THANK YOU, your one of the only videos I could find anywhere that taped the inner medial calf muscle 👏👏👏 Goodness I didn't think it would be this hard to find videos for the inner calf tear/strain 😅
thank you for the video. In the past, my chiropractor strapped my lower trap. For 20 years I have a problem with a firm knot in the muscle. It was restricting movement. She suggested tapping the area. After 4 days the muscle relaxed and has not returned to previous form. The same problem existed in my left shoulder. She taped that for me and the same positive result. She did say it's not clear why it works but suggested that the tape when applied as you have demonstrated gently lifts the skin from the fascia and permits improved blood flow and better lymph flow. I am going to use it for a calf muscle I strained and look forward to a positive result. As an aside I am always curious why people write to forums they don't agree with in such aggressive and profane terms. I mean come on. Even if taping were a phony solution, as they suggest, what's wrong with spending a couple bucks to find out if it's true.
GodzOfHeavenzz Xbox Player good question, I have a calf strain actually 2nd in a month and I just bought some KT tape for it. I’ve also used cross fiber massage and gently stretching
GodzOfHeavenzz Xbox Player well I’m not an expert and I think everyone is different but from the research I’ve done, once you tear or strain it...it wants to keep popping! There is scar tissue apparently that builds up first before the muscle fibers actually heal and that tricks us into thinking it’s healed fully. I am reading it’s good to massage it and build those muscle fibers back up before going back to your ”sport”. Depending on the severity of the tear you could be back with a mild tear in 3 weeks, a more sever tear could take 6 weeks to ensure proper recovery. Calf raises and massage is really helpful. Go see Bob and Tom on TH-cam for their calf rehab vids
i did that when i was 10 years old for my ankle and calf strain and now i'm 14 and i gotta do it again for my quads/ knee, i started regretting being athletic
Using the tape prevents worse injurys don't worry work will do this as well by being a younger athlete facing these problems now you'll have less pain later in life
John.... Thank you for the Great video explanation as always, I was wondering what your method would be for someone who has proximal Lataeral Gastroc pain/Tightness? Appreciate your time
Hey John. Thank you for these very clear instructions. I'm just a little bit confused about where and how exactly to put the tape. Some other videos said to stretch the tape over the pain area.Should I actually hit the pain area with the tape?
I'm a over weighted person . My both calf's and hamstring s are stiff. When I pressed the leg it gets hurt.when I massages pain and stiff go away . After a day it will come again. can you explain me
man this sucks we had the biggest game of our season today and i had a calf strain for the game and could barely walk but our team is out with either covid or pulled muscles so i had to play and it was such a disappointing game man.
i pulled my muscle, it doesn’t hurt to walk on it but it does feel sore/ kind of hurt when i run on it. i do raiders and it involves a lot of running, could i use the tape and still run?
Taping techniques is one tool in your toolbox so it is used in combination with other modalities and when the tape is used then it can help. regards JG
I have a question, my calf tightens and creat a dull pain when i tipped toe , what extent to the muscles damage i have? Can i get back to playing badminton again with KT tape supported?
When I’m playing basketball I can’t go all out since sometimes I feel like my calf’s would just gave up on me. The muscle/ calf would just go up and it would hurt so bad. What do you guys recommend?
Hlllo John .. It is a basic question If some one has point pain in any part .. can we do cross small tape with 80% strech as u usually do for decompression of pain
Again this method DOES NOT work. Start with no tension on Soleus - ankle in plantar flexion. The anchor point of the initial tape needs to be on the heel otherwise there is NO bony landmark to help control the ground reaction forces.
So how exactly can you apply it i have pain the side of the belly on my solius but also when i push off the ground the center between my gastronimius and solius. Like a slight tear sting.
@@Metalpazallteway A muscle works across a joint. The purpose of the Kinesiotherapy tape is to decelerate the forces across that joint. I would have the calf completely relaxed, lying prone with a pillow under the ankles to that there is no tension on the calf muscle. You will probably need a friend to help. Apply one piece of tape anchored on the inner aspect of the heel, taking it up to cross the painful area. Then take a second strip of Kinesiotherapy tape from the outer heel and cross the first piece at the painful area. The maximum point of tension in the tape should be at the painful area so you need to make the upper anchor point 5 to 7 cm above the painful area.
@@hughruxtonosteopathyplus4527 Thank you so much I'll try to re create the tape work. It's funny because i have thick muscles so maybe it's just age now that I'm 30 things don't function as smoothly as before. Soccer does wear and tear you subconsciously. Thanks once again
Kinesiology Tape for calf strains is only a gimmick. It's useless. Consult a good sports physio and they'll tell you the process and timeframe it will take to cure your particular calf strain.
Ktape is only another tool in the tool box one can use and I have taught thousands of therapists who have had great results....it never fixes the issue as the tape only reduce some of the symptoms, regards JG
@@JohnGibbons Thank you for the reply, John. That has clarified my point. Thanks. I'm still confused as to why sports people use ktape when they compete. Surely if they have a muscle tear, even a twinge it'll only get worse when they compete. Ktape won't save them.

So I’ve never seen this tape before. But what is the purpose of putting tape on the pain area?
To try and reduce some of the symptoms, regards JG
Don’t have access to kinesiology tape atm but I have regular strapping tape could I use that instead?

Does this work for a Soleus strain?
It would, just modify the position of tape, regards JG
Where can I buy the tape from pls?
It definitely felt like I got hit with a tennis ball while playing basketball 😂
Hello sir , what's the name of the tape you are using ?
Rocktape, regards jG

explain to me how a topical taping is going to help an internal muscle strain?
Is there any difference between the two tapes? If so what are they. Please describe so I can make the appropriate purchase. Thank you very much

Sometimes when I stretch my legs early in the morning I pulled my calf muscle it hurts so bad
Maybe don't stretch so far or so often as that might help and warm up first before you stretch, regards JG
Hello, why does a tennis leg only affects the medial gastrocnemius ? Thanks
After I tape it can I start running on it again, also where can I find this tape I need it by Tomorrow morning.
