Customized+ katana from Hanbon Forge (in honor of my father, who passed away a few years ago)

  • A sword that I had made by Hanbon Forge. It has the usual customization options, and another one off-menu that I asked for beyond that. My father passed away a few years ago and I was having some substantial emotional turmoil a couple months ago, as it was the anniversary of a few heavy life events. This was an attempt to cope with things.
    While it has helped a bit with losing my father, I don't think anything will ever truly heal that; not even time. My father was wonderful and I have so many happy memories, and mementos when he was alive. The pain may dull off a bit over time, but it will never go away.
    Despite multiple attempts at a few things (not just swords) to cope with the miscarriage, the only thing that ever helped me was when my daughter was born. I had a surreal moment in the hospital while my wife was in bed recovering and I was looking at my baby girl in her little crib. I'm still bitter about the miscarriage, and it will stick with me forever, but her birth is helping me to move past it as best as I can.

    Great video James. I like the deep sori katana,very nice. Yeah,my old man survived the colon cancer just to get pneumonia that took him out right before i started getting into swords which i think really would have enjoyed. RIP Pop

      Thanks Byrd! I really like the deep sori too. My dad was integral in this hobby. He took me to my first renn faire even though he had never been and never dressed up. He came to take photos and video at some of our demonstrations. He even ran a "hands on" table at one where we had various pieces of armor and training weapons for kids to see, touch, and take pictures with. He was behind the camera so much I only have one picture of us together with me in full armor. When he finally made it to see our shows at renn faire, it was our last season before he passed away. Sorry to hear about your dad, too. RIP

      Thank you. I do intend this to be passed down. That also gives me an idea for another video, I have an antique family heirloom sword that goes back 4+ generations.

    Wenn come the gyoyo Video?

    • @SamuraiJames
      @SamuraiJames  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Should be soon. The sound was gone. I did nodawa, gyoyo, and two more but microphone stopped working during nodawa. I have to reshoot all four of them when I can get the armor on too.
