They made them for more than two years Aftermarket parts wake the motor up, and let it rev. The bike's look was put together in northumberland, the build was Enfield's idea who outsourced the frame design as well. The original donor engine was also designed in England. Last pushrod motor.

This is a wonderful bike. I own a 2017 one with abs. Always makes me happy. The vibrations are really not that bad and I find them quite enjoyable! A reminder that you ride an old school classic alive machine.
The bike you reviewed has aftermarket shocks, those aren't the origins paioli shocks. As well as the front and back indicators, mirrors.

It's an amazing motorcycle. One of the very few I wish I actually had in my garage (limited space & funds). I wish they would make this bike again. Sorry for the very slow response was in Hospital for 9 days, darn deer. Home now. Wahoo!

@@forgottenmotorcycles Glad to hear you are okay! Love your energy man.
I doubt they will make anything similar to it ever again as most consumers prefer the twin cylinders, better performance machines (GT650).
The old school single cylinder UCE engine has history and true heritage behind it. Pure charm and delight to ride!
Btw the last version in the last production year 2017 also has ABS

@@yardenl1998 that really is unfortunate, isn't it. Those 535 have got a strong Colt following. If I had when I would never sell it. Beautiful motorcycle.

@@forgottenmotorcycles Well that depends! If you'll be fortunate enough to get one recently while they are sort of old new like a 2010 Porsche you could still find some in great condition and at a fantastic price, good luck on the hunt!

This was a really nice bike. Indeed the crankshaft was lighter on this. I was told that they used the crankshaft from the 350 on this which explains why it is so willing to rev up.
I was there at the expo when it was showcased in India. I saw the prototype with Ohlins suspension, clip-on bars below the top yoke and a steering damper.

Hello there. My name is Jose. I am from Quito, Ecuador and just about a month or so, I purchased a Royal Enfield Continental GT 535. I totally share your opinions regarding this bike. Just one thing where I differ with you about this machine is that you have be able to put 4500 RPM to the bike and according tou you it shakes...jajajaja. Well, I have not been able to do such a thing. over 3500 RPM the thing shakes and vibrates like if it was going to fall apart...maybe is an issue regarding the altitude, here I am at 2850 meters above sea level and the amount of oxygen available is quite limited, so I believe that may be a factos which does not allow me to put more RPM`s to the bike...
Now, the bike is a beauty to ride and to watch. it is comfortable, it is very nimble and at a top RPM of 3000 and 100 km/h on the road, it is a fantastic ride. This will be my last bike because i ain`t changing it.
    Best regards

Thanks for the funky video - lovely looking bike, which leads me to ask: how good/bad of an idea is it to get this as a first motorcycle (i.e., to learn to ride on)?
Found a similar spec one - green with tan saddle really caught my eye - for about $4k with 11'500 kms on the clock, and am struggling to find reasons not to go for it...
    Thanks in advance!

Okay, my opinion....Buy this bike. It is a little quirky but in all the right ways. That 535 has so much low end torque and a great clutch that it would be a snap to learn on. Only issue would be if you're comfortable with the riding position. Great bike!
