  • The Missouri River meets the Mississippi River in St Charles County, Missouri. There is no doubt that 2019 has been a high water year. On June 5 and 6, 2019 we got as close to our parks as we could. This flooding is affecting the whole state, but this is to document what we are seeing in our area. In this video your will see Flood 2019 and the Missouri River levels along the Katy Trail in St Charles Missouri as well as the flooding from the levee breach earlier this year near Lakeside 370 Park.

    Thumbs up! Lots of flooding! Oh I’m surprised the Katy Trail is still accessible. Oh ok. Yeah I was expecting that pavilion to be flooded. Very close to the high water mark of 1993. Thanks for sharing!

      It is serious flooding. We had a levy break in our county. Took out many farms and fields as well as our county park.

    Wow, so impressive how much water came in! Avoiding building on former river beds help prevent this. Glad it is only parks there. Thank you for sharing news on this natural disaster Kay and Matt.

    We saw many areas like this on return through Missouri! Even one spot that we would have sworn was a lake if we hadn’t noticed the parking signs indicating that it was a submerged parking lot. The sight made us very sad along with all the fields and crops that are ruined now. It makes me angry that people in Kansas are complaining about them holding water in our lakes. They don’t care that it’s going to add to the flooding there.😕

    • @HappyTrailsHiking
      @HappyTrailsHiking  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't believe that people would be complaining over NOT flooding out farms and fields. I guess maybe they just REALLY don't understand.

  • @thatwench

    the 'mighty mo' is just as bad in south dakota, still. we've got water in places there hasn't been water in generations. if you're as behind in planting crops there as we are here, lots of folks will be awfully mad about the food prices this fall.

    • @HappyTrailsHiking
      @HappyTrailsHiking  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The crops will be very delayed if they happen at all. Farmers will be hurting

      It truly is, Yankee. When the Missouri River Levee breached, we knew there would be big problems. I don't know if/when the farmers will get anything planted around here.
