Luckily Adan Row now has changed the heading to a quesion: "Yuja Wang, The Best Pianist of the World?". Good for him. I myself can think of many pianists better than Yuja Wang. My newest is Yunchan Lim, even if he is very young. So, pianists may come and go, music for piano will always exist.
While there are many excellent pianists in the world, Yuja's acknowledgements to the audience are executed with an incomparable chic flourish. So, Yuja wins by 'bow'!
The best pianist in the world is Fred Bloggs. He is resident at Butlins holiday camp,Skegness,England, south of Scotland. He wears a cloth cap & has 2 pints of beer on the piano & fish & chips.
What are the criteria of "best art"? My professors during the exams always made a strong point of "tone", which has a lot to do with pedaling and fingering.
That's an exaggeration to say that she is the best. Miss Katia Buniathishvili is a lady,beautiful,intelligent.Mr.Lang-Lang is the great Pianist.Really with very high Level. But Youja Wang is the gift from God❤
Anyone who labels ANYONE in any field as the “best” is a fool. There is NO such thing. There are no absolutes in the arts in particular. You might as well say her fingernails are superior to Lang Lang’s….it’s about as meaningful. There is only one’s opinion and one’s favorite. Semantics? No, that’s just the way it works.
Yuja isn’t THE best pianist right now. Definitely in the top five. I had the good luck to see her perform solo last year and it was incredible. She’s still young so I think we can only look forward to her improving constantly.
She and Lang Lang might be the most marketed pianists; this is how far I would concur. For my personal preference, and depending heavily on the piece of music, I name Richter, Pollini, Brendel, Gilels, Zimmerman.
Does anyone know the meaning of her name in Chinese? Yu (羽) means feather of bird, also the sixth note of music. Jia (佳) means good, excellent, beautiful. Wang (王) is a surname, also means king. I think that her parents wish her to be a beautiful little bird flying in music, and she really did.
Sans vouloir être rabat-joie pour ceux qui aiment Yuja et que je respecte, certes c'est la pianiste qui fait vendre mais il y en a plein d'autres qui sont aussi tout bons si ce n'est meilleurs qu'elle...
Better? More like, prefer. I prefer Yuja because her technical expertise and artistic choices resonate with me. But otherwise it's like saying Piccasso is better than Caravaggio.
Y. Wang is only a piano virtuoso, not a piano artist. To be among the best pianists you need to accomplish both sides, much more to be considered "the best". Only a few pianists have really accomplished both dides of the piano artistry. Y. Wang is not among them, She has repeatedly failed to become an artist of the piano since she is just an outstanding piano virtuoso with defficient skills on regard to intellectual conception, musicianship, musical expressiveness and trascendence. She only occupies her mind on technical proess but unfortunately not on supreme artistry and musical proess, as she should. Someone with the technical skills that she possesses should also be bussy in achieving greatness in musicianship and intellectual understanding of music, then she could be considered among the best ones, not "the best", since there has never been a best, and never will be. Greatness should not be confused with dexterity! Very different levels! Thank You!
This is even better on headphones. This young buck conductor is on with the most desirable woman on Earth. So privileged. And good for him and her! Although I think she might be wasted on him. The music interpretation is great too. It seems that Yuja can do almost anything. This is a great concert! Thank you 🙂
They're not together anymore. And I think it's unlikely to be seen playing alongside each other, she cancelled all the dates in which she was supposed to play with him specifically. I personally find him superfluous as a conductor, can't connect at all, but he's got more talent than me, that's for sure 😂
Too bad her and Klaus will never work together anymore or at least for the next few years. Their collaboration was pretty special, in my humble opinion.
Nonsense. All accomplished pianists are the greatest. I embrace and am thankful for them all. This kind of “click bate” is BENEATH THE CLASSICAL WORLD.

Playing Rachmaninov, Scriabin, Prokofiev today she is probably up there with the best. But if she records Beethoven, Schubert, Mozart that will be the big test for her aesthetic credentials. The best? I don't know, there are several very good pianists, even some younger than Yuja. What I do know is that she is the most popular and, in my opinion, the one who best understands Rachmaninov.
Yuja Wang, like her countryman Lang Lang, suffers from an apparent and insatiable NEED to make herself more important than the music she is playing. Her playing is no doubt superlative, with just that illusive mixture of restrained bravura, dash and delicacy (a rare combination, indeed!), but ALL that she plays is filtered through the inexplicable and irrelevant filter of her outward appearance. If it wasn't for the enormous Deutsche Grammophon marketing apparatus insisting that "shock value" is the name of the Classical Music game, I would have long ago sung her praises to the heavens... but, alas, I could never bring myself to worship at the alter of a paper dragon. As the immortal Verdi observed, "Mozart is the only one." THAT is the humble reverence for the music of the great composers that is missing in everything Yuja Wang plays.
There are a lot of best pianists in the world. Yuya is one of them. But she is not the best when she plays Beethoven. She tried it and played a mixture of all styles she ever learned but not Beethoven.

Best in the world? She would have to climb over the graves of Evgeny Kissin, Murray Perahia and Simon Trpčeski, among a few others, to claim that title.
No such thing as best. I think Yuja is remarkable, but a little too 'technical' to me. Music is not about perfection, it is about passion, feeling and phrasing - and there might he some technical flaws. My personal favourites are Arcadi Volodos (watch his solo outdoor concert from Amsterdam - a tour de force!) and Grigory Sokolov. Lang lang I'm sorry to say is just not in the same league.
Technically speaking she is one of the best, for sure, but not in top 3 (Volodos, Katsaris, Zimermann). Musically, she hasn't much to say, a lot of affect and common places but the sound is nice so it does the job. Anyway, she does an incredible career and she is very professionnel, no mistakes so far. Classical Piano needs more women beside Argerich and Maria Pires also.
It’s hard to take her seriously as a musician because of the way she dresses which is attention- grabbing but also very distracting. Great virtuoso, certainly. Great musician? Maybe not.
Best in the world? She wouldn't even make my top 25. A few obviously better pianists would be Sokolov, Hamelin, Volodos, Zimerman, Von Eckardstein, Anderszewski, Argerich, Lugansky, Uchida, Yunchan Lim, Seong-Jin Cho, Biss, Katsaris, Trpceski, Schiff, Kissin, Trifonov, etc. If she hadn't gotten a lot of attention for her sexy clothing, I think she would be nowhere, just another competent performer.

What the hell has your so-called "modest stage presence" got to do with anything?!
The best pianist in the world is Fred Bloggs. He is resident at Butlins holiday camp,Skegness,England, south of Scotland. He wears a cloth cap & has 2 pints of beer on the piano & fish & chips.
Yuja is amazing but as long as Martha Argerich is still breathing, that title belongs to her.
What are the criteria of "best art"? My professors during the exams always made a strong point of "tone", which has a lot to do with pedaling and fingering.
all criteria of "best art" are limited by the era. Thanks for your comment and follow the channel!
Not the best...but excellent! Music is not a competition. ❤
That's an exaggeration to say that she is the best. If it's like that, what about the genial others and the legends like Horowitz, even Rachmaninoff, Barenboim, Lipatti, Sokolov, Sviatoslav Richter, Martha Argerich or Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, Murray Perahia, Evgheny Kissin, Mikhail Pletnev, Arthur Rubinstein, Emil Gilels etc, etc.

❤❤❤ + 🌹

They're not together anymore. And I think it's unlikely to be seen playing alongside each other, she cancelled all the dates in which she was supposed to play with him specifically. Playing Rachmaninov, Scriabin, Prokofiev today she is probably up there with the best. But if she records Beethoven, Schubert, Mozart that will be the big test for her aesthetic credentials. Playing all the right notes in the right order is one thing, but she needs to prove herself in the central european repertoire more in the future.

Yuja Wang, The Best Pianist of the HEAVEN
She isn't the best...just one of the most well known...hardly the same thing...so far she has not recorded anything considered definitive.
Agree
I think her Mendelssohn Piano Concerto No. 1 is way up there.
