      @@dave-watson I'me in saltburn by the sea in my van and I've just ordered a solar kit just wondering if there's any plastic pieces ya can buy to bridge the low points of the roof on a vivaro, I'me sure I've seen them for sale somewhere

    I also placed a solar panel on my roof, but I took the panel also on the roof. Placed the holders on the roof, placed the panel in it. And then you know exactly where the holders are coming.Saves a lot of time in measurement......

    Another good video Dave. However you could have mounted the solar panel on roof bars and fed the cables down the plastic sections above your rear lights, then through one of the holes were the van loom goes, sealed it job done. No holes in the roof = no chance of leaks in the future.

    Hi Dave, thanks again for these videos. Ive been following along for my own conversion. Im wondering if the horizontal ceiling batons are only necessary if you plan to use cladding for the ceiling?
    Im think about just using 6mm ply, same as the wall panelling. Granted, not as pretty but hoping it will be functionally the same?
    If so do you reckon you can just put the ply straight onto the metal framework?
    Many thanks

      Hi Liam, Glad the videos are helpful. Yes i think you could put the ply onto the steel framework with some self tappers only thing is the ply may sag a bit and might need some support between the ceiling ribs of the van. Hope that helps.

    Great videos. It would have helped me greatly if you'd included a materials list; what you bought and where from :-) . Im just starting my SWB Vivaro conversion, identical vehicle to yours. At the moment, still trying to figure out what floor insulation you used - what it was and where from. Cheers.

      Hi, I do have a parts and cost list in another video. th-cam.com/video/wO4l6YfpUVU/w-d-xo.html I got most of it on ebay and amazon but the floor insulation was 7mm closed cell foam and it took 10sqm for the LWB. If you search for that on ebay a load of it should come up. Good luck with your conversion, it's a great project to do.

    I'm curious: why didn't you put the solar panel on sideways, and leave more room for expansion?

    • @dave-watson
      @dave-watson  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ian, I was pretty sure I was only going to put the one panel on.

    What size screws did you use to attach the wood to the ceiling.
    Thanks.

    • @dave-watson
      @dave-watson  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I remember correctly I used 25mm self tappers to attach the cross beams to the ribs of the van and 16mm wood screws to attach the cladding to the beams. Hope that helps.

    iv noticed well this build as been done for quite a while why did u always drill everything as u can get screws that self drill and screw :/ would that not of been easier ? just asking

    • @dave-watson
      @dave-watson  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi lee, I find it more accurate to drill a pilot hole. the self drilling screws sometimes wobble about on the steel before they gat a bite.

    Hey Dave, with the down lights what’s the set up for the supply? 12v down lights with a 12v supply? If so did you have to use a driver still in series to the lights

    • @dave-watson
      @dave-watson  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The lights are all 12v and the lead runs from the lights to fuse box and then the fuse box to the leisure battery. Here is a link to a video i did on the electrics th-cam.com/video/_oyi8PhQ7p0/w-d-xo.html Hope that helps.
