My personal favorite is in n out and i know King thinks its overrated but I have my reasons. In n out is very affordable roughly $8 for a double cheeseburger combo and its made with fresh ingredients and is very clean tasting. I never feel bloated or gross after eating it and its always very satisfying no matter what location you go to. I think five guys just tastes incredibly mediocre and honestly tastes like a burger made at home. I think its also very dependent on the location you go to. A five guys opened right down the street from my house and I gave it another chance since I haven’t had it in a long time and it was easily the worst five guys i’ve ever had.

Living in Los Angeles, burger spots are easy to find. You could find a hood burger spot with a drive thru that would blow out commercial spots. Louie burger in Compton, hawkings house in watts. Tommy’s famous chili burgers. Islands burgers is a solid commercial burger spot I like from high school days.
Nothing beats In-N-Out when it comes to the freshness, taste, portion and price. I can legit get 4 cheeseburgers or 2 double double animal styled cheese burgers for the price of just 1. I do agree it taste good, but naw not worth.
Cookout is good here. They have good cajun fries too. But it's fast food. I got a double burger at a Dennys once that I literally could not eat because it was large and in charge. Very tasty. I'm a big boy too, my normal bk order is a double whopper.

My favorite of the fast casual is actually a place called Freddys Steakburgers,but i understand thats not in new jersey, so i gotta go with shake shack(if we're going by places that we both have near us). I know that might sound crazy, but i have a sesame allergy so i cant even eat five guys. i have had their fries... those are great!

My husband only likes a hamburger with just meat and cheese. No ketchup or anything, so not as worth it for him. But hey, more burger for me. And their fries are the best. My local Habit Burger in Jersey always lays it down & a burger + fries is $10 compared to Five Guys which is like restaurant prices with that being said tho if I'm in the mood for cajun fries Five Guys is the way
