I just watched your Video on the Hippach family. They definitely had a curse real or imagined their lives must have been filled with so much sadness. I have just finished reading the book by Erik Larson called The Devil in White City about H.H. Holmes and the story of the first World's Fair in Chicago. What a fantastic book! Secondly, my paternal grandfather also had a single ticket on the Titanic. He was going to America to find a job and a home before bringing his wife and children over. He was asked by the ticket agents if he would sell his single ticket to a business man who had an important business opportunity/ meeting in New York and needed a single ticket only. My grandfather (thankfully) sold his ticket and came over later and found a job in Hamilton Ontario. He brought my grandmother and couple children over. They went on to have nine children in total including my dad who was second youngest!

Another fascinating video, Ron. You never fail to tell a story in a compelling way. I would like to share a couple two or three things related to this story, if I may. Firstly, the Iroquois Theatre sat on the site of the present day Oriental Theatre in downtown Chicago. Secondly, that fire was the reason why theatres in the US were subsequently fitted with asbestos fire curtains. To protect the rest of the building and patrons from fires starting backstage like what occurred at the Iroquois. Thirdly, there is a theory held by numerous amateur sleuths that H.H. Holmes was also the serial killer known as Jack The Ripper. The evidence pointing in that direction is circumstantial, but...... Maybe there are at least a couple of balls I have thrown you that you might be interested in running with? :)

@@Tracywhited2 the one thing I have to say about the Jack the Ripper/HH Holmes theory though, is Jack the Ripper killed London’s poor. H.H. Holmes killed Chicago’s rich to get insurance money. It’s a different M.O. Also, the H. Holmes coming from England on a ship manifest could be someone different as Holmes was a common name at the time. Yes, it’s possible since the timeframe fits and he could have changed his M.O. once he got to the U.S. so Scotland Yard wouldn’t find him, but I think it’s very unlikely. I’m thinking the real reason Jack the Ripper’s crimes stopped is a family member of one of his victims found him and murdered him without telling anyone because let’s be real. What man wouldn’t want to kill a man like that? The Jack the Ripper letter had American Idioms was never confirmed to be from the Ripper and said Ripper can be assumed to be English, Scottish, Welsh, or Irish since if the theory is true, he started over there in that area. Does anyone know if HH Holmes had a noticeable British Isles related accent? That could tell us a lot. I think they have records of HH Holmes being American born.

Interesting to note: Howard Hippach attended the Abbott School for Boys in Farmington, Maine from 1912-1914. After he passed away in October of 1914, his father Louis dedicated a new athletic field in his son’s honor for the Abbott School (the formal dedication was on June 5, 1916). Almost exactly a year and a half later on December 6, 1917 (same day as the Halifax Explosion) the dormitory of the school burned, the successful headmaster left the following year (the school closed for two years), and through the 1920s, it was very unsuccessful, closing around 1930. The only thing left of the Abbott School is Hippach Field, which now belongs to the town of Farmington.

What do the spheres mean, if I might ask? There are quite a few here in West Central Illinois, but they are smaller.

Hi I love you’re channel, I love seeing the Chicago area and it’s history during quarantine. I live in NC now, but my dad grew up in Park Ridge, Illinois. My grandfather died when I was quite young. He’s buried at Town of Maine Cemetery and my grandmother always took me to “see” him when I was young. Later, his brother was buried next to him. They have some rather interesting old graves there including some murder victims including the Eicher family from Park Ridge. Someone sick guy lured a widow and her family to West Virginia and murdered them. Idk if you’ve seen this cemetery but I thought it might be up your alley because no doubt there are many unmarked graves there since it’s been used for 100s of years.
We have a family plot, so if you do go there please blur anyone who is still alive. My grandmother, great aunt, and my uncle have stones but are still alive. Thanks.

What a heartbreaking life they all had. I'm surprised the mom or dad didn't commit suicide after their losses. Some families have it so hard, example the Kennedy's, I don't know how they lived through all the sadness. Great video, TY.

Just a side note- H.H. Holmes was buried in Yeadon PA, not far from Philadelphia. My grandfather is buried near him.

My family, I believe, has a curse dating back to the 1800’s at least. What happened to them is happening to me, in a different form of course. What causes generational curses? How can one stop them. Did I do anything wrong?
Feel bad for the family in this video. I pray god gives them what life never did. RIP
