12v charge point. Tablet is mounted just above the radio head unit in the centre, just where you would have it in a moderm car; I have a 2010 Ford Focus. Tablet is w-fi only, so i share my phone's data as a wireless hotspot to the tablet. Tablet connects via Bluetooth to the head unit. Volume controls on the steering wheel of course can still control volume, and the tablet can take calls from the phone and use the hands free in the car, navigate and play either pre-downloaded music on the tablet, or use BBC sounds etc. to play live radio. If I didn't have a good tablet, then the Carpuride system does sound like a great system for older cars, suprised you didn't connect it up using Bluetooth as well, Gary.

I was looking at the new Fisker Ocean until I found out that Fisker vehicles do not have Apple Car Play and no plans to add it in the future, which was one reason for not buying that car amongst others. This device maybe a useful tool for Fisker owners. 👍

Did you actually use the navigation at all, Gary ? I’ve spent a small fortune on various versions of CarLinkit over the last few years and have stopped using them - the navigation runs a few seconds slow, so you’ve hit a junction or roundabout, a few seconds before the wireless CarPlay adapter gets to it. Complete waste of time, and maybe a bit dangerous on a roundabout ! The cheaper Carpuride H01 looks like all that I would need, as car already has wired CP - but I’m not going throw away another 120 quid on a slow motion nav system. I’ll just keep plugging in until I’m lucky enough to change to a car that already has wireless AA/CP !

No issues with lag like that - though I haven’t seen that with the CarPlay adaptor I reviewed previously either

Does it let you configure the CarPlay menu to the right, as would be usual for RHD cars?

Who cares ! I certainly don’t let myself be welded to the damn phone - I’ll reply when (and if) I’m ready. Things are rarely as urgent as people make out.
