Some points in regard to the claims you forwarded regarding to the funding and development of the app: 1. The app wasn't funded by the Saudis. It is owned by Ayman Hariri, who was born in Saudi Arabia but is Lebanese. He was CEO of Saudi Oger, a Saudi company, but divested from the company in 2014. The issue was the treatment of the workers discovered in 2016 after he left the company. 2. The app wasn't developed by the Russian government. There were Russian developers involved in the development of the app, but not only Russian. It's normal to have developers from different countries involved. These two points are referring to what Hariri explained himself back when the issues were raised. I haven't been able to find anything negating his explanations, nor that there have been any issues at a later stage. I do want to find out if there are any issues or if these two issues are still relevant. That said, considering how Facebook is dealing with our information and data, and the fact that TikTok is so exposed to the Chinese government, I would worry far more about those two than Vero. I don't like the thought about Russia potentially having access to my information, but I'm not convinced that they will have access through Vero. I'm not convinced about Vero yet. So far I don't find it as engaging as for example Facebook, but when it comes to Instagram it's the same for me. Only problem is that the people I would reach out to with my content aren't on Vero. I do want to recommend people check Joshua Peg's latest video on the subject. Apparently, he and some other photographers were invited to a meeting with the higher-ups in Vero and he left with a pretty good impression.
Thanks for sharing all the details! I didn't have time to go into the funding and development too much in the video but I totally agree. There are concerns around any platform that has a lot of data about people and the best plan is to be careful when using all social media and not share anything sensitive, but my concern around VERO is less or equal to Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, which I also use. For example we don't know the Russian developers of VERO indicate involvement of the Russian government there (as you say, probably not) but we do have evidence the Russian government run a lot of accounts and pages on Facebook to try to influence people... Thanks for sharing your thoughts and Joshua Peg's video, I'll check it out!
I've been really enjoying it, it seems like there's a good community of photographers over there and it's pretty easy to use. VERO actually doesn't have a web version but there's a desktop app in beta that's been working well for me. Maybe it's the newness but I've been enjoying VERO more than I have Instagram for a long time.
I love that some people are weary of Vero because of the CEO but have no problems with TikTok's privacy issues. So glad more people are trying Vero, it's fantastic. I can be found @thatonemfer
Yes.

thanks for this video, I'm following you on Vero 🙂
Thank you!
I'll have to give Vero a try. I gave up on Instagram long ago (mainly because of the hassle posting pictures from my computer).

I'm on Vero. Vero word in my native Finnish language means taxes :)
That's hilarious, I'll think about taxes when I open VERO now 😆 Just looked at your VERO and you've got some great work!
@@EmmettBudd Thank you!
