Ana image of the icon is kinda similar to the original icon of the Our Lady of the Abandoned in Spain but there's a story why it's called La Gobernadora and it's a beautiful story - a true story. Thank you for visiting my hometown as you can see it's very organized and the citizens are well disciplined. Marikina today just like the rest are experiencing tremendous progress for we now have skyscrapers yet still it retains its charming provincial town vibe but only in a metropolitan setting.
You can also visit Loyola memorial park where you can have a graveyard tour of the rich and famous or simply just walk around the river park. There's nothing like it in metro manila the river park is a whole stretch of park along the Marikina river on both sides of its banks there are themed parks, bike lanes, restaurants etc.

Marikina is the only city in the metro with bike lanes almost everywhere. It's clean and green as well.
