Guess that’s why he never sang it in concert. I heard some people said that about it not being easy, when the album was first released too.
Wow! The sorrow, pain and regret in his voice is chilling. He was singing so high that I got nervous he would thrash his vocals. Relieved that all is obviously well with his extraordinary vocals.

This song, if you listen to him in an interview, is what made him want to do the kind of music he made for Silk Sonic. This was the pivotal song.
