      You can say the same for pepper spray stuff is potent, learning grappling is probably a woman’s best bet in self defence by learning how to get out of any hold a man could put her in she’ll have a chance to escape and maybe even a chance to catch her assailant.

    • @tommykj2
      @tommykj2 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would like you to try an experiment before recommending pepper spray again. Please don't go spraying yourself, it sucks! Instead go into a garage or somewhere that can be aired out easly. With the room sealed, just do a quick (1 second or so) spray with the pepper spray into the air (away from you). See how long you're willing to stay in there. After that, try and imagine being in a panick and dumping the hole can indoors or being down wind and it blown back at you.

      Self defense is usually so specific and situational that it's almost never helpful in a situation where you actually have to defend yourself. Generally, it's delusional whether male or female to think that going to 4 self defense classes is going to enable you to knock out someone 50-100lbs heavier than you.

    I am a woman and I was a steelworker. I think all women should have at least one manual labor job in their life, so that they can acknowledge and understand how difficult a "mans job" really is, not that only men work those jobs now. I worked as a #1 furnace labor, as well as in the continuing casting, finishing and maintenance departments and working next to a 3000 degree furnace and molten steel gave me perspective on what life was like for both my dad and grandfathers, who were also steelworkers. Lots of women just think of men in the business man sense, sitting behind the desk running companies and they don't understand men hold some of the most dangerous jobs in the country and should be paid more for taking those risks. That's why I have such a problem with the 70 cents on the dollar movement, they don't judge apples to apples. You can't compare a salary of a man who risks his life everyday on the job, to a woman who doesn't. When I worked at the mill my salary was identical to that of a man who was in the same position.

    • @dallassukerkin6878
      @dallassukerkin6878 3 ปีที่แล้ว +245

      Absolutely accurate, Lori. I'm a man, an engineer, but my job usually (other than site visits) involves nothing more dangerous to my health than sitting at a desk. Those guys who work on oil rigs or, like you, in foundries and earn more than me ... well I won't complain because I am not willing to accept that level of hardship and risk in a job.

    • @Valterius87
      @Valterius87 3 ปีที่แล้ว +127

      Good point on the salary thing. The media just takes blanket statements without showing the actual numbers. Women typically take jobs without physical labor, or danger, such as child care or nursing, where men are often in harder physical jobs like mining or construction. You offer a fair point to women, take a labor job, even if for a week. I work in a kitchen, while not a truly physical job, there is a lot of manual labor that goes into it and I am often asked by the women to do lifting, or pulling(the freezer door likes to freeze shut and I have to open it for them) and they're just oblivious to that fact, but will have "feminist" conversations on the smoking dock, while us dudes are back in the kitchen lifting huge ass soup pots, or putting away the truck. I am by no means a super strong guy, just average and I say to them, and any that believe as such, come do it ladies, then tell me that you are physically equal.

    • @faulkgough1768
      @faulkgough1768 3 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      I use to be an OTR trucker, now I'm just a daycabber... home every day... sadly, trucking is going to ass.
      and yes, trucking is like 95% male... and yes, far too many of the guys in the yards I visit, operate like meat in a seat.
      I had ONCE, and hope she is doing well; saw a female driver. she had been as far as yard rules and shit been decent, but that yard is kinda funky in ways... try to moving things one way and its up hill... much harder to move... kinda stuff.
      She had parked in a way that she was going to be physically pushing the converter up hill. I'm not a big guy... I make sure I NEVER set up to have to do that, cuz I can't. I'd seen she had.. and, as I have with any new driver Ive seen male or female, set up like that, offered help.
      She owned it... sure she must have slogged at it some before I saw her, but, she got it.
      so yeah...
      I turned, went back to my truck and thought, "damn girl, get it did... my as would have asked the nearest person for help." And would have had no shame should that person have been her.

    I met a guy years ago that was quite wealthy and he ran a "self-defense" class for college girls once a month. He made adds about how he would teach these great techniques and was very dramatic. Then when he actually had the class, he just sat the girls in a room, made them watch a short video of girls getting thrown around like children by men. Then gave them their money back and told them the only actual functional self-defense that exists for women is to make better life decisions because they will never learn to beat up a man and that if they spend time in bad places or around bad men, they already failed at defending themself. He was a great dude.

I then proceeded to slam my fist through the sheetrock wall in the garage with no injury to myself. I told them most men of their ages would brush off that punch easily. A good way of putting the lesson over, good sir. Sadly, at the moment, the entertainment media is putting over a propaganda message that runs counter to reality and those fantasies will cause some real harm before things correct to the 'centre' again. Even worse is that that 'message' robs both genders of the true strengths each possesses. The cliched gender roles are there for very real reasons and both are, at their core, virtuous and powerful. Good luck to any man trying to actually give birth, for example, and without that miracle there is no human race ... at *all*! Likewise, we fellows (well, most if us) have a certain programming in us that feels satisfaction in providing for and protecting a family. Add those two drives together and you have a civilisation ... set them against each other and, well, the disintegration and suffering that follows will not be pretty.

      I really think it is because our societal rules are structured so that women almost never have to deal with a physical confrontation with a man who will *actually* treat them as if they were a man. So they never run into the sheer differential in strength and (short term) pain tolerance there is between the genders and that leads them to believe, backed up with the nonsense in the 'movies' at the moment, that they can defend themselves. Thankfully nearly all never have to check those beliefs against reality but the flipside of that is that, as a group, they never learn the truth.

    • @FirstnameLastname-qr9jo

      Yes our society protects women, its a hivemind, which means its something everything kinda knows and feels the same about, like how some black ppl are delusional and a big group of them thinks they cant be racist and they hate white people, it’s all possible because of the way our society works, men always have a physical boundary that we can feel, if you dont respect someone else, it might turn ugly, that is what keeps us in line, women dont have any of this instict because there isnt a actual treat for them, they have gotten oblivious to it because men get targeted way more often with voilence of bullying than women, the amount of times i have gotten into physical contact while being a teen in school is way too high.

We were all a little tipsy, and this one female started ranting about how men are disgusting and how they are oppressive. The discussion wound up with her getting her feelings hurt because one of my buddies asked, "why, if women are so great, are they not the oppressors?" And "why, if women are so much greater than men, were they not capable of stopping the oppression?"
    She just called everyone a jerk and sulked until the vibe chilled down a bit. That same night she hooked up with my other friend who is like 6-foot tall, 200lbs, super masculine, and doesn't give a sht about feminism. Haha Wild times.

    About 20 years ago I was in an abusive relationship with a woman where she was the physical aggressor. She was the same height as me, in much better shape, but I had about 40 lbs on her. I think my lack of willingness to strike her in return gave her a false sense of security and maybe superiority. She didn't think that "He doesn't fight back because he doesn't want to hurt me", she legitimately thought she could take me. One time things escalated more than usual and I told her that if she continued I was going to defend myself and she wouldn't like it. She kept pushing and finally I snapped. The "fight" was basically over before it started. I never struck her but basically ragdolled her taking her down, quickly took her back and almost put her to sleep. I had wrestled in high school and had a just a few months of jiu jitsu under my belt and finishing that fight took less time than any match I ever had despite not having been on a mat in 10 years. The whole thing was unfortunate and unnecessary but luckily for me the relationship ended that night and I didn't end up in jail. I think that in cases where the woman is the violent one in the relationship 99% of the time it's because the man is unwilling to fight back for fear of repercussions.

    To your point on woman’s self defense: the best self defense for both women and men is situational awareness and avoidance. Paying attention to your surroundings can save you from having to actually defend yourself. Look through windows on doors before going through, pay attention to other people on the sidewalks, scan the area around your car before getting in, look behind you occasionally when walking down the street etc. paying attention can help you identify possibly dangerous situations before it’s too late and allows you to keep distance. Distance buys you time, time buys you options. There are all sorts of tools and self defense training available, but the most effective by far is simply paying attention and it is 100% free.

    I've been a self defense instructor for years. Btw, there is a HUGE difference between martial arts and self defence, mostly that there are quite a lot of rules in the first, which also tends to be matched up as fair as possible, and the latter, where there is only 1 rule; be alive and well at the end.
    So I always started the lessons with this :
    1 - Every fight you can avoid is one you won.
    2 - There is no such thing as a 'fair fight'. Fair is for inside a ring, or on a mat, which is a contest, not a fight. Outside that, fair does not exist.
    3 - Don't go looking for trouble.
    4 - Never ever give warnings about being able to defend yourself or tell anyone you practice such and so. (My filosophy is that if they aren't bothering you, they don't need to know. If they are bothering you, they will find out soon enough).
    5 - Always realize that men are stronger, faster and have more endurance than women. (yes, I know there are exceptions, but that's it they are exceptions to the rule).
    6 - If you get into a fight you will get hurt, no matter how good you are.
    7 - ALWAYS decide whether a situation is worth your life. Because if you enter a fight, that's what you risk.
    Almost none of the students liked having to repeat all that at the start of every class. But I just can't stress those points enough. Many females didn't like me matching them against some of my male students from other classes. But it sure taught them really fast not to be overconfident.
    Best defence for women apart from avoiding fighting men altogether is to be aware, carry something that can be used as a weapon for a surprise attack and make a quick escape if possible.

I've had only a couple of "ladies" working over me who were good to work for, the rest were really bitchy and slagged me off all the time while making life in work hell. I wasn't perfect as an employee but I always did my best (dispite some physical injuries which caused me a few issues that I fought through), dispite that I was verbally abused both to my face and behind my back by most of them pretty much every single day. The funny part is that I was out-working most of them for less pay... and sometimes even covering their jobs while they were off for no extra pay dispite it being a higher paid position. Every single person under me I tried to treat with respect and fairness, even the ones who couldn't speak my language. I never asked anyone to do a job I couldn't or hadn't done before myself. I also made sure I knew who could do what jobs so that I didn't put people in a position where they struggled to handle it (no point putting a 3'6 tall guy on the feeding end of a production line where they can't reach even with the steps or a slim lady who can't lift much weight on palletising where you're required to hand stack a number of boxes totalling over a ton in weight every 15 minutes).

With equality comes responsibility and most people don't really want equal responsibility. They only want all of the "perks" of equality. Nig paycheck, corner office, fancy title. When that equality involves digging a ditch or lifting heavy objects or sweating in the sun or being drafted, their definition of equality changes dramatically.

      I'm only like 5'8" and weigh 8 stone, basically the size of a woman, and I could totally kick your ass. Like literally kick it, and then I'd run away like a little girl, because I don't want to die.
      On a serious note, it's common sense and a healthy amount of experience with fights that tells me, just on the height difference alone, I'm a little outmatched and would be taking a bit of a risk in that fight whereas for you, it'll be like merely flicking away a fly. Only people will get a little pissy if you accidentally kill it. And rightly so, because as a big strong man, you should totally be comfortable and capable of being repeatedly assaulted by an aggressive fly...
      That last part was sarcasm. You should totally bat it away, it's not just about the disrespect, but even a fly can be a threat if it flies down your throat. You want to end that possibility as soon as.
      Women don't think that way, they generally don't need to, so it doesn't come naturally to them. They don't calculate the possibility of violence and all other variables just below the surface of conscious thought. If a fight breaks out, whilst they're busy being surprised by it, a man isn't, a man knew it was a possibility the moment he looked around and he was a lot more prepared to deal with it. That's a massive advantage even before you talk about size and power.
      When it comes down to it, women have no advantage. With no advantage, they have nothing but a thin sliver of hope for pity. They can't react fast enough, they can't move fast enough, they're outmatched by inherent functions of the male brain even before the physique comes into play.
      I may be scrawny and weak, but I have the drag coefficient of a knife and will be half a mile away before a larger guy has even reached half his full momentum. I accelerate like a damn flea. That's my best chance for survival. I will come to that conclusion before I've even acknowledged a guys existence and looked him in the eyes. Sadly, a woman will still be oblivious to the possibility of violence right up to the point she awakens bound and gagged in the back of a van.
      I wish there was a way to convey that to women without them taking it as "oh, so all men are inherently dangerous psychopaths!" or as sexism, but you know, such is the discourse these days that everything has be painted, nay tainted, by "the message". Men are the boogey, uh... men, of modern feminism.

      Had a girlfriend about 25 years ago, who had a China cabinet full of basketball trophies, and (according to her) 7 years of Karate trophies (admitedly, she had a fair number); but she never could understand - no matter how clear I attempted to make it, that she had to stop testing me: I grew up fighting in the streets, wrestled in school for one season, and never went higher than a white belt in Karate when in the military, nor Taekwondo later. But I knew how to fight. She only knew the dojo.
      She never believed me when I told her she wasn't on my level (I had a lady instructor test my mettle at the Dojang; I didn't laugh at her, out loud,but I did think she was silly; her black belt was a decoration as far as I was concerned). My girlfriend would roundhouse me in the back quite often; and bait me. She was able to look me in the eye flat footed, was athletic, and sweet. But she always had to kick me or attempt some type of hold/strike. So, I swept her one day. Never broke my conversation with her stepdad. I didn't like doing it; but she would not stop. That stopped her, for good.

    I'm sick of this toxic masculinity term. It's so blatantly misandrist. A clear demonstration of how unchecked anti-male media, anti-male TV, and everyday anti-male conversation spirals out of control and infects people.
