@@JetLagWarriors,Dear friend, I have to explain this and hope you will tell your mother about the "fake dog" in the first restaurant and your mother decided to leave,. That fake dog dish is not made from dog meat It's from pork ribs or most often from chicken - just the same cooking method and dipping sauce that makes the chicken taste just like dog meat, that's all. I know your mother left because she is an animal lover
Oh gosh, poor mom, she's having a hard time with the chopsticks. Anyway, "Practice Makes Perfect" Dad is cool as always 👍👏 Haha...with that many scooters/motorbikes on the road, l just didn't know how to cross the road when l visited Hanoi 😂😅 The best thing there wasn't any accident(s) Yeah, Vietnam food seems to be very healthy, lots of herbs and veggies.
Welcome to Vietnam, Enjoy time being here. Help showing the world about friendly Vietnamese people, beatiful natural. Wish health to all family members for the up coming trip.
Welcome you and your mother to our country. Enjoy and feel our country's culture. Many people often ask why we always proactively invite, proactively pay, and proactively help strangers the first time we meet. Simply because we consider human feelings and friendship above material wealth
I laughed my ass out at this video, that friendly guy in the street with his alcohol was the main culprit! Also, I noticed even a smile on Steve dad's face, so it must be that Vietnam is a great country to visit :))
Different launguge, different culture and different foods your mom must or try to be social with where ever you go..she just scare that all. Good luck and enjoy time in VN. CA.USA
"No, no, no, no, no, no!" "This wet napkin is amazing! It'll be wet for a month!" Mom won the show again! Also, them mad skillz on dad with the chopsticks! Hope you payed that beer, Steve, it's long overdue!
I'm Vietnamese. I feel sorry for the first restaurant. The dish name Giả Cầy is pork trotters cooked with galangal and ginger along with lemongrass. The name of it translated almost correct - none of dog meat in that. Because people used to cook dog meat like that - similar with korean.
I would have sworn you had an Irish accent before you revealed you were Canadian. I've never been offered a drink on the streets of Saigon. and have been there many times. The people are great though.
Welcome to Vietnam, enjoy the beautiful scenery, great cuisine and introduce to international friends how hospitable our country is. Traffic can be difficult for newcomers but keep calm, it will be fine for you.
Thanks for the great tour! Brought back fond memories of when I came back in 2014, after leaving Vietnam in 1975 due to the fall of Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City). A few family members are now visiting Vietnam (while we are freezing in Canada lol). I went in December so it felt like it was spring over there. Keep up the great work! :)
Maybe just a bit culture shock. Well it’s okay guy we have different tastes and lifestyles so it still makes sense. Just welcome to Vietnam! Besides the food culture… the people are genuinely nice
I see your mom has a little bit culture shock. Let her try everything step by step from light to strong, try something familiar with her first. I think the first day's experiences in VN quite strong to her, especially talking with the strangers and then they invite her and you drinking alcohol, or try fake dog meat. It is better to let her try some kinds of Vietnamese noodle soups and family Vietnamese cuisine, then visit several iconic in Saigon and have a bus tour around the city.
The name is misleading even in Vietnamese they don't use "cho" (dog) instead they use "cay" a name of a wild fox in the forest. This fake dish is for the ladies and those who don't like dog meat but like the taste of the special ingredients. It tastes really good like pork stew almost. Pouring the fish sauce in the spring roll ice noodles is the right way to eat it.
Just between me and the gatepost keep an eye on your personal belongings this isn’t KL or Bangkok lots of bag and phone snatchers Never ever let your guard down and only walk around with what you can afford to lose . Other then that you will love Saigon and the people are real what you see is what you get

Don't show your phone near the road, some areas are not safe and robbers will snatch your phone from a scooter. Or at least step back on the sidewalk.
The type of rice noodle which come with fish sauce should be poured in and mixed with salad. Bun Rieu is a rice noddle with crab roe. Sometimes we add the snail to the soup and it’s called Bun = Rice noodle, Rieu= crab roe, Or= snail. It’s a typical dish from the North
Hi!,I suggest why you guys buy a pair of folk and spoon tact along whenever you all dine.no offence at all .for your own convenience sake.i did that also , after using I cleaned it, wrapped it with tissues and bring it to hotel and wash. Viola!
You got the right idea by pouring the watered down fish sauce mix with sugar, garlic, lime, and chili(some put carrot sticks). That sauce is pretty much good for everything. As for the lady, bun rieu not seafood pho. Bun is a round rice noodle and pho is flat thin rice noodles depends on where you are. Northern is bigger flat rice noodles. It’s just a seafood round rice noodle soup with pork meatball mix with crabmeat (my personal fave viet noodle soup)
There is/was a great Vietnamese restaurant in 'Sauga near your parents home, Lé Vu Authentic Vietnamese, 1580 Dundas St E, Mississauga, ON L4X 1L4, Canada. Google says closed permanently though but last photo was Feb 2022. Very sad if truly closed. My favorite dish was Bun Bo Hue(spicy pho). I also enjoyed the food at Pho 99 for the huge size of a bowl of noodles (bring a thermos).
Hi, This video will be good memorable for your parent, it hilarious when you tell your Mom how to eat with chop sticks: "Put your mouth there"....Have a good time in VN.

There are a lot of good dishes you should try, such as: Bánh cuốn nhân tôm - shrimp spring roll (Diêm Điền town, Thai Binh province); chả đa nem, beef phở, chicken phở, phở cuốn (Hanoi); chả rươi (Hải Dương province); Bánh mì; many types of cakes (Hue city - the old capital); Trúc Bạch beer (Hanoi); Egg coffee (Giảng cafe', 39 Nguyễn Hữu Huân strees, Hanoi), Fresh sea foods (Bình Định province, Phú Yên provice, Phú Quốc Island) etc... There are many good sightseeing beaches, mountaints (Halong Bay, Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Đà Lạt, Sapa). You want to know which are the best restaurances for each dish, you should spend 8 to 10 months to live in Vietnam as Vietnameses and experiment.
You are eating vermicelli with grilled meat and spring rolls. You have to add more or less of that dipping sauce into the bowl depending on how light or dark you want it to be. then mix well and eat.
I live in China. Looking the video, Vietnam has so much like China in some areas, like the restaurant layout, the scrooters on the street (though not soooo many in China)...
I think the first dish was a vegan vermicelli dish with tofu served with a soy sauce instead of the Southern BBQ beef or fried spring rolls with vermicelli and fish sauce mix which is called Bun Bo Nam Bo.
U should help ur mom how to eat bún thịt nướng. I saw her ate it so difficult. He can put all sauce on bún n mix together like u did not enjoy it. It’s so easy to eat
My brand new Honda scooter is made in Vietnam. Windshield is looking like is polished with sandpaper. Even if was made in Romania could not be like that 😅
Your enthusiasm makes up for the lackluster reaction of the other party. People usually recommend noodles, but you hope you can try "broken rice", bo ne, mi quang, and a traditional family styled meal, where you order a bunch of dishes and share them. Vietnamese food is more than just pho, bun cha, and banh mi but do a little research before you go bc there are restaurants every few steps but good ones are limited.

I love how you tease your parents so much and they take it like parents do.

Sorry for the misunderstanding 😅. “Fake dog meat” is a dish made from pork, galangal, lemongrass, herbs and spices.
just say without "sorry", it's not a fault, not your fault.

Banh mi also

oh wow...I did not know Vietnam consumed dog meat... cant wait for more videos in Vietnam, cause the language barrier seems kinda high
In vietnam, there have a lot dog meat farms. It's not a pet. Dog meat is the same of market meat, like chicken, duck, beef, pig, ...
Not completely true. Many don't eat that and many people keep dogs as pets.
