Some HP printer software does not give you the option to continue printing. However, you can get around this by doing the following: a] Remove the paper (important) b) Replace the refilled cartridges c) The printer will attempt to print a test page but because there is no paper it will flash the error light (next to the paper symbol on the printer panel) d) Wait until the light has stopped flashing then press the power button on the printer and hold it down then press the cancel button for a few seconds e) Reload your paper and your printer is ready to print. Note: You won't get any indication of how much ink is in the cartridges, so as previously suggested keep an eye on the print quality. I use this on a Deskjet 2630 and it works every time. Hope this helps.
If you you want to get the ink level you can try (works on my HP Deskjet 3630) taking both cartridges out of the printer, then turning off the printer, waiting 20 seconds, then turning it on - then repeat at least 6 times. The idea is that the printer only stores data for the last 5 cartridges so thinks it’s a new cartridge.

Hello there and a good day to you. Please how do I econfirm on my PC screen the use of empty ink Cartridge level. I think that is the only thing I haven't done yet for the process to be completed Thanks for your quick response 👍
If the message pops up on Your PCs´screen depends on the printer model and its firmware version. When You are able to send a print job to the printer and it starts printing then You do not have / need to confirm the use of the cartridge with an additional message.
Thanks for Your question. Please tell us a bit more specific what not recognizing the cartridge means in Your case? Can You start a print job and the printer does start printing? Does the printer gives the message that no cartridge is installed? Thanks for Your help!
Thanks for contacting us about our tutorial and for Your question. The weak point of these small inkjet cartridges with integrated print head is their inner sponge - over the time it looses its capability to hold the inks properly. The sponge dries in slowly over the time - the slow this process down we recommend to fill up these cartridges continously: That means fill up small amounts of ink idenpendent if the print out are already missing colors or not. This keeps the inner sponge / sponges moist and prevents them from getting hard by drying out. This is a good way to expand the cartridges´ life span.
Do you mean by reset the ink cartridge getting back a full ink level status? That´s not possible. The ink level status will remain on empty after filling up the cartridge with refill ink but the printer allows You to start print jobs.
Hello, Many thanks for the video, it is wonderful. I have a question that is: when I refilled the cartridge and leaft it 2 hours, the printer still gave me that the cartridge is empty in cosideration it is full of ink. What I have to do in this case? Thank you in advanced.
Thanks for Your feedback and Your question. Despite filling the cartridge up with refill ink the ink level shown for this cartridge remains on empty - You can keep on printing with this cartridge but please keep an eye on Your print outs. As soon as there are lines missing or a color is fading out fill up ink again.
Hello, I put black color in one ink and 3 coulours in the other ink, but I tried to print in color, but only had a mostly red colour rendering, no black or no other colours, maybe a bit yelowish but mostly red, do you know why ?
Hello Beatrice, thanks for Your question. from Yourdescription we assume that You have refilled the black cartridge and the three color cartridge too, right? In case after filling up ink this refilled ink does not appear on the paper when printing there are several reasons: the refilled ink cannot reach the nozzles when air is trapped in the sponge between the new ink and the print head area. Try filling in more ink until the ink starts dripping from the nozzles - remove some of the excess ink by pulling it back into the syringe. Another reason could be that the nozzles are dried in - Can You see the black ink or the three color when pressing the print head on a piece of kitchen paper?
@@octopusoffice Hi, yes I refilled the cartridges one with black, the other with the 3 colours. The black cartridge seems to work, because I have already printed some sentences in black and it worked. As for the cartridge with the 3 coulours, you must be right, I probably put more magenta then cyan or yellow, so I will refill with these 2 coulours until it starts to make bubbles from the nozzles. @@beatricebebe6737 Thanks for Your detailed reply and the nice feedback! Please make sure that the cartridge is not dripping ink from its nozzles after filling up ink and setting it back into the printer.
Hello, thanks for the question. Yes, you can refill a HP 302 cartridge several times - more than once - the situation remains the same with each refill: there is no ink level shown for the refilled cartridge. The weak spots of these cartridges are their chips and the sponges inside for storing the ink. If the chip is damaged You cannot refill the cartridge again as it will not be recognized by the printer. If the the sponge is dried You cannot refill the cartridge anymore as the refill ink is not hold properly by the sponge anymore.
Hello, thanks fpr contacting us. Ink made for beeing used in pens is not going to work for a printer cartridge - it contains different ingredients than a waterbased printer ink.

Hello Michelle (You appear as Michelle with this comment too), what means not pciking up the cartridge in detail? Does the printer not recognize the cartridge when setting it back into the printer after the refill? Or can You start a print job, the printer starts printing but no ink appears on the paper? Thanks for Your help!
@@octopusoffice Ah, never mind, I'll stay as Michelle :-D Sorry, what I meant is black is not printing. I've restarted computer, unplugged printer and plugged in again but still no luck. I realise you may not be able to help with this. It's odd that the colour cartridge (3 colours in one) works but the black doesn't. If you can't help I'll look elswhere. But thanks so far.
Hello stay as Michelle 😉 when the printer does not recognize the refilled cartridge it points into the direction that the chip on the cartridge might be defective. They are quite sensitive and can get damaged really easy. In that case You need to invest in a new original cartridge and then try again using this new one for refilling. Please try avoiding to touch the cartridge´s chip or inflict any other contacts to the chip.
Hello Sherin, if You fill too much ink either pull out the excess ink using syringe and needle from the air ports on the upper side. You also can place the overfilled cartridge on an absorbent underlay and let that underlay absorb the excess ink. At the color cartridge it is importatnt to be extra careful to avoid that the wrong color gets into the wrong color compartment - in such a case it is almost impossible to make that cartridge work again properly.
How many pages on average can you print with this amount of ink? would guess its like the 200 for the normal cartridge version or the 450ish for the xl version?
The page yield stated by HP for the black standard cartridge is around 200 pages and the yield for the black XL version is 400 approximately - always depends on how many coverage You put on a page. The yield for the colotr standard cartrisge is 165 pages and the XL color page yield according to HP is 330 pages. But we stick to not to hold too close to these numbers.
@@octopusoffice thanks, yeah it's like battery runtimes etc, strongly dependent on what you are doing. Just another question, how many ml of ink would you recommend for the xl version?
@@TheSunriseAnimation The black XL HP 302 holds 8,5 ml when it comes from the factory and the color HP 302 XL has around 2,5 ml to 3 ml ink per color when it is new. As there always remains some ink inside the sponge You will not be able to fill these amounts of ink into the cartridge when it is shown empty by Your printer. You should fill as much ink as the sponge can keep properly . So how to determine this amount? Just fill ink until the cartridge starts dripping from the print heads nozzles, the extract so much ink until it stops dripping. Then You know that there is sufficient ink available for printing.
Hallo! First refill(black) was success. Second refill of both(black, colour) is error.Colour Printings are only pink and black with lines:-(( please give me a tip about what is wrong! Thanks..
Hello Leyla, thanks for Your question. Do You mean by error that You receive an error message for the black cartridge? From Your description of the printing results we assume that there is air remaining in the cartridge´s sponge. You can get rid off this air by overfilling the cartridge intentionally - fill more ink into each color then necessary - then the ink starts to drip from the cartridge´s nozzle plate. Remove some of that ink again until the cartidge stops dripping by pulling it back into the syringe. The additional ink should push out the air from the sponge. After that the prints should get better - You can repeat that procedure several times to get better prints.
I think I inserted the needle a bit farther than I should have. How can I figure out if I damaged it or not? Yes, it does not work after refilling but I might have done another mistake as well. I want to be sure. Thanks.
We need to clarify what so You mean by it does not work? Are You able to start a print job and Your printer starts printing but no ink appears on the paper?
Thank you for your reply. The printer starts normally. The first page after the refillment comes very well. From the second page on the ink ceases to come properly. The scripts fade and they are discrete
Thank You very much for the explanation. What kind of refill ink are You using in the cartridges? One possible reason could be that the ink in the sponge cannot moved towards the print head section properly if the inks characteristics do not meet the cartridge´s requirements. Is it some kind of multipupose ink or dedicated to HP 302 cartridges?
Hello Nikola, thanks for Your question. From Your description we assume that there is still air trapped between the old ink and the new refilled ink. This leads to the situation that some prints are possible but then the flow of ink is not sufficient any more. In that case we recommend to overfill the cartridge by purpose - this is a good way to get rid of the air pockets. Fill ink until the cartridge starts dripping from nozzles and remove some ink again until the dripping stops.
i have printer hp envy 4527 work with ink 302 but this ink number not available in my country only 123 is available can i use it or no . if i can't, do you have any way to solve this problem

The worst that can happen is that You would have tbuy new cartridges - the printer itself will not be damaged.
Thanks for Your question. We recommend to put the stickers back on as the cartridge works more reliable physically with the sticker on. The sticker also slows down the process of ink drying out by the bigger opening in the cartridge´s cover. When putting back the sticker please pay attention that the ends of the small air channels are not fully covered by the sticker. These channels make sure that air is able to go into the cartridge and no negative pressure is build up inside.

Hello Joseph, thanks for the New Year wishes - the same goes out to You from us. These little cartridges with spong and integrated print head are really sensitive towards drying out - it does not need much time and the sponges harden. Then their physics do not work anymore for storing the inks inside the cartridge.
Thank You very much for Your feedback. We usually set up our instructions for cartridges bought after initializing the printer with the setup cartridges. In most of the cases the setup cartridges behave differently than the regular cartridges.
The set up cartridges are the original cartridges that come together with the printer. These cartridges might behave differently when refilled in comparsion to original cartridges that have been bought after using up the setup cartridges. Can You start a print job with Your refilled cartridges?
Hello, thanks for Your thoughtful remark. Some users did damage the print head section by pushing the needle to deep into the sponge into the direction of the print head. So we tried to find a balance between getting the ink into the cartridge and saving the sensitive print head part - letting the cartridge sit after bringing in the ink by pushing not so deep into the sponge also let´s the ink settle down in the sponge. It takes more time of course. When following Your way it can by done by pshing the needle towards the rear section of the cartridge´s base plate - then You avoid the sensitive print head section.

Well the black worked fine and the printer printed it's test page with the black ink just fine, only the color cartridge didn't work at all !!!... what must have happened is by time I had managed to fill all 3 color inks in that cartridge it must have then dried out !.... So I have now given in and just ordered another correct 301 tri color cartridge off eBay :-)
Hello Joseph, thanks for the New Year wishes - the same goes out to You from us. These little cartridges with spong and integrated print head are really sensitive towards drying out - it does not need much time and the sponges harden. Then their physics do not work anymore for storing the inks inside the cartridge.
@@octopusoffice You're most welcome. Take care and Keep the great videos coming man ! :-)
Hallo.
I liked it - THANKS -
Thank you too for Your feedback!
the magenta cap is red!
😊 Do refer to the cap of the bottle for the magenta ink? We can ensure that at least the ink in there is magenta on the prints ....
That voice... Dayum..
We take it as a compliment, right?
Lol..haha exactly what I thought at first.....
Do not print after refill. Do not work with setup cartridge
It did not work with me either. Are you sure it is because that it is a setup cartridge?
This tutorial is misleading, you really have to go deep with your needle so the black paint reaches the bottom 2 cm is not enough
Why does he sound so depressed
Thanks for caring! 😀 Can ensure to You - not depressed - just trying to concentrate ...
It was a joke
That guy....Why indeed does he sound so depressed? He should be happy - - he's saved a bundle on new cartridges!
sorted.
Terrible voice
Trying to improve everyday - sorry for Your ears. We hope they are better by now :)
