A joy to see your moms magnificent ladies of fashion dolls. I too have a Kathryn Grayson doll, but when you were showing us your moms Kathryn Grayson doll you were in fact showing us her Arlene Dahl doll who is the red head in the purple dress. The Kathryn Grayson doll is the doll you presented and described as the Arlene Dahl lady of fashion. Just for the record, and for the benefit of those who don’t know, both Kathryn Grayson and Arlene Dahl were big MGM movie stars who were active in the 1940’s and 1950’s. You might also be interested to know that MA’s Kathryn Grayson doll was modelled on Grayson’s appearance in the 1951 MGM Movie Musical “Lovely To Look At”, and MA’s Arlene Dahl doll was modelled on Dahl’s appearance in the 1950 MGM Movie Musical “Three Little Words”. Both are great movies and well worth checking out! 1951’s “Lovely To Look At” features as its finale a fabulous Technicolored fashion show with gowns by legendary MGM costume designer Gilbert Adrian which must have inspired MA greatly.
Thanks for pointing this out. I kept looking at the doll she described as Arlene Dahl and wondering why the hair was wrong. As soon as she picked up the doll she described as Kathryn Grayson, I knew the two were mixed up. Lucky you for owning one of these magnificent dolls!
I love Madame Alexander! They are what rekindled my love of dolls. Most of all, I'm absolutely nuts about MA composition and hard plastic dolls (40s and 50s). Gorgeous! Your mom's collection reminded me of the Rodney Waller collection displayed by Theriault's Dolls. I want so many of those dolls soooo much, but I never find them. I saw Princess Flavia in the background. She's the one I love the most (my daughter, she's 4, wants the Cinderella). I found Princess Flavia on Ruby Lane once, but someone grabbed her before I could. I'm sure I'll never find her again. I do have 1939 Sleeping Beauty, a Wendy Ann bride from the 1940s and three little women HP dolls (Meg, Jo, and Amy). I think they might be 1949 or early 50s. Just love them. Nobody could do it like the Madame.
Oh my goodness I have never seen a Lady of Fashion before, they are stunning. I love Madame Alexander dolls. The faces are so unique and recognizable. Catherine Grayson is stunning I am in love. I love the dress on Judy Garland. I love the little dolls. Oh my she has Hina dolls.
Thank you so much for sharing your mom’s exquisite Madam Alexander Composition Dolls which are in the most remarkable condition for their age. The composition dolls you have shared with us in this great video actually date from the mid 1940’s. And that beautifully gowned Judy Garland doll your mom has was modelled by MA on Judy’s appearance in her 1946 MGM Movie Musical “The Harvey Girls” and the gown that Judy wore for the waltz-time number ‘Swing Your Partner Round And Round’ designed by the legendary MGM costumer ‘Irene’ whose work clearly inspired MA when it came to dressing her composition dolls. As a further point of interest the MGM Movie Musical “The Harvey Girls” that inspired MA is best remembered today for is the Oscar-winning song ‘On The Atchison, Topeka And The Santa Fe’.

Hello. I just watched a video of you showing your moms house where the beautiful Christmas tree is. I love the fist doll you showed in the beautifull black dress. Just lovin her. But, they are really all beautiful dolls and very special. Your lucky to have such a wonderful mother. Bless her. The idea of going in wearing a t shirt that says what your looking for, how AWSOME! That is such a super idea. Your mother is certainly a gift to the doll world from god. And a very special person. Take care of her and show her all your love and thats special. Thanx for sharing. Okc. Okla.
I love your collection. I especially love the Carmens! The hair, makeup, and outfits on those vintage MA ladies is just amazing. Thanks for the video so we can see these lovelys!

Hi Rachel, your Mothers dolls are beautiful & mint. Did your Mom buy the doll from them directly when they came out?, I have the Dionne Quints all original, and a couple of vinyl 8" dolls.
Madame Alexander did amazing fashion dolls but her baby dolls are wonderful as well. She did it all!
