The up side with signing u23 players is massive, it’s a viable source of talent for the XI and money for the balance books. It’s how we make this club sustainable from even Roman times with his loan army. Life can’t be roses and daisies we need to keep signing to sell. Be thankful we are selling those who are mid and not our top talents like a Brighton or Dortmund or Leipzig would.
Lol Niinii said if we kept the players maybe we could’ve gotten CL. We came 12th with them for a reason and it wasn’t only down to squad size. Fitness and good performances from those players were close to impossible. Let’s not try rewrite history. We needed that clear out
We had a squad size of 30+ man, 30+, the point was we under minded our ability to compete by forcing wholesale changes over night when we weren’t ready too No coach can make sense of working with a squad of that size , those things were close to impossible because training sessions could never be optimised There’s tonnes of details to a lot of things you missing out on
@ I acknowledge squad size had an influence but it wasn’t the only issue. The players you wanted us to keep couldn’t stay fit and were on an obvious decline. The clear out was needed and of course there was pain after but it was expected and we came 6th five points from ucl. Those 5 points short are on Poch not the clear out.
I’m sorry this is the premier league, every team from Liverpool to Southampton won’t have control of a game for all 90 minutes. The key isn’t imagining there’s a signing that there’s a signing that can give us more control, that’s impossible. We just need to be better at weathering the storm and that comes with experience and time as a team
