- Another Rowdy year in the books for Pickerel Lake! Here is the highlight reel from the day! I spent 7 hours next to the hole trying to get as much as the action I could. I hope everyone thinks this is a good completion of clips! Can't wait for next year!
Don't forget to check out my sponsor Pandemyk Performance on FB and IG or on his website www.pandemykperformance.com/
It won't be long before he will have tunes available for Polaris and Ski-Doo snowmobiles!!
Thank you for watching the video!! - บันเทิง
That was awesome
🤘 always a good time!!
I did this here years ago on a 1991 indy 400, these guys make it look way harder than it is, lol
Some make it look hard and some don’t, that’s what makes it fun, you never know what’s going to happen when they approach the open water
Awesome thanks from NH
Thank you for watching!
Nice to see that ATVs and UTVs don't tear up the forest.
👍
Politics will destroy the planet anyways
This looks awesome
It’s always a good time!!
Know what I love? The crowd going off for the retro/vintage sleds getting after it.. and hardly giving any reactions to the new sleds. 😂
For sure! It’s way more fun watching the older sleds!! The new ones make it so easy it gets a little repetitive a hour or two in
Let’s go we all love these videos
Thanks for watching! More coming this week
@@grizzlygreg8922 can’t wait
Wasn’t able to make it this year unfortunately. Thanks for the video, enjoyed it!
Thank you for watching, there will be more videos coming later this week!
It was my first year going to this and the first 2 times we made it over and the 3rd time we sunk. It wasn't fun in the moment but seeing videos of us is pretty funny.
Looks cold for sure!! My grandma lives a few doors down from Jerry’s and I keep questioning why I don’t buy a $1000 sled and throw some trunks on and try it.. I mean I can warm up at the cabin lol
It will be great to see when technology allows manufacturing with air chambers and flotation seats and air bags that will save lives for the average trail riders.
Love your content
👍👍 thank you
U guys ever cross water before, never seen so many sleds not make it across water!
I have 4 other videos on my channel with only sleds making it.. there was easily over 1000 sleds that crossed and about 10-15 sink.. I wish it was more cause it makes for a better time! When it’s not your sled lol
Was just to the right of you all day, was a great day!
Heck yea it was! It’s always nice when it is near 30!
@@grizzlygreg8922 Most people I've ever seen there
I rode out there to check it out, it was cool seeing all the sleds. I never seen that many in one place before.
It’s a pretty big event!
I hope you skipped it!
Where was it ?
made my day!! lol
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Algorithm 😎
It's all about the track !
For sure! 3 inch paddles will do better then a less aggressive track
I think that's the most sleds Iv seen go down in one of these videos lol... Sendin it
I hear ya, I spent a lot of hours next to the hole and editing video when I got home to put this together. Glad people are enjoying it!
I love how half the crowd was just slowly sinking as the day went on
Lmao yea the ice sinks a bit as the day goes on, does it every year lol
Arbor Vitae in the house
? Not exactly sure what you mean by that but 🤘🍻
Wow
It’s always a good time!
How are people just standing in ice water to their knees like its nothing??? 😂😂😂
Yep, once you get a lot of weight ice sinks a bit and the water comes on top of it… it happens every year
Haha amazing!
1.) how cold and wet are your feet?
2.) the guy that came zipping out of the culvert! Wow
3.) is there still guys that stand at the start that try to encourage people to start closer to the ice, or either hit their kill switch??
1000gram thinsulate lacrosse knee highs kept the feet warm and cozy, and yes, there is guys at the start that are encouraging more risky moves lol! More fun for everyone else
If a sled sinks do they retrieve it right away or do they just wait till the end of the day? How deep is the water?
We pull them out right away, there is a couple of straps with hooks 🪝 and 20-30 guys get a hold of it and pull them up
You can stand in the water, it not over head but it gets close
Wonder the repair costs for these sleds after they go down? Does it hydrolock the motor?
Most of them start up soon after we pull them up out of the drink. They have to blow water out of the cylinders first obviously
As long as they don’t go under running can pull them out get them dried out and they will run
The ones that sink half way across.... Are they just older sleds with less power? Is a special track made for this? Maybe a paddle one?
Paddle helps ALOT. kinda like a sand paddle yk plus speed helps
Paddle track and power
You need a Polaris
this is the only time some of these guys get a bath
I don’t know the bathing patterns of each person but I ain’t saying your wrong
Where is this located? Theres a ton of pickerel lakes in mn
Pickerel Lake WI. Langlade/Forest counties
would be cool to use an atv belt housing on a sled to keep the water out.
😂😂🤦♂️
@@tylerseabook9423 not a good idea?
I completely agree with you, they would have to just make sure the belt still gets enough air to keep it cool
@@grizzlygreg8922 I’m saying just for this event.
Is this in west st Paul?
Pickerel Lake Wisconsin
How come some dont even look like they tried? Were they different classes like little 440's or was it just part of the fun not to get a better run at it?
No competition at all, just bragging rights.. some just went down just to put on a show. You can see they know they are not going to make it but they don’t give a f. Lol
Nice huge turn out heard someone got really hurt falling off trying to 2 up across ya happen to seenthat?
Yea, wasn’t good . Been watching the news to see if I hear anything …
@@grizzlygreg8922 yea word on the Street is rules are gonna be changed some next year
Gotcha, yea I can see something changing for sure
Is this in Minnesota?
Wisconsin
@@grizzlygreg8922 thanks
Which pickerel lake is this what state
Wisconsin
Any idea how many sleds sank that day???
I think I only missed a few… so count the ones that went under in this video and add 3-4… that would be a VERY close estimate
Some made it look so easy it would seem all should have made it!!! lol
Yep if everyone would just get speed it would be no issue but part of the event is to see how slow you can go and pin it last minute to get bragging rights if you make it
@@grizzlygreg8922 I kind of wondered that as it seemed some were "toying" with making it across lol Definitely having fun!!
The lynx just bought jumps out of the water
🤘🍻
The twin stack john deere tho.
Yup 👍 they are pretty cool machines
Where is this? Our skipping was shut down
Pickerel Lake Wisconsin
@@grizzlygreg8922 Where on the lake is this located. Just wanted to look at it on Google Maps
Weird how some sleds skip water like they were made for it and others.....don't make it 10ft. I would do laps around the lake on my Polaris IQR600 and drive it up the river for a few miles, but it was a race sled and had a 2" track
Yea paddle track and power are the 2 keys.
Polaris skip across the water like they were meant for water 😊.
@Scott Brunette tried skipping water as a kid on my 89 Yamaha SnoScoot......didn't work too good. Idk why 🤔
What state?
Wisconsin
It hurts to see the new sleds sink…
😬, I hear ya there. It’s part of it though. When you have to drive through 6-8 inches of water before you get to the edge of the hole, all it takes is for that belt to get a little wet and down you go
1:30 Jesus walks across the water
?
U in Michigain?
Wisconsin
Anymore videos on the way?
Yes, there will be 2-4 more throughout the week
This is at pickerel lake
Yes it is
It's almost as if they are trying to drown the sleds? Else: Throttle goes to BAR for a reason.
I hear ya, that’s what makes the event so fun to watch!!
The sled at 4:19 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
@tanner
That guy was standing it vertical a bunch of times! I had to throw him in the highlights cause it was impressive
dropped
A lot of sleds dropped! Never gets old
great way to pollute the water ..nice
This event has been going on since the 90s and DNR hasn’t shut it down yet. I wonder if it’s because we get the sleds out of the water in minutes
@@grizzlygreg8922 so let's say 5 minutes , times hundreds of sleds for say 25 years or so... yeah that's a lot of senseless pollution just to entertain a bunch of dickhead rednecks
Well…… you are part of the dickhead redneck people who watch my video. Thank you for the support!
@@grizzlygreg8922 yeah right , I stumbled upon it , gave it a 2 second look. Pure white trash.
my 70 jag 3000 340 can skip for a mile but they can't go 30 feet
Remember there is 1000 snowmobiles that cross at this event and the 20-30 I have on camera go in.. so the percentage of success is still high. Shit just happens to the few
5:25
Little flippin’ action
it hurts me that most the sleds that sunk were new nice sleds with drivers who are horrible.
Yep, it can be painful to watch
Why is everyone so bad at water skipping? It’s like they make you presoak your belt and pull one spark plug first
Yea later in the day there gets to be soo many people the ice sinks a bit and they have to drive through 6-8 inches of water before they reach the edge of the ice. I think that is a contributing factor most times
Yea you can see buddy wake boarding long before the opening and then crosses the opening and just keeps riding it cuz of all the water on the ice 😂
Is this pickerel lake Ontario.?
Wisconsin
@@grizzlygreg8922 ah ok, lol, we have a pickerel lake not far from the cottage we're at sledding , thought I would keep it in mind for next year, looks like a blast
Where is pickerel lake
Langlade/Forest County Wisconsin. Pickerel is also the town next to the lake
guys! why not put a tether to the ski's or already tried and don't work
That’s what we do to pull them back out. It more challenging to pull a water logged sled up out of the drink. Skis get caught under the ice, the guy in the water is cold af, button is mucky so hard to move and walk. Any other excuses you want to hear lol
@@grizzlygreg8922 all good, after reading comments realized it was an event!
What's the point behind this do they win something or the best prize is when you sink in the drink
No prize, no winnings. Just having fun. And if you don’t make it, we’ll that’s just part of it; life’s a bitch sometimes
Bald belts no power?
Yes, I would also add wet belt also to that list
Is there any truth to the story that someone died on Saturday after falling off and hitting their head on the ice?
I obviously watched it happened. It was a bad head hit on the ice, but I’ve been watching the news to see if they have anything but so far it’s just rumors
it's 30 feet how can you not make it?
Older sleds are low on horse power and don’t have a paddle track, and some of the new high horse power mountain sleds approach at 2 mph and try pinning it and sometimes the belt slips and down they go
@@grizzlygreg8922 Im 47 i used to water skip a 1980 340 Jag, its quite easy to make it 30 feet was my point.
it hurts when people dont turn of their sleds in time....
Yea I hear ya
I see alot of idiots that have no clue what to do out there. Also alot of idiots that are lucky they didn't bite their handle bars when they think it's a good idea to slam the front end down on the water right before they get to the ice. The quality of people doing this diminished alot in the years. Crazy.
Yep, that’s a small reason people keep coming back to watch this event every year for the past 30 years
@grizzlygreg8922 I used to go every year also, but seeing these videos every year especially this one, people don't seem to have a clue anymore. I never saw that many sink in all the years I went put together. Also never would see someone slamming their front end down at the edge of the ice. Thats just stupid. Someone is gonna get seriously injured and it will get shut down bc of stupid people. Just wait and see.
Amazing DNR allow all this gas and oil to be put into the water.
Yea I hear ya, they shut every thing down it seems… this event has been happening since early 90s
Because next to none leaks🤦♂️
Do these people really think they are gonna cross going 5mph when they enter?
I know some have doubts lol, but most have a 150 horsepower Mountain sled so they can brag more the slower they go coming up to the hole… one slip of the belt and down they go
People really going 5MPH expecting to make it????
Yep 👍 cheap entertainment for us that are watching lol
Where the hell is pickeral lake ????
Right on the border of Langlade/Forest counties Wisconsin
There is another Pickerel Lake in Wisconsin but in Douglas County. Don't live in Wisconsin anymore, been out in Colorado since 9/1983.
I cant believe in 2023 people dont realize the mess they do when snowmobile sunk in the river…oil gas grease and shit goes in the water… i love sled its not the point…its how and where u did it,,,,
This event has been going on since the early 90s maybe late 80s. I think one major reason the DNR hasn’t shut it down is because the sleds get pulled out of the water which in min and most will start back up and run soon after. But there can be a concern for petroleum getting into water yes. Flooding a boat motor with too much gas does the same thing also. The system isn’t perfect and never will be
Ok Karen
I can see the attraction. You watch them and you think... just go faster. I'll show you how!
Yep exactly right
Are they trying to sink it? And why is half the sleds immeditately bogging to death lol. any 600/800 made in the last 15 years can easily do that.
What you can’t see in the video is the 100 yards of 6’’ water they have to drive through to get to edge of the ice, lot of belts get wet is a big part of it. Early in the day before the water gets on top of the ice nobody goes in other then the really old ones.
Are they intentionally sinking their sleds? Why would you enter open water that slow? These yahoos don't know how to sled open water.
They enter it slow to show off. If they pin it and stand it up it looks cooler. Sometimes the belt slips and down into the drink they go lol
@@grizzlygreg8922 SMH
Too much showing off lol
Yep for sure! Some of them try the showing off thing and end up in the drink lol
Just shows some ppl shouldn’t own sleds
Yep, but it makes for a good show
